AN: If you're big Damon fans I'm sorry but you may not want to read this chapter
Chapter 3:
The next few mornings Elijah held Elena's hair as she was vomiting whatever she ate the previous night.
This morning he winced at the sound and once she was done he buried his face in her hair and flushed the toilet for her.
"I'm sorry," he whispered remorsefully. "I hate that you're sick though I'm happy that you're carrying a miracle."
"I hate being sick but I'm happy that we're having this baby," she whimpered. "I may have a lead on how this," her hand was on her bump, "happened."
Elijah nodded and as he helped her stand up, he pressed a kiss to her head.
"Come on," he said warmly. "I'll make you something light and bland as well as some tea."
"Then I'll tell you what I know about our pregnancy," she told him as she stood up on shaky legs. "Maybe you can carry me?" She asked as she was leaning heavily on him.
He scooped her up in his arms and smiled at her.
As Elena was nibbling on her scrambled eggs and toast, Hayley was curled up on the couch with a bottle of ginger ale and a sleeve of saltines.
"So you have a theory?" Klaus asked as he sat across from Elena, his hands entwined together. "Care to share with the class?"
"It's a potion not similar to the one I made for some girl," Elena whispered but knew that the others could hear. "It's purpose is to…bring out the desires of whoever ingested it."
"Does it cause pregnancies?" Elijah asked and at her nod, he looked thoughtful. "Do you know what it was in?"
"Possibly the salt or the whiskey," Elena hummed between bites of her egg. "I'm not positive though."
"Do you have any idea who could have given it to you both?" Klaus asked now curious. "Or who it could have been used for?"
"Nope," she got out before taking a drink of the chamomile tea. "Is there a vampire who would ask a witch to do this?"
"I can think of one," Elijah realized. "If it's who I think it was for then…we weren't the intended targets."
"Damon and Moira," Klaus realized and Elena blinked. "But they're vampires."
"Moira isn't," Elena told them. "I made her a potion that would make her have a vampire-esque scent and whatnot to her." She looked thoughtful. "I've never met her but Hayley said that someone named Tyler asked her for something like that."
"Well the Petrova fire hasn't died out yet," Klaus laughed. "I need-" he stopped as his phone went off. "Speak of the devil." He answered the call and clicked on the speakerphone button. "Hello Moira." His voice held a tint of evil to it as he spoke.
"Klaus," came a female voice that sounded similar to hers without the lilt to it, "I need help. Damon…he's dying."
"What do you want me to do?" Klaus asked.
"He took that damn cure for Bonnie and now he's dying as someone took it out of him…he doesn't have time and Stefan's not answering his phone."
Elijah looked at his brother in surprise. They thought the cure had been destroyed yet it hasn't been.
"Who took it?" Elijah asked and a sharp gasp on the other end made him smirk as the witch spoke.
"Silas and Amara who have both died," Bonnie's voice was soft. "Please-can't you help? We need to get Stefan to say goodbye." The broken sobs from the witch broke Elena's heart and as Klaus was going to say no he decided to show kindness.
"We can't find Stefan but if you come here we can give him good memories of him and his brother," Klaus said.
"Thank you," Moira whispered.
Elena was outside, watching the sky turn from the blue to pinkish red and fade into bluish black, she closed her eyes.
"Are you well?" She opened them to see Elijah there. Once he sat next to her he placed his hand on top of hers. "Are you upset?"
"He loved at least one of them and his punishment is death," she whispered. "It's heartbreaking and I don't know how I should react. Should I cry for how heartbroken one will be or thrilled that his suffering is over with?"
"Be thrilled yet sad," Elijah said. "Yes his suffering is over but it doesn't mean that the heartbroken ones will always be heartbroken. It'll take time for it to fully heal and it doesn't mean that they won't find a love like that." She looked back at the sky.
"I never told you about my family," she whispered. "My mother and father were placed in between a rock and a hard place when we lived here when I was two. A vampire-Marcel I think he was called-overheard them talking about Originals or something when he found them with me." She gave a bitter laugh. "My mother found a man who gave her his blood in two vials and when Marcel ran them through she held the vials that were empty." She laughed. "They transitioned and have been exploring and researching whenever the bug hit them."
Elijah bit his lip from growling. Marcel will pay for what he did.
"I'm sorry for what my brother's protégé did to your parents," he whispered softly. "Though your parents were possibly looking for me and Niklaus." He grinned. "We are known as Originals-the first-" she cut him off.
"The first vampires created by magic," she breathed. "Oh lord…" she buried her face in his chest. "I had the best sex of my life with an Original who got me pregnant…" He smirked and looked up.
"Do you see us together?" He asked her and she looked up into his eyes.
"Do you?" She parried back.
"I would like to take you out on a date," he admitted. "If you would like that."
"I would actually," she admitted. "I would like that." She gave him a blushing smile and his own was filled with warmth and held a boyish look to his face.
The crunching of tires on gravel the next morning made Klaus walk outside to see a pregnant Bonnie Bennett gingerly taking out a dying Damon Salvatore and a purely human Moira Gilbert in a short sleeved red shirt and a pair of blue jeans.
"I see congrats are in your immediate future Miss Bennett," Klaus said lightly as he looked at Moira. "What about you love?" She shook her head.
"Matt and I are over as he's in Prague with Caroline and Rebekah while Stefan is somewhere," she told him. Klaus sighed sadly before turning his head to see Hayley there, a cardigan wrapped around her.
"Allow me to introduce you three to Hayley Marshall," Klaus said with a smirk. "She will be taking you three to the conservatory where we have set up an area for Damon."
Moira was shocked when she saw her exact double sitting in the sitting room with a cup of tea in a familiar button up shirt and a pair of sleep shorts. Her brown eyes met the other's own brown eyes.
"I'm going to assume you're Moira Gilbert?" The young woman's voice was soft in deference to the sleeping vampire beside her. "He stayed up late last night when I was inconsolable about life and death."
"I am and you're the witch who made my potion," Moira whispered.
"Elena Flemming," she introduced gently as a hand went through Elijah's short hair. "I took my mother's maiden name because I doubt that Elena James sounds good."
"Do you know Isobel Flemming?" Moira asked, knowing the last name and searching for the last remaining family she could.
"My mother and she's in the amazons or a rainforest somewhere," Elena yawned. "Why?"
"Did she know a woman named Ophelia Grant?" Moira sounded desperate.
"A cousin of hers why?" Elena was curious and Moira smiled sadly.
"She was my mother," Moira answered. "She died thanks to Katherine having her be used in Klaus' ritual."
"The sun and moon one right?" Elena could remember going with her parents to England when she was five to see how far back it went and what ancient castles she could explore. "The writing stated that it wasn't the truth as certain things didn't add up-there were inconsistencies in the writings as why vampires would want to break it due to witches having magic to create Daylight rings and wolves were rare to find in the world."
"We were on a time delay to fix it," Elijah yawned as he sat up. "We also had to deal with Mikael finding us in my old English castle." Elena smiled softly as she kissed him softly.
"Sorry we woke you up," she apologized while Moira watched them in fascination. "If you need to-just go back to bed."
"I will when you do," he reminded her as he peered into her eyes and noticed the dark circles under her eyes. "You need more sleep than I Lovely."
Moira decided to leave them alone.
Klaus watched Bonnie and Damon sadly as she wiped the sweat off his brow tenderly and heard Hayley sniffling behind him. He turned to her and she shook her head.
"Hormones and I cry easily nowadays," she reminded him. "I can't help but think that this love story-as sad as it is-was possibly cute."
"Now I need to help them with their memories," Klaus whispered to her. "You can stay if you want but I believe you will be happier if you were in bed sleeping."
She raised an eyebrow and stayed beside him, her hands on her hips.
"I'm not leaving," she told him with a low growl in her voice.
Moira closed her eyes as she watched Bonnie struggle with Damon's decaying mental and physical health. Klaus restrained him with some pain medications that he injected into the man's vein.
She knew that at one point she loved Damon but didn't understand what kind of love it was until he took her to a rave to feed (which she didn't) and he didn't seem to care about her feeding habits.
She understood then that her love for him wasn't as strong as her feelings for Matt that are now down the drain.
Hearing Bonnie's pained sobs made her open her eyes and race to her side, rubbing her back and trying to console her. Tears pricked at her eyes but it wasn't time for tears.
Damon was standing at the end of an aisle and a little boy that was a complete mixture of him and Bonnie walked down in a tuxedo holding a white pillow. He turned his head to see Stefan there, patting his back and giving him a thumbs up. Turning his head back, he saw Moira walk down the aisle in a light blue, one shoulder tea length dress on the arms of Jeremy, Caroline in the same dress style walking by herself before Bonnie appeared, on her father's arm.
Klaus saw the look of pure joy on Damon's face as his heart was beating out its last beats. On the last beat, Bonnie's sobs became wails and Moira held her friend, whispering that Damon is in a better place.
AN: yes I did kill Damon off but he got to experience something good!
Also-I'm wondering if the Elejah baby should be a boy or a girl
