It's been hours, perhaps days that Wolf had been shrouded in complete darkness, floating around an empty void. During this time, he's been thinking about everything that happened previously. If all that happened was nothing but a dream, then why that dream specifically? Did Wolf find comfort in the fact he'd be living a somewhat peaceful life with his worst enemy?
Or was Fox an enemy? Everything he knew up about that point was a lie, or was it? Nothing made sense. He didn't know what was reality and what was dream anymore. All he knew is that it was finally over. He tried to remember the last time things felt real... He and his team, Leon and Panther, got inside the Aparoid Homeworld and used themselves as a distraction for Star Fox to reach the queen.
During that time, the Aparoids launched an all-out attack on them. Wolf could remember now, he was pierced through his shoulder with one of those attacks. Shortly after, the Aparoids ceased their attacks and their world started to crumble around them. And although Wolf and his team barely managed to survive, once they were back on Sargasso, he slowly began to lose consciousness.
Everything after that was a blur.
Just when Wolf thought all hope for salvation was lost, he saw a blinding white light coming from the distance. From that same direction, came the voice of a woman that sounded strangely familiar. "Wolf..." Upon hearing her voice, Wolf gathered all the strength he could and started to float towards the light, the voice was becoming more and more clear. He knew who it was...
"Wolf, wake up." Krystal said while she sat in a chair beside Panther and Leon. She was holding his right hand and trying to reach out to him telepathically. Panther's eyes widened when he noticed the canine started groaning and wincing. "Keep at it, Krystal. I think he's finally coming back!"
5 minutes later, Wolf finally opened his eye. The first thing he noticed when he looked around was that there was light, he was laying down on a bed of a hospital. He looked the other way, feeling a sensitive touch on his hand, and he noticed Krystal, Panther and Leon standing there watching him. Rather than wearing their mercenary outfits, Panther and Leon were wearing civilian clothes.
"Wolf... are you okay?" Leon asked cautiously.
"Leon...?" Wolf asked groggily. "Is that really... are you real?" Wolf placed a hand on his forehead and groaned.
"Everything's fine, Wolf." Panther reassured him. "You've been infected by the Aparoids... Well, all three of us have."
Krystal then continued from where he stopped. "The Cornerian Army found the three of you unconscious during their mission to retake control of Sargasso. Even though the Queen has been destroyed, the ones infected by the Aparoids had to be hospitalized and are still under recovery."
"So, all those dreams I've been having..." Wolf tried to say, but Krystal confirmed his suspicions. "They were illusions, a fake reality created by the Aparoids based on your deepest desires in order to keep you from awakening." (My deepest desires?!) Wolf thought as Krystal continued. "I've been trying to reach out to you, but every time I managed to form a connection, the Aparoids would create some kind of conflict in that alternate reality to convince you to push me away."
"How long have I been out?" Wolf asked her.
"About two months." Krystal replied.
Wolf thought about the circumstances. He slowly put one leg to the side of his bed, then the other one, and managed to get himself into a sitting position. "So what now? Am I under arrest or something?" He asked her. Panther and Leon looked at each other, and then Leon told him. "Our criminal records have been cleared." Wolf's eye widened, then Panther smiled and continued. "It's all thanks to Krystal."
Krystal giggled. "I've also been helping General Pepper overcome his Aparoid Infection, he was very sick and close to dying before I reached out to him. I've managed to convince him to grant you and your team a pardon for your crimes, in return for helping us destroy the Aparoids." Wolf paid attention closely, he was about to open his mouth, but Krystal said. "Please, don't tell any of this to Fox. He's given me strict orders to not come see any of you, he doesn't know you guys recovered."
Wolf chuckled. "Okay, now I know this is reality." He got out of his bed and stretched his arms out above his head and, for once in a lifetime, he felt a slight sting of pain he never thought he'd miss. This was indeed the real world, not some made-up reality where he and Fox... He and Fox... Wolf didn't even want to think about it anymore, he tried to get the thought out of his head, but it just wouldn't come out. Was that really what he wanted his perfect life to be?
"So, Wolf... what are we gonna do now?" Leon asked him, taking Wolf away from that uncomfortable situation. "Should we just go back to our ships and blow up the entirety of Sargasso to get rid of those Cornerian pests?" Leon suggested while Panther chuckled. "Careful, someone might be listening." He said gesturing to Krystal, Krystal just laughed. "If it comes down to that, you know we will stop you, right? Star Fox never lost a single battle against you."
"Is that so?" Leon asked, drawing a pocket knife to Krystal's throat, Krystal barely flinched. "Maybe we could use a hostage to put the odds in our favor." Panther then smacked him in the face with his fists, sending Leon down to the ground. He then pulled the knife away from him. "Be more grateful, you inconsiderate maniac. If it weren't for her, we would still be living in wonderland."
Just as Leon was about to hit him back, Wolf yelled at them. "Leon, stop that shit right now!" And just then, Leon froze in his tracks. Wolf then looked back to Krystal and asked her. "Listen, princess. I appreciate you saving us and all, but if you think this changes anything, you're dead wrong." Krystal had a dude-ur-so-retarded look on her face. "Wolf, please... I hath telekinesis." Krystal said sarcastically.
Wolf then started laughing wildly. "Okay, okay, you got me." Wolf then looked sad again, thinking about the uncomfortable subject from before. "Say..." Krystal looked at him intently. "Yes, Wolf?" Wolf paused for a minute, trying to figure out a way on how to say it. "Can I ask you one last favor?"
AN: Okay, if it isn't dead obvious by this point of the fic: Yes, this is a troll fic. With how many references to My Immortal I've inserted in here, I thought people would have figured it out earlier. If you're asking why did I make this fic, here's the answer:
I have a friend on Discord who is a huge Krystal fanboy. He defends every last strand of blue fur on her back and lashes out at everyone who doesn't like her and writes walls of text about why she's the best character that ever lived.
I personally don't have anything against Krystal, but I've been noticing recently on Star Fox communities on Discord, Reddit and Twitter that this is a very common and very unfortunate behavior of the Krystal fandom as a whole.
A day before I first uploaded this fic, I had a pretty bad argument with my friend who told me, and I quote, "You just don't like Krystal because you're gay and you like Fox with Wolf!"
And, although that's true, I am indeed gay and I do ship Fox with Wolf, I felt pretty offended with the comment, which sounded extremely homophobic to me. And to my shock, I saw other people in the community agreeing with him.
So, as admittedly a petty act of revenge, I've created this fic. A fic where I would abuse and mistreat Krystal as a character in the most ridiculous ways I could find. Then, I shared this fic in the Discord group I'm in and watched hell break loose.
Some people took the joke quite well and laughed (the people from the Twitter account that posts about horribly written fanfic), other people in the Krystal fandom... Well... let's say it wasn't pretty.
I've received plenty of death threats, homophobic comments and accusations that I'm somehow a Nazi because I dared to mock a character from a videogame. Honestly, it was quite hilarious to see how far the fandom of this one specific character would react because someone would write something like this.
Either way, the gig is up. All of this was just a joke that I used to get back at my friends who love this character to quite an unhealthy and toxic level. If you guys are still reading this, I'm so sorry, but you need to learn how to chill.
Anyways, I'll post one more chapter and end this mess eventually.
Thanks to everyone who at the very least had a good laugh while reading this, it was fun.
And before anybody makes a deal about the slurs, it's a reference to My Immortal too, you mediocre dunces! ;)
