"I can't believe you did this!" Fox was furious, he kept pacing back and forth in the flower shop. "How could you invite our worst enemies to our wedding?!"
"They're not going to do anything." Krystal didn't pay any attention to him, she was busy checking out the roses Panther had recommended. "Star Wolf hasn't committed a single crime for about ten years now."
"Krystal, you don't know them I like do." Fox replied pointing his finger to her. "These assholes killed my father, taunted me about it for years, joined a war just to try to kill me and-" "And they saved your life." Krystal cut him short, Fox scratched his head and told her. "Well, yeah... But they only did that because either they saved me or everyone would be assimilated by the Aparoids, including them."
Krystal was receiving some very negative vibrations from Fox, she finally turned to him and scowled. "Fox, I can read their minds. They're not planning to hurt you. They sincerely and honestly just want to come over and have fun."
"And there's the problem!" Fox clapped. "Their idea of 'having fun' is- Well, Wolf's is making me feel miserable, Leon's is probably to stab someone, and don't even get me started on Panther!" Krystal then crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow at him. "And what exactly do you think Panther is going to do?" Fox chuckled. "Gee, I don't know... Maybe object to our marriage?!" He said sarcastically spreading his arms out. "He's spent decades trying to steal you away from me!"
Krystal coiled her fists. "So that's all I am to you, aren't I? Just a prize to be won?" Fox took a step back. "No... that's not what I..." Krystal then continued. "Panther can be a lot of things, Fox. But at least, he trusts me and he genuinely used to love me as a person. Maybe I should start seeing him."
Fox winced, he felt so anxious he could break down at any moment. "Ugh, I'm so sorry! But try to put yourself in my shoes here, these are the same people who tried to kill us for decades. Memories like that just don't go away overnight!"
"I know" Krystal placed a hand on his cheek and softened her tone. "But there's a lot more to this than meets the eye." She then planted a gentle kiss on him. "Trust me, everything's going to be okay."
A few days later, just before the wedding, Fox was all alone. He was kneeling down next to a tombstone in a cemetery with his eyes closed, palms touching against one another, muttering something to himself. The tombstone that read "James McCloud."
Suddenly, he heard footsteps, growing louder and louder as the person approached. He looked behind him, and in his presence was the last person he would've expected to see in that place. Fox furrowed his eyebrows and spoke with pure venom in his voice, clenching his teeth. "Wolf!" And there Wolf was, dressed in a fancy tuxedo with a rose in his chest, bringing a bouquet of flowers along with him.
Fox stood up, he pulled out the blaster he was secretly wearing and planning to use in his wedding, in case Star Wolf did something funny. He pointed the blaster directly to Wolf's eye, threatening him. "What the hell are you doing here?! Isn't it enough to show your ugly face at my wedding?! What do you want from me?!"
Wolf blinked, not flinching in the slightest. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." He said with a monotone voice. "It's been ten years since all of my charges were dropped. Right now, I'm nothing but an innocent civilian." He moved his head and sported a cocky grin. "Are you really going to shoot an innocent civilian, Fox? That would be homicide."
"You are anything but innocent!" He moved his finger closer to the trigger. "You're the reason why he's gone!" Fox said, holding back the tears that were threatening to form in his eyes, eyes which Wolf made an effort to dodge. "Maybe, but I'm not the only one." He walked past Fox as his hands were trembling around the gun's trigger. Although he continued pointing his gun at Wolf, nothing came out of it.
Wolf knelt down to James' tombstone, gently placing the bouquet of roses in front of it, an act which made Fox's eyes widen with shock. He was ready to say something, but Wolf asked him first. "Do you really want to know the reason why I'm here?" Fox was frozen, no matter how much he wanted to open his mouth, there were a million things he wanted to say. Ultimately, he said none of them and remained quiet.
Just then, Wolf stood up and faced him directly, gun still pointed at his eye. "I'm here to have a talk with you, man to man." Fox hesitated, he slowly started lowering his gun and meekly gave one step forward. But then, his legs spun around and he found himself hurriedly getting out of there. "There's nothing left to be said." He muttered as he continued to walk away.
"You're not going anywhere!" Wolf shouted at him. At that moment, Fox heard a loud click and he slowly turned around to confirm his suspicions. Wolf had drawn his own blaster and he was pointing it at him. Wolf then continued. "Ten years ago, I saved your life in this very city. Do you remember what you told me back then?" Fox watched as Wolf continued to point the gun at him, though he noticed the finger was placed far away from the trigger. He knew Wolf had no intention to kill.
"You told me you owed me your life, now all I ask in return is for you to sit your ass down, and listen to me." Wolf said, finally moving the gun away from Fox and gesturing to a bench nearby.
Fox and Wolf sat on the bench, Wolf held his tablet and started showing Fox some pictures.
One picture had Wolf and James making V signs with their hands while drinking in some kind of shady space bar, another one had them having an arm wrestling, yet another one had them standing against two ships. One was clearly an Arwing, though Fox couldn't recognize the other ship. It looked like some kind of aircraft space pirates often used.
Nevertheless, Fox scowled. "These are fake, you manipulated those pictures." Wolf gave him one side-eye and then said. "Oh, really? Then what do you say about this?!" He then showed Fox a video of both himself and James having a friendly dogfight. Before they got on their ship, James told Wolf. "I'm not going easy on you, pup. Just keep that in mind!" And Wolf told him back. "Good, hope you like the taste of sand." Fox couldn't believe any of this, his mind was complete blank. Wolf and his father? Acting like carefree buddies? Just... who was that guy? It sure as hell wasn't Wolf.
Wolf noticed Fox's uneasiness and said. "There's a reason for everything, McCloud." He then swiped and tapped on his tablet a few times until he opened some kind of document. "A while ago, Leon managed to hack into Andrew's database. I've managed to recover these files from before the Lylat Wars. Take a read." He offered the tablet to Fox.
Fox took it, and as soon as he read the document, everything made perfect sense.

Day X is approaching, everything is going according to plan, but I fear we don't have enough firepower to stop the other Star Fox members all by ourselves.
I have a plan, though. There's this kid, Wolf O'Donnell. A space pirate with a treason and larceny charge against Corneria.
Wolf was personally trained by James and I've been seeing him progress a lot recently.
I'd say he's evenly matched with James in terms of flying skill.
If I can somehow get Wolf to our side, if I can somehow put him at odds with James... Yes.
Wolf will deal with James while I deal with Peppy, and with our army giving us an unfair advantage, victory will be guaranteed!
Fox remained silent for a moment, processing this new info. Just then, Wolf took the tablet and switched to a video. In that video, Pigma was shown boarding his father's Arwing and single-handedly annihilating an entire group of space pirates, Wolf being among them. He could hear him shout through the comm line. "James, what the hell are you doing?!" It ended when a single laser pierced through Wolf's ship, followed by it falling down.
"Your father wasn't the only one who got played by Pigma." Wolf said, breaking Fox out of the trance. Fox looked at him, there was a clear expression of remorse in Wolf's cold expression. "Me and you, from the very first day, were pitied against each other."
Fox reflected on the situation, he coiled his fists tight and then he muttered. "Even if that's the case... That doesn't excuse anything you've done." Fox said turning to him with that same anger from before. "You've joined a war, you allied yourself with a guy who tried to enslave the entire universe!"
Wolf looked away. "I did." He said boldly. "Revenge is a pretty damn strong feeling." Then, he looked back at Fox. "What if General Pepper was the one who killed your father? Wouldn't you have done the same thing?"
After what seemed like an entire day, Wolf managed to do something Fox never thought he would, shut him up. Wolf smiled and said, "Yeah... that's what I thought." He picked up his tablet and stood up, starting to walk away from Fox.
"Hey, where are you going?" Fox asked him, but Wolf didn't look back. Still, he continued talking to him. "I just came here to tell you something you had the right to know... and to pay my respects to someone I've wronged. Now it's done." He stopped and took one last look at Fox. "...I won't ask you for forgiveness, I know I'm way beyond that."
Fox seemed to catch something in Wolf's eye. Was it a tear? Was Wolf even capable of crying? Before he could confirm, Wolf turned his back to him once more, and he continued walking away as Fox reflected over what to do with this sudden twist of events.
He knew him and Wolf wouldn't ever be on the best terms, he knew he would be plagued by the memories of Wolf taunting him until the very last day of his life. But if Wolf could make that much effort to change, maybe it was time for Fox to do the same.
Today was his big day, wasn't it? After today, life would never be the same, after all.
Final AN: I'm just posting this chapter to clear up a few things with the last reviews I've got. If anybody posts any other review, I'm going to update this page and answer to that as well.
Jacob:
Sorry if you felt personally offended by the story, I tried to make sure it was too over-the-top for someone to actually be offended by it. And I guess I did go way too far when I started posting pieces of your fanfic and mocking it, forgive me. I genuinely had no idea how to block people on this site, since it makes it so damn hard to, so I figured if I did that, you would go away, since you were starting to post quite a number of unhealthy reviews and I wanted you to stop. It was only a few days after that I finally figured how to block people.
As for your stories, I'm sorry, but I really don't read much fanfiction anymore. I used to a lot back in the day, but these days, fanfics became kind of boring to me, since a lot of them (not all) are just the same concepts happening over and over again. These days, I only really read "so horrible they're awesome" fanfics like My Immortal.
But anyway, sorry again if you felt offended, I apologize.
Elarix:
The intention was to write "My Immortal: The Star Fox Edition", and while I won't deny that "trolling Frystal fans" was one of the intentions, it wasn't the only one. I love My Immortal and I always wanted to see how fun would it be if I wrote my own version of it, it just so happened that I decided to write it with Krystal as the "Britney" of the story simply because of a spat I had with some friends. Even then, just like My Immortal, I wanted everyone's reaction to be "OMG! This is so horrible and hilarious!"
The reason why the fic was 30 chapters long was to, again, be "faithful" to My Immortal. It had about 44 chapters and I wanted to reach that goal, but unfortunately, my life started getting more and more busy and I started getting less and less reactions, so I ended it early. Also, I was being dead serious about the political endorsement, it wasn't made to get anyone riled up. I don't care if anyone reading this has a problem with what I'm saying, Donald Trump can go fuck himself.
Speaking of "I gotta say, no matter how toxic Krystal fans are, they never post trollfics to try to trigger Folf fans." I don't know which site have you been visiting, but they do. I've seen quite a few Krystal/Fox fics where Wolf is mocked for his "homosexuality for Fox", I think about 5 or 6 of them in the days when I used to read fanfics. I just looked it up and I can still find them. Not going to drop any names here, but they exist.
Still, if somebody uploaded a trollfic of this caliber to piss off Wolf/Fox fans, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't find any comments made by me saying "OMG! HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO THESE CHARACTERS?! THIS IS NOT CANON! KILL YOURSELF! YOU DESERVE TO HAVE THESE CHARACTERS MURDER YOU IN REAL LIFE FOR DISRESPECTING THEM!" Even if I wanted to give these fics a piece of my mind, I know I wouldn't change anybody's mind about it. And, again, I have more important things in my life than getting offended because of videogame characters.
Power-Guardian-Ryan:
Okay, this is going to be my last message to you. I didn't approve your comment because I'm starting to feel like you're taking this way too seriously and I'm begging you to please just let it go.
Whether Wolf and Fox get shipped in the fanfic is not the point, the point is that this fic is a joke. These characters were "disrespected" because that's what you do when you make a joke. You can't make a good joke if you don't make someone the butt of it.
Also, for all the times you keep telling me you're a better Star Fox fan than I am, that you know about these characters so deeply and that I'm doing a big disservice to them for not portraying them "the right way"... simply because I dared to pair two characters together in a non-serious fanfic, you don't seem to really know that much yourself.
You know this chapter? When Wolf explains to Fox that he was manipulated by Pigma to fight against him and that their entire antagonistic relationship was the result of sheer manipulation? Well, guess what? THAT'S CANON! Read the supplemental material for Star Fox 64, specifically, read the part that says. "If Pigma didn't manipulate Wolf, he and Fox would've been friends."
Even then, you seem to disregard the entirety of Command as non canon to support your point. Whether you like it or not, Command is canon. It was written by the very same people who established the core Star Fox lore, it was written by Nintendo themselves. I think a lot of people misunderstood what the producers meant to say, which is "The ENDINGS of Command are not canon." They mean the endings in which there is a long time-skip of several years, that's exactly what they say in the interviews. That being said, Command is so horribly written that I don't blame people for reaching that assumption.
Ironically, this entire rhetoric of "Fox and Wolf is not canon, so you can't write about it!" Comes from the very same people who are the first to throw canon into the garbage bin and derail Panther into a character who goes against everything his official profiles state, simply because they don't like him interfering with the OTP. Read a Fox/Krystal fic where Panther shows up, there is a 75% chance he will be depicted as nothing less than a serial rapist. I guess all of these canon purists didn't care much for the fact that his official profile says "Panther falls faithfully in love." But if you dare to portray Fox or Wolf any differently, they will flip their heads about it.
And even then, even if we go by the rule that "This isn't canon to the original, so it can't exist." Well... Krystal was never meant to be a Star Fox character. In 2 out of 3 timelines, she doesn't exist. In one of these timelines, the original one, Fox had an entirely different girlfriend named Fara. So, let me ask you this? If Fara was canon way before Krystal, does that mean Krystal deserves to get erased from existence and nobody is allowed to write about her anymore? The obvious answer would be "No."
Still, I think your biggest problem with this fic is not that it's trashing Krystal, it's not that it's a trollfic, the big problem here is that I DARED to pair Fox and Wolf together in a way that's so ridiculous (that even got nullified in the end anyway) that you got super offended about it. This is exactly why I say your comments come out as extremely homophobic. I think you're participating in too many shipping wars, so I suggest you to stop. Let people ship whoever they damn want.
And hey, I did make Fox/Krystal the endgame in this giant mess of a trollfic, didn't I?
Guest: (The one who asked me about what I think of Krystal)
Personally, I think Krystal is a good character that got majorly screwed over.
When you read the original documents and realize she was meant to have her own game and she was a much better developed character in that game, you can't help but feel bad for her.
But still, the Krystal that was meant to be and the Krystal that we've got are two entirely separate characters. And I think the biggest issue with Krystal is that, if you know nothing about what Krystal was meant to be before Dinosaur Planet got turned into a Star Fox game, you can't help but feel like she's written like a massive Mary Sue.
Compare the canon Krystal, the Krystal we've got and not the Krystal that could've been, with Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way from My Immortal, the quintessential Mary Sue character:
- Both have tragic and traumatic pasts about their parents dying that never amount to anything.
- Both are inserted into the story by derailing one of the main characters to fall in love with them.
- Both are described as beautiful and perfect by the other male characters. The male characters often stop the plot to remind the audience that they are beautiful and perfect, and the plot advances only because said male character gives them gifts for their extreme beauty.
- Both start a love triangle with the main character and the main character's rival while swinging back and forth between them and demanding complete devotion in return.
- Both stop the entire plot and the bigger issues at hand to make the entire story about their relationship woes.
- Both act condescending and feeling like their partners wronged them and retaliate with particularly nasty actions.
The list goes on and on. While I do agree that no single Star Fox character is very deep or developed, that they're all archetypes and nothing more, Krystal unfortunately got stuck with the archetype of an overtly hysterical, vindictive and beautiful girlfriend that a lot of people don't like.
If Star Fox gets another game and they get to reintroduce Krystal, I hope the writers will learn from their mistakes and actually write her like the character she was originally meant to be, not the character she turned out to be.
