Chapter 5:
Hayley was standing in front of numerous candles inside St. Anne's lighting just a few of them for the lost souls when she saw a priest come out of the sacristy and sit heavily in one of the pews.
She went over to him and sat beside him.
"What's wrong Father?" She asked as she remembered the private church school she had been forced to go to before she triggered her curse.
"St. Anne's is the scene of a terrible crime," he whispered lowly but her wolf hearing caught it as well as the choking sound he made. "Nine seminary students were slaughtered here before the one who did it killed himself." He closed his eyes. "Since then St. Anne's became desolate."
Her eyes scanned the area she was in and nodded, as things were ruined or destroyed.
Elijah was worried as he placed his hand over her brow and gently wiping the sweat from her forehead with his silk handkerchief.
"What happened?" He looked to see Moira there, worried. "Is she going…" He shook his head.
"That's not what happened," the two looked at Klaus who just entered with Sophie who was stumbling. "Josh found her stumbling out of some warehouse, raving mad about dark magic."
"What did she mean?" Elijah asked in a low voice and Sophie gulped.
"She injected the Needle of Sorrows into me," Sophie whispered as she nervously twisted her hands together. "It's to-" Davina, who appeared as she heard what was said, cut her off.
"It's to cause miscarriages. It's dark magic." Elijah looked at the girl.
"How is it undone?" He asked her, trying to keep calm while Elena was whimpering about the heat and feeling fatigue.
"I'm not sure," Davina sighed. "I never got the chance to study the after effects or cures to certain dark objects."
"I know someone who does," they looked to see Rebekah storm in. "However Marcel has him."
"And will keep him for a very long time," Elijah snapped at her, making her gape. "Anyone else?"
In Mystic Falls Bonnie was looking through her cabinet in her garage (or storage room as her Grams had called it once) when she noticed that one of her potions was gone.
This potion was to induce ones desire and cause very high fertility in whatever species was to intake it.
She had made six and yet only five were there? She was trying to study the magic behind it, see why certain herbs and liquids could cause the impossible to become possible.
Clicking her tongue she racked her mind as to who could do it when her phone rang. Answering it, she sounded worried and yet angry.
"Now's not a good time," she looked at the caller ID and groaned, "Matt. Sorry but it's-" he cut her off.
"Did you do anything to the salt shaker at the Grille?" He asked. "It's funky and I'm not sure why."
Paling, she looked at the sky.
"How funky?" She asked. Matt gave a sigh.
"The bartender didn't notice it but I did," his voice was soft. "It was after we ran out of tequila as Elijah and some brunette drank all of it and the salt grains looked to be a violet color. I took it home with me and have it hidden still."
"Bring it to me," Bonnie's voice was hard. "Now Matt."
"Bonnie?" Matt asked worriedly.
"One of my potions I was experimenting with is gone and it's a violet color," she told him. "Then I want to see if you could even break into my cabinet in the garage where it was."
Klaus stormed into the church where he found the Faction and one of their members was on the ground dead by Hayley's feet. He looked at her and she smirked as she held a phone.
"I asked them to get me info on this witch Agnes and they refused," she told him. "No one refuses me when my family is in danger." Her eyes were hard.
Klaus smirked as he would have done the same thing and had done it many times in his life.
"You heard the lady unless you all want to become snacks," Klaus drawled. "I want answers as my sister in law is pregnant and my niece or nephew is in jeopardy." He looked wicked as he faced the priest. "Be thankful that I'm here and not my brother who would kill first and then ask questions as it's his wife and child." The priest was paling at the thought of an Original coating the streets in blood.
"Get the answers," the priest ordered before the humans left and Klaus turned back around to her.
"Elijah has filled you in," he asked as he she pocketed the phone. "I'm rather surprised about that."
"It was Davina who informed me actually," Hayley told him honestly. "Elijah was in the background getting the ingredients list from Sophie and Josh was going to get the herbs and what not."
"Devious and making them think that an unhinged Original will slaughter the city," he mused. "I'm thinking that our meeting was fated Little Wolf." He nearly growled the words to her as she smirked, flicking hair from her eyes.
"You're the Big Bad Hybrid," she hummed as he walked to stand behind her. "You're a king among the people. A god even."
The sounds of things breaking and getting knocked over drew Diego's attention to the store that the witch his best friend Thierry was dating owned. Entering it, he saw Josh Rosa gathering ingredients from everywhere.
"What are you doin' Josh?" Josh looked to see him standing there, trying to look high and mighty.
"Saving an unborn child's life," Josh snarled as the bag with the herbs was slung over his shoulder. "But it's not like you care about it." He added as he glowered at him. "Keeping Davina in the attic and treating her like your prized witch without the freedom."
"I'm protecting her from the witches per Marcel's rules," Diego roared and Josh shook his head. "They were going to sacrifice her!"
"There are ways around it," he told him angrily. "She found a way yet you didn't care to hear it. Someone else did and that woman-that pregnant woman-is in trouble." Looking around and making sure he had everything Josh ran off.
Once Josh entered the plantation home Davina and Sophie got to work on making the counter as Elijah was trying to cool Elena off. His shirt, jacket and tie were gone and he held her heated body to his cold one. He had one arm wrapped around her waist and his hand was going through her hair. She whimpered and moved her face into his chest where he felt her warm tears.
"You're going to be fine sweetheart," he crooned. "You and our baby will be safe and sound."
"Get her into the water," Sophie shouted as she held the cup and Davina began to undo the unlinking spell with Bonnie Bennett's help over the phone. "Please."
Elijah scooped Elena into his arms bridal style and raced into the pool with her still in his arms. He was whispering softly to her in his native tongue and she whispered, "promise me that we'll be alright."
"I give you my word," he swore and as Sophie drank the mixture she gave it to Elijah who gave it to Elena. "I give you my word that you two will be safe."
A soft but weak smile lit her face and as she drank the liquid she moaned in agony before a giggle erupted. Sophie looked up as she felt the spell disappear.
Taking her earring out, she stabbed her palm and Elijah looked at Elena's palm, noting that she didn't get hurt from what Sophie did.
Agnes was glowering at the hybrid and the wolf who were watching her with intense eyes and the wolf had her lips pressed into a thin line.
"You know why we wanted you here?" The Hybrid all but snarled and she looked cruel.
"I'm killing that demon baby in the witch's belly," she said wickedly. "There's-" she stopped as the wolf moved too quick for her to notice except for a familiar witch to appear. "Katie?" She asked and the wolf snapped her neck.
"She'll be forced to transition and leave New Orleans," the wolf snarled. "It's easy what can be accomplished when certain factions are in play." She grinned as she motioned for a man to appear. "Meet my adopted father and the 'demon baby's' grandfather." He flashed to stand in front of Hayley as Agnes was about to move her hands.
"You touch her and I'll have you be Katie's first blood donor," the man snarled viciously. "I'll-" he was cut off by the sound of the doors being blown off.
The four of them looked to see Elijah in a black trench coat covering a black long sleeve shirt and black jeans storm in. Looking around, he killed Agnes' zealots before grabbing her by the neck.
"No one hurts my family and gets away with it," he growled lowly before snapping her neck, letting her fall like a rag doll. "No one." He turned and walked out of the church with the dead bodies littering the floors as well as their hearts.
Isobel was watching her daughter sleep after her harrowing ordeal and ran a hand through her hair.
She was going to be a grandmother because of the impossible. Her eyes darted towards Moira who was watching her before leaving. Isobel followed her cousin's daughter downstairs and saw her sit on the ground. Sitting beside her, she cocked her head to the side as the young woman sighed sadly.
"Bonnie texted me after the spell," Moira was speaking softly. "Someone had stolen one of her potions that she was trying to figure out how the impossible can be possible." She looked up at the ceiling. "I didn't know it existed so I was ruled out, Matt had no idea and couldn't even break into it without triggering alarms so he was out…Caroline barely made it to the doorknob of the cabinet so she didn't do it…" Moira's voice shook. "Maybe I did do it under compulsion…maybe I caused this to happen…" her body shook with unneeded guilt that Isobel hugged her.
"My mother knows a spell to see if you have any memory issues you want to deal with," Isobel whispered. "Do you want to talk to her about it?"
Moira opened her mouth to answer when Hayley walked in with a wicked smile before it faded and her eyes went to Isobel who stared at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Care to tell me why you're covered in blood?" She asked her and Hayley gulped.
"I'm going to change," Hayley wanted to avoid the question but Isobel wasn't letting her. "I killed a member of the Faction when they didn't do what I wanted them to do," she sighed as Isobel gave her the 'mom' look. "It helped get what was needed though!"
Isobel sighed and as she stood up, she left the house to check on her parents just as Elena came down to get a glass of water for her dry throat.
"What has been happening?" Elena asked in a croak.
"A lot," Moira whispered. "Are-" Moira was cut off by someone knocking on the door. Raising an eyebrow, Moira walked over to the door and answered it only for a rag covered in something that caused her to black out.
Hayley went to see what was taking so long only for the same thing to happen to her and Elena.
As soon as Elijah and Klaus enter the house they realized that the three brunette women aren't there and Elijah was infuriated.
Elijah dialed Rebekah's number and as she answered he almost growled out, "where are they?"
In a non descript van Hayley, Moira and Elena were tied up with rope and while Elena's stomach felt like revolting she was taking in deep panicked breaths while Moira rubbed her back in circles, having done the same thing for Bonnie during her early stage of pregnancy four months ago.
Once the van stopped, Hayley looked at them in curiosity.
"Do you know who took us?" Elena asked groggily while trying to quell the nausea. Though her morning sickness has gone there were certain smells that still made her stomach roll and the van smelled of alcohol, causing her stomach to roll and her nausea to rear its ugly head.
"Sort of," Moira whispered. "Caroline's ex. Tyler Lockwood-a hybrid."
