"I've send you the pictures of cakes, check them and send me which one you'd like to have," Max grinned on the phone,

Kai slightly blushed but his face was still stoic, "Hn, I will text you," He disconnected the call and removed his earplugs,

Let's first see how much work is pending in company more…

As soon as he reached his company quarters, he could see that everyone were very busily engaged in work, the typing sounds of keyboards, mouse-clicks were in full blow. He unlocked his cabin, switched on the lights, removed his coat, switched on the air-conditioner, and settled on his chair and started restarting his laptop on table.

Hilary… did she even come today?

He shook his head and ignored his thoughts. He took his phone and texted the diamond-jeweler-shopkeeper to keep a few beautiful rings ready till tonight. Next, he texted to his wife: Eat your breakfast, and get ready. The driver will drop you at mom's place. Have a nice day. I will pick you while returning, Love, Kai.

His mind was fresh and there were no intruders, phone-calls or any disturbances, so he peacefully worked and completed his pending work within three hours. Even though by the end of session, he was very beat and exhausted, he sighed just because a major part of work was over. He stood up and took his phone. There were no new messages. He was expecting some text from his wife…Probably she didn't check her phone yet, typical Misty. He smiled.

He checked on the employees and the work was going pretty smooth. He guided few of them and helped a few.

"Hey, check on the news now!" Max came running to Kai and switched on the general T.V in the working arena. Everyone's gazes shifted to stare at the television where the Minister was announcing about the public holidays to commence for a week from tomorrow, warning the general public not to stay outdoors from tomorrow morning and finish off the pending work by today, since the hazardous storm would be affecting the downtown, endangering their health.

Kai smirked calmly. He was expecting the news to come by today and it did.

"Am I invited tomorrow at your party, Kai? " Max nudged Kai's arm,

"Hn, let's see,"

"I might bring Raul and Ray too, it will be fun!" Max cheered,

"Why so?" Kai raised a brow. He didn't know why but he didn't want many people at home tomorrow who will not let him have peaceful and private time with his wife. And Julia, Mariah might also be added if Raul and Ray were coming.

"Because it will be boring and no fun with less people. You don't even have kids at your home! When am I gonna become an uncle, huh?" Max asked, wagging his brows. Kai slightly gapped, almost flustering, but ignored him.

"Why don't you get married if you are so ardent on getting kids? I saw Mariam last evening on way back to home-" Kai teased,

"Hold on," Max gasped, "Fine fine, I won't tease you. Misty sister-in-law is much better to talk with than you. Oh god," Max sighed,

"Hnn."

"By the way…" Max grinned, "I'm sure your kid will be just like Misty and less like you- at least I hope so. I can't bear to see another Kai saying 'hnn' to me all time," Max giggled softly and walked away when Kai was giving death glares to him.

Kai sighed when Max was not in sight and gave a look around, everyone were perfectly working. He checked them once again. After being assured that the work will be sorted out by evening, he quietly left the building and drove his car to diamond's jewel-shop.

"Why didn't he wake me up today?" Misty yawned as she lounged on the sofa, checking her phone. She had already eaten her breakfast, gotten ready in simply cool outfit after a warm-bath, checked and completed all chores pending in house. She was just taking some rest before she could start searching for all her certificates and old documents and pile them up, because Kai would be taking her to his company next week anyway.

"Wait, he messaged me in morning? Five hours ago!" She jolted up from her reclining position and squinted at the phone's screen. She quickly replied back,

'Yeah I ate my breakfast. Take care, Love.'

Then she remembered that she had to actually go her mom's place today. Not that it was necessary, but since Kai had told her just as a sign of care, she was willing to go. Plus it was almost a month since she last saw her mom. Forgetting about everything else, she quickly got dressed into a better outfit and locked the rooms, instructing maids to prepare the dinner before she returns.

Taking her purse, she got into the car, heading to her mom's place.

"Thanks," Kai took the gifted red-velvet-box wrapped neatly and placed into his pockets. He finally chose a perfect ring for his wife after spending almost an hour at the shop, confused of size and type of ring he would like to have. It was late but that didn't really budge him. He smiled thinking of that moment when he will surprise his wife by keeping the red-box on their bedroom table and she will open it and squeal at him and hug him from back. His imagination was going on- which included- him smirking at her, pushing the ring in her ringfinger and she- blushing bashfully in happiness. He chuckled and sat in his car to drive back.

He took his phone and checked the pictures of cakes that Max has sent. He selected one finally: Bizcocho Dominicano cake, which was majorly butterscotch flavored with roses and chocolate flavored strips and the Anniversary text with their names in chocolate on the top surface and lower edge or border.

He pressed the sent button to Max, smiling softly to himself. Max's words suddenly came popping in his mind. Kids huh? Max, you should seriously get married. Kids... well, what Misty thinks about kids? I should ask her sometime. But…no, no, no. If kids come in our life, then they will take all her attention away from me. She will not care about me like she does now.

He frowned tensely as his thoughts paved in.

"Hn," he said to himself. He locked his car and entered inside the company quarters.

"Hey Kai," Max came waving at him,

"What?" Kai asked in slight irritation,

"The cake you ordered is ready. Shall we collect it now? The work is also almost over," Max said, with his blue eyes appealing brightly. Kai sighed,

"You're so bored here. Aren't you?" Kai asked,

Max sweatdropped.

"Aha, so it's the Anniversary, huh?" Misty's cousin nudged her.

The girl gulped, trying her best not to blush.

"Yea, tomorrow actually," Misty stuttered,

"Mom, see! She didn't invite us!"

"Which cake is brother-in-law bringing for tomorrow?"

"What gift are you gonna give him!"

"Awww, Misty! Please invite us too! We also want to have few glances of Kai! You already took all of him!"

Misty was badly flustered, froze and blinking bashfully. She was quiet. They all kept shaking her, nudging her, and teasing her,

"It's enough," Tala came in, their eldest brother.

"You all keep your sister irking all the time. Give her a rest. Huh, Misty, let's all go out. You might buy some gifts if you'd like to," Tala politely offered,

"Yeah I guess," Misty skittishly scratched her head.

A gang of five cousin brothers, three cousin sisters, Tala and Misty got accommodated in Tala's van and they drove to an ice-cream parlor first, to satisfy the hunger of their little cousins.

After guzzling down plentiful of ice-creams of all flavors they liked, Misty paid for all of them despite Tala urging her that she needn't need to,

"Let it be Tal, this treat is from my side," Misty took out her wallet and few fresh notes and handed the cashier at the counter. She had eaten only a single chocolate cone, her mind was focused more somewhere else.

Misty's cousins were wildly impish, despite being younger than her. They began serenading romantic songs for her and Kai in the van on their way back to home. Misty sweatdropped while Tala was mildly grinning. She was seated beside the driver's seat, Tala was driving.

'So kiss me where I lay down, my hands pressed to your cheeks. A long way from the playground. I've loved you since we were 18!'

The music was put on MP3 players and very well serenaded loudly and flamboyantly as possible by the cute cousins behind. They even fought for which song should be played,

"Let's play Love me like you do," One said, grabbing the speakers,

"Nah, its old, let's play Senorita!" Another screamed and towered the former one,

"Both are boring, let's play Beautiful now!" Another 15 year old girl took the phone from their hands and hid it,

'All I could do is say is that these arms are made for holding you. When we were 18… when we were 18…'

"These guys…they will never change…" Tala sighed and let the car take a turn,

"I will not leave them when they get married," Misty smirked, even though she was gasping in her blushed-up state, disheveled hair clumsily yet elegantly flying. She pulled out her hairband and tied them neatly once again, clipping the little front locks with hair-pins.

"When we get married, we will already be aunties of your kids, sis!" Someone roared enthusiastically from behind,

Misty slapped her forehead, "Never mind,"

The breezes were moderately blowing and ruffling around. Come to think of it, I've actually met bladebreakers and Kai when I was 18. Kai was 18 too that time. How things happened so smoothly and quickly… How beautifully God destined us…

She began reminiscing the old memories, commemorating them gently in her heart, feelings getting tender and warm.

Without even fighting for our love, we got together, not just for a part of life, but for the entire lifetime. How easily I got you… Not just you, but your loyalty, trust, respect, care and wonderful love too.

"Did you like the cake?" Max asked as they entered a restaurant filled with aromatic fragrance of junkies, burgers, mayonnaise with young teen-couples romancing, married couples smiling and waiters continually serving them,

"Yea I did. This is the 100th time you've asked me Maxie ever since we strode out of the bakery," Kai sighed hopelessly and looked around for empty table,

"Hey isn't that Hilary!" Max called as he saw a brunette eating a sandwich, alone, seated and tiredly looking around as well.

"Ignore," Kai said as he began to leave. They came to restaurant only on Max's pleas since he was hungry,

"Hey, Kai, Max!" Hilary called, waving at them. Kai mentally seethed but nonetheless smiled at her and joined at her table.

"What are you guys doing here? Dropped for lunch?" Hilary asked, already calling the waitress and ordering a heavy lunch from her side for them,

"No actually-"

"Never knew Kai went out in office hours," She chuckled, softly grinning at him,

"We actually-" Max slightly was nervous,

"No worries Maxie. I'm paying all for it. What would you like to eat Kai?" She asked, smiling kindly.

"Hilary, I'm not hungry," Kai said inadvertently

"Huh? Why?"

"I was here to buy some snacks. My wife is waiting at home for me," Kai said calmly and very coolly. Hilary's eyes widened and she unbelievably blinked a couple of times, she was completely shaken from his words.

"Wife? Are you k-kidding?" Hilary stuttered, sweating slightly. Her heart was thudded.

"No I'm not," he said politely. Hilary looked confusedly at Max. Max's eyes were lowered, fingers twiddling in slight guilt,

"Tomorrow is our 2 year- anniversary. I love my wife." Kai knew his words were killing her, breaking her from inside even if she was simply staring stunned at him, but he continued, "I didn't know Max didn't say you; I thought you knew, Hilary,"

Hilary shook her head, implying 'no, I didn't'. Her eyes were turning slightly red and glassy, throat kind of blocking her from saying any words.

She wasn't sure what she should say. Did he even know I liked him? Like him, still? Why… was it so easy to fool me? So easy to pretend and play with my feelings?

"You knew about my feelings… Didn't you?" She whispered, eyes covered under her brunette bangs, gaze lowered,

Kai opened his mouth to say something. He felt slightly guilty. He should have already told her, but he didn't. Instead he kept ignoring her…

"I did," Kai admitted, "I'm sorry; I couldn't muster up to say you that I'm already married,"

She looked at him, eyes welled up and swollen. Twisting and biting her lips, she nodded angrily, "I understand," She hissed, getting up from the table in oceans of hurt and embarrassment, "Happy Anniversary to you and your wife in advance," she said him, her face ruined in redness,

"Hilary, wait," He said as she turned to stomp away,

"I liked both the shirt and watch you bought. I'm sure Kai will like it as well," Tala commented as they entered a restaurant for buying some snacks for their cousins at home. They had done shopping after dropping them at home, because their presence wouldn't allow anyone to even think what should be bought or now.

However this was the same restaurant where her husband was also present right now.

Misty smiled, looking at the covers in her hand, Kai said he liked black color, so I hope he likes the shirt too beca-

"Isn't that Kai, Misty?" Tala interrupted her thoughts,

Misty's eyes veered to see Kai at a far-table. The pure smile on her face faded as she saw her husband standing in front of, right close to a young brunette, wiping her tears, caressing her head as she cried and mumbling some words to her.

She stared at them, dumbfounded and shocked at their actions.

"Who's that girl?" Tala asked, slightly edgy.

She didn't answer, too non-plussed by the scene she thought she would ever witness.

"Misty, are you okay?" Tala shook her,

Her mouth opened as Kai softly hugged the brunette and said few words. The brunette seemed to be crying, burying her head in his chest.

"Let's leave from here, right now." Misty said in low voice, turning and beginning to leave.

"Uhmm, okay." Tala followed her, collecting the snacks' packs and paying the cashier.

...

Misty was quiet throughout the journey in car while Tala drove back to their home.

"Don't stress out, hey Mist. We will ask directly about this to Kai…" Tala appeased,

"What's there left to ask, Tala," She said quickly with a broken-laughter, "We saw everything right in front of our eyes. How foolish I was… People are right. Wives should keep an eye on their husbands' moves, who knows what they do outside," She dismissively twisted her lips and dejectedly pouted, looking away and staring at the sky,

"Misty, I will talk to him. He can't simply cheat my innocent sister like this. I will not leave him if he's guilty," Tala grunted,

"No! You will not say anything to him. You got me?" She cried,

"Okay okay, I won't. Don't cry Misty, we will sort this," Tala tried to appease her,

She wiped her tears and rubbed her eyes, trying her best to calm herself and quell her anxiety.

It was twilight, orange colored sky-light slowly disappearing into the overcoming darkness. Kai was deeply pondering as he drove his car, Max seated beside the driver's seat.

"Don't worry, Kai. She will be fine in few days," Max said softly, trying to soothe his friend,

"Maybe, Max. I think… I should have talked to Hilary before itself,"

"Yeah, you're right on this," Max exhaled,

"I hope she will move on," Kai sighed,

"She will. It will take time though. Maybe she will resign from your company and leave the town for some time. But I'm glad you confronted her and didn't keep her in lies."

"That was necessary. Misty will be joining in from next week. I couldn't have hid from Hilary for that long." Kai frowned deeply,

"You said her at the eleventh hour, but anyway, you did."

"Hn."

"Wait, Hilary."

"What do you want now Kai?" She sniffled,

"I'm sorry…" He said genuinely,

"You seriously didn't feel any remorse for keeping me hanging knowingly these days!" her whimpering voice was still quavering,

"I-I.. I couldn't just say you,"

"You are very bad, Kai!" she cried, tears coming out one by one. He stepped closer to her and wiped her tears,

"You will find someone much better than me, Hilary. Because your love is strong and very patient. I'm sure destiny have someone better for you in store," he said her softly with a smile, "I'm not a very good man, you should forget me."

She sobbed and buried her head in his chest, he smiled sadly and caressed her head, "I'm sorry Hilary, I'm very sorry."

She moved back after erupting her cries, "I will not forgive you," She veered her face away and ran away, wiping away her tears.

After announcing to his employees and workers that their salaries will be transferred to their respective accounts tomorrow morning, he greeted them on the account of holidays, and headed to his home. Kai was tired a lot today. He was out today for quite time since morning, driving, and then completing work at company; but at least, finally the work was finally over and sorted out. Now only holidays were awaiting for him. And my dear Misty for me. He smirked exhilaratingly.

He stopped in midway and purchased a fragrant bouquet of red and white roses, with a note of their Anniversary. The cake was at Max's home-delivered there- which Max would bring at Kai's home tomorrow. This was done since the public holidays were commencing from tomorrow and Kai didn't want any kind of hindrance for tomorrow for things arriving and all.

He opened his phone. There was a text from his wife, I'm at home already. Don't pick me from mom's place. My brother dropped me an hour back.

He changed his route back to his home, wondering why she changed the plan. He parked the car in the cellar, taking his coat, bouquet and his suit in his hands- he entered inside his mansion. He looked around hopefully to find her seated on the dining table, waiting for him but she wasn't there. The hall was silent with few maids working and dusting the cabins, glass-tables.

He looked around but then headed upstairs to his bedroom. As he entered his room, he was slightly confused and surprised to see her sleeping already on the bed, seeming very tired. He kept the bouquet on the side table, suit on the floor beside it and removed his coat, carefully keeping the red-box in his wardrobe's deep corner.

She usually doesn't sleep at this time. Guess she's tired, after all, her cousins are very crazy, might have kept her worked up.

He got changed and had the dinner alone downstairs. After taking a bath, he dried himself and got clad into comfortable clothes and switched off the lights, covering both of them in a warm blanket and closing windows. For some obscure and unknown reason, he was feeling eerily curious and disturbed. He couldn't sleep despite being strenuously tired. Probably the orange-lamp shade was irritating him. He even switched off that, and tried closing his mind and getting some sleep. Still couldn't.

Something is wrong…

He looked beside him at her. She was sleeping deeply, lips slightly parted, some sort of anguish lacing on her face. He shifted closer towards her, moving his face beside her on the pillow. He stared at her closely. Thick black eyelashes were dropped low, some stains of dried tears were evident, lips were cracked and dried. He never saw her before this way. He frowned, and worriedly caressed her cheeks, rubbing on the stains, and running his thumb under her eyes. She didn't even stir in her sleep. Her skin felt slightly hot, like some slight fever was on way.

"Misty..." he whispered anxiously. Some strange fears occupied him, he wasn't even sure of what they were.

Pressing a firm kiss on her forehead, and dried tears, he cuddled next her protectively and slept, wondering for quite long of what was with her.
The night seemed heavy, filled with tension and perturbed hearts silently sobbing. Here it was Misty, there it was Hilary.

The next morning, when he woke up, the bouquet was still at its place where he kept it last night- untouched and unmoved. Misty wasn't beside him, and the room was cleaner than it was last seen. He guessed that she might have been awake already. 'Oh, might be she remembers already about today...'

He got up, showered and got clad in comfortable regular home-clothes. He was feeling very hungry because he couldn't eat properly last night. He opened the door of his room and walked downstairs. 'Max said he'd come by six in evening. So does the cake,'

Misty was setting the dining table, keeping the porcelain plates, glasses and jug neatly. Her face was expressionless, light and dejected. Kai was puzzled at this. She was always cheerful and bright in morning. This didn't look right.

She didn't even look at him when he was standing in front of her at table.
"Good morning," he said. His fazed voice came out distinctly.

"Good morning," she replied bluntly without looking. He was about to start saying something but she settled on the chair and served both of them. His mind told him to eat the breakfast first- which went pretty slow and in an implausible aura. For the first time, he was slightly scared by her behaviour.

"Are you okay?" He asked casually after she got up to sort the table,

"Hn." She answered. That stabbed his heart now. She didn't even commented on the bouquet he had kept last night! The thought that she had seen him yesterday with Hilary was far fetched in his mind. She seemed to be a bit angry and upset, both.

He was nerve wracking, waiting in their bedroom the entire time till she finished her work and came back to the room, sighing in exhaust. Seeing him seated on bed, addled and slightly anxious, she felt guilty, but she ignored him and headed to her dressing table, getting seated and simply combing her long waist length plush hair.

Minutes passed, but she didn't say a word. His patience was seized now. He got up and stood at her right, staring at her, frowning in some sort of accuse,
"What's wrong?" He asked lucidly,

"Should you be asking this?" She finished tying her hair into a neat pony, "Or should it be me instead?" Her voice was still polite,

He shook his head skeptically, "Nothing. What happened?" He mumbled, feeling slightly frantic, but she didn't notice.
She wanted to protest back, shout at him, but still her heart refused. She was instead silent, despondent and feeling cheated. She stared at the table ahead, then at his reflection on mirror, he was clearly worried.

"Where were you yesterday..." she whispered,

That got to him. That'd fine it! He suddenly remembered what happened yesterday.

"You want to know, Misty? You sure?" He asked firmly, unfurling his clenched palm.

"I'm listening," she mumbled,

"I went out to buy a ring for you, and then to select a cake for our 2nd Aniversary. When someone met me I knew who had feelings for me..." he sat on his knees, and turned her face to him, cupping her petite chin and chubby cheeks, "I told her that I love my wife. That girl cried, but I didn't felt anything wrong for loving my wife. I apologised her and consoled her- told her, she would find someone better than me. She left after you did," Kai moved back, retreating his fingers from her face. Misty gaped, twitching her brows at his revelation. She never knew that the scene was completely different. Kai just guessed the reason of her attitude, and he justified of what had happened.

Her heart told her that he wasn't lying. His eyes said that he was speaking the truth, and conveyed the ocean-depth of honest love for her. She stood up,
"I-I didn't...I never knew this." She stuttered, feeling extremely embarrased and gutted with her own thoughts, "I'm sorry Kai!" She screamed in anguish.

"You could have asked me, I'd have said everything. Why were you suspicious but?" He almost snapped,

"Please Kai! I'm really, really sorry. The situation tricked me, believe me. Even Tala was with me!" She held his wrist, and pleaded,

He stared at her- hurt and disappointed.
"Say something, please. I'm sorry I got you wrong. I-I should have trusted you, I'm sorry," her voice wavered, and she heaved in fears, clasping his wrist tighter.

He didn't say anything; stoically and sharply stared at her. Her glassy eyes lowered from his and she muffled her cries, leaving his wrist. She couldn't believe what she had done. She was so wrong.

"Hn," he softly enveloped her in a warm and protective forgiving hug, wrapping both his arms on her back. She shook in his chest, drenching his shirt with her tears, mumbling sorry- still. He caressed her head,

"Shush, it's enough. Stop crying." He tried to pull her back but she clutched his shirt and kept her head burried in his shirt, biting her lips and preventing her cries,

He sighed and caressed her back soothingly,

"Its okay, I forgive you, Misty." He kissed her on head. She pulled back, but her gaze was lowered,

"Did you had your dinner last night?" He asked. She nodded in no.

He sighed, "You'll get sick, Misty. You should take care. Such things shouldn't interfere in your health," he said gently. She nodded obediently, "I'm sorry."

"Go, wash your face first." He said. She nodded and quickly got cleaned.

Closing the bathroom door after she walked into the room, her eyes fell on the bouquet that was kept on the bedside table. Kai was busy in searching something from his wardrobe. She quietly took the bouquet and whiffed the fragrance of the roses. It was magnificent and sweet. She kissed the roses' petals and smiled, setting them back. He sauntered towards her with a red-velvet small box.

"What is it?" She asked, lifting her eyes from the box to him.

He opened the box, and it revealed a beautiful ring inside it. The entire ring was studded with pin point rubies with a central oval diamond on centre. Without saying anything, he took her hand and lovingly pushed the ring into her petite ring-finger. She kept gazing at him affectionately in the process.

"Happy 2nd Anniversary," he said her, holding her hand, that pretty hand with a loving gift on it.

"I-I don't know what to say... thank you isn't enough-" she blushed in her feminine charm. He softly kissed her lips and quickly moved back, "Its okay, I can understand if you've forgotten about our Anniversary. Blame the busyness,"

"When did I say that I didn't remember?" She smiled at him.

"Hn?"

She tenderly laughed and went to take out a black checkered shirt and watch for him, packed neatly in gift wrapper.
He smirked looking at the floral packs, "You bought these?" He was amused,

"Of course," she handed him. He didn't open them, just took them and placed it aside on bed,

"I'll check them later, first I've to check on you. You had fever last night," he placed his fingers on her forehead. She shook her head,

"No I don't," she sighed, "Open the gifts, Kai. Please?"

He smiled at her, sat along with her on bed and proceeded to open them. He absolutely liked the shirt and the brilliant black watch.

"I'll wear them tonight," he pressed her fingers on her wrist and assured.

"Did you like them?" She asked curiously,

"Not more than you," he rubbed her head,
She gleefully smiled, shifting herself closer to him and hugging him dearly.

"Hn, you've to learn to trust me, Misty. Always," he said calmly after few minutes,

She swiftly pulled back, "I will, I will. Promise." Her voice was earnest.

He nodded, "Max is bringing the cake I ordered, at evening. I think Raul and Ray are coming too. We have preparation to do I guess,"

"Oh my God! Then I've to cook so many dishes for them!" She quickly got up,

"I forgot to say you. But it's just two of them I guess," Kai said,

"Kai but still! I've to start preparing from now on! My cousins are coming too, they won't stop eating anytime!" She quickly tied her pony into a bun, wearing her slippers,

"You'll not abandon me like this after we get kids, will you?" He smirked at her, walking from bed and holding her wrist,

She bashfully looked away, "There's time for that, Kai."

"Still..."

"Fine, I won't." She pulled away her wrist and gave him a quick kiss on forehead, "Your priority is reserved permanently in my heart. No one will replace that,"

He chuckled watching her run away in cute pink blushes. Then he was entirely contended, very heartily- that Misty will not leave him, neither would abandon him anytime. He watched at her working in kitchen, and smiling at maids, waiting for the beautiful evening and night to unfold for them. He wondered if she liked the ring, if she would like how the cake tasted, if she could see him daily- that despite his busy scedule and life, he still loved her the same, and she held the most important place in his life and heart, an indelible status in his everyday life. Didn't she know it already?

The End.

A/N: So how was it? :P See, Kai chose the correct person, didn't he? Respect your wives, guys. They are your life-partners! Take care about them and don't hurt them. Their feelings are tender.

Ahmn, this story is officially over now. ^_~
