In the following weeks I wound up pulling out from my classes. I was disappointed at myself for doing it, but on the other hand I needed time to just rest and recuperate.
Jeremy kept true on his word and he stuck around me a lot more. It was kind of nice. After the wedding he and I hadn't been hanging out as much and I had missed it. I guess that's why I sort of "replaced" him with Damon for a while there. And Damon...he kept some distance. I felt bad that I wasn't hanging around with him as much.
I figured I could have a small group of us together and that way neither one of them would feel left out. So I told Jeremy to bring Bonnie over. I asked Elena but she and Stefan had plans, I also asked Caroline and she said she'd come. So at the very least I'd have other females there so things wouldn't get awkward.
Well...at least I thought that's what was going to happen. Caroline had called twenty minutes beforehand to tell me she couldn't make it, her mom was sick and she was staying home with her.
"Hey there." Jeremy smiled and I pulled him in for a hug.
"Thanks for coming. Where's Bonnie?" I asked.
"She's sick. She stayed home. I offered to stay with her but she told me I should come so...here I am. Where's Caroline?"
"Something must be going around, her mom is sick she called and said she was staying home with her."
Damon showed right then and walked past Jeremy towards me.
"Hi gorgeous." he walked in and kissed me on the cheek. Subtle Damon...real subtle.
"Where's everyone else? I thought you told us to be here by 8:00?" he asked.
"Apparently everyone is coming down with something. Bonnie and Caroline are not coming." I told him.
"So...it's just us then?" Jeremy seemed uncomfortable.
Well...this was awkward and not at all what I was planning.
"So..." Damon began as he plopped himself on the loveseat "What flick are we watching tonight?"
"Oh I didn't tell you? Magic Mike!" I smiled, trying to lighten the mood.
"Sweetheart if you want some hot guy to dance around naked for you I'm right here you don't need to waste your money on a movie." Damon responded.
"For fuck's sake Damon..." Jeremy huffed as he sat down on the couch.
"Come on, Jer. You're pretty ripped too. We could give her a show." Damon smirked.
"Ooooookay maybe that wasn't a good joke." this was getting really awkward and I felt like Damon was making it that way on purpose.
"Fifty Shades of Grey?" Damon asked.
"I would rather stab myself in the eye with a fork than watch that movie." I replied.
"Wow!" Jeremy laughed.
"No we're going to watch The Girl on the Train." I put the movie in the player and hit play.
"Do you know what that movie is about?" Damon asked, a smirk on his face. What was he smirking about!?
"From the previews it looked pretty good. It got good reviews, too. Plus Luke Evans is in it so...plus for me! Why have you seen it?" I sat down on the couch next to Jeremy.
"Yeah I've seen it." his smirk turned into a grin.
"Well don't give away the ending, okay?" I replied as I started the movie.
We sat and watched and made a few jokes here and there. It wasn't going so bad, the awkwardness from earlier seemed to go away and we were having a good time. About twenty minutes into the movie I began to feel a headache coming on.
"You guys keep watching. I'll be two seconds." I said as I headed into the kitchen.
"You sure you don't want me to pause it?" Jeremy asked.
"No I'll be two seconds I swear!" I yelled back to him.
"Hey bring us some more beers while you're in there will you?" Damon called out.
"Yes Damon I'll bring you guys more beer." I rolled my eyes.
I quickly grabbed one of my migraine pills and swallowed it down and grabbed two beers and headed back into the living room, hoping I hadn't missed much.
I walked back in to see Damon with a smile on his face and Jeremy looking uncomfortable as they both stared at the screen.
"What's going on?" I turned towards the tv to see what was happening. Of course I had walked in right during the middle of a sex scene in the movie and a rather steamy one at that. Luke Evans and the blonde were having sex in the shower and for a moment I just stared at his body on the screen and then I glanced over at Damon and saw him staring at me with a smile on his face. I knew exactly what he was thinking about. Us. In the shower. Having a very similar experience.
"Okay..." I put the beers down on an end table and grabbed the remote and turned off the movie "That's enough of that movie." I was flustered.
"Well I was enjoying it." Damon replied.
"Of course you were." Jeremy spat out.
"Well since we're not going to finish I'll tell you, her ex-husband did it." Damon grabbed the beer I had set down on the table and took a drink.
"Okay. Let's find something else to watch then." I sat down again next to Jeremy and I was looking through the streaming channels to see If anything was on.
"Dirty Dancing!" Damon said amusingly.
"You like Dirty Dancing?" Now it was Jeremy's turn to be amused.
"Hey, Patrick Swayze is awesome. He and I went way back." Damon answered.
"...you knew Patrick Swayze?" Jeremy asked.
"Of course I did! I taught him everything he knew in that movie!"
"Oh god here we go..." I rolled my eyes and Jeremy and I looked at each other. We both burst out laughing.
"Hey...you guys laugh all you want. I'm telling the truth here. I could have been Johnny Castle but you know...vampire. So I let good old Pat have the role instead." he took another drink of his beer.
The tension from a few moments ago had left and we were watching the movie and laughing at the cheesy parts. Truth be told I did love that movie too and I was having fun. But that migraine of mine was still coming on and the first pill I had taken didn't touch it. I was about to excuse myself to the kitchen to grab another migraine pill when Jeremy stood up.
"Bathroom. I'll be right back."
"I'll pause it. I need to grab something, too." I said as I headed towards the kitchen.
I quickly swallowed the second pill and then I heard Damon behind me.
"Did that first movie bring up some memories?" he whispered, coming up behind me and placing his hands on either side of the counter around me. "Seemed like deja vu, didn't it?"
"That's enough Damon." I warned, pushing him away and heading back to the living room. Truth be told it did bring back those memories and that's why I stopped the movie. I could still feel his hands all over my body, him being inside of me, all of the dirty things he whispered in my ear that drove me crazy. But I didn't dare say it, and I quietly went back to the living room to sit down and when Jeremy returned we started the movie back up.
Before the movie could finish, however, my head was really pounding. Neither pill had made a difference and it was getting to the point of light and sound starting to bother me.
"You guys...I hate to cut this short. I'm really not feeling well."
"Violet your nose..." Jeremy quietly said "another migraine?" he asked.
"A bad one." I replied.
"Damon you should go, I'll stay here with her."
Damon had been just staring at me with a concerned look on his face.
"No I think I'll stay, too." He and Jeremy began to argue.
"You guys please...stop. It's so loud. You can both stay it's fine just...help me upstairs."
They both helped me to my room, an arm wrapped around each of mine, and led me to my bed.
"Do you need anything?" Damon asked me.
"No. Just...be quiet please." I told them.
They sat there in my room in the dark not saying anything for a while and I was grateful that they didn't seem to mind. My head was so bad...it was never this bad before. What was going on?
"Violet...your nose is still bleeding. I don't think this is good." Jeremy whispered.
"Jeremy I'm fine just..." I bolted upright and ran for the bathroom. The pain had gotten so bad that I started throwing up. And didn't stop.
They both stayed in my room for the first ten minutes but when I didn't come out they came in.
"You're still throwing up?" Damon asked, kneeling down next to me and pulling my hair away.
"It's fine it's just from the headache." I whispered.
I was in there for an hour and I was throwing up non-stop. They took turns holding my hair back and trying to get me to drink water but it was no use. It would just come right back up.
"I don't like this." Jeremy said nervously.
"Violet, maybe we should get you to the hospital." Damon said.
I didn't have time to answer because I threw up again and when I looked I saw blood.
