After the first day I felt excited for the week. That night Charlie and I had takeout and hung out in the living room. He watched a sports game, and I worked on some of my homework. The next morning I went to school a little early, to see if I could go to the library during my study hall, instead of the classroom. Luckily, Ms. Brown agreed, as long as I signed in to the library before the bell, and stayed there for the entire period. So I went to the library, and set up my laptop at a table in the back, to hopefully avoid distractions. I managed to get a couple of assignments done for my Italian and Greek classes, I was so happy mom and Charlie agreed to split the cost of getting me an unlimited phone plan, because that meant I could use my hotspot to submit my assignments. My Italian and Greek classes were actually based from those countries, and the people in charge of grading my work were very excited about me learning more about the cultures of their countries, once I became fluent enough to read some of their historical texts. Marcus, my Italian tutor was actually an old friend. He had helped me out of a bad situation back in Phoenix when I was younger. And my Greek tutor, Felix, had been there too. In government, we talked about the election process, probably because this fall was the next big presidential election.
In Chemistry, the Cullens and I exchanged phone numbers and when I mentioned that I didn't drive, but was willing to host project work sessions at my house, Emmett offered to drive us to my house if we decided to have a project work session after school. I get the feeling that Rosalie doesn't really like me. In Physics, Jasper and I get assigned to work together on a trebuchet project. Well I guess I'll be spending a lot of time with him, I hope that Alice doesn't get jealous.
On Wednesday, I fly through the pre-unit tests in Spanish and French, and since they are electronic, they get graded right away. The teacher can see on their screen that I've finished the assignment, so they both ended up unlocking the next assessment, and that continued until I had finished all of the exams for both classes. My Spanish teacher kept me after class to tell me that I had just tested out of her class. She gave me a note to give to the office lady to let me go to the library during the 2nd period. In French, my teacher asked me to bring a note to her cousin, the AP French teacher, to have me do a placement test to see if I was on level with where they were. Luckily the AP French class was in the same time slot.
At lunch I sat with Angela, Jessica, Mike, and Eric. We talked about who we would vote for between Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. I said I would vote for Beyoncé. I left lunch a little early to bring the note to Mr. Bernard and he said that he had a beginners French class 1st period, and I could come take my placement test in his room in the morning. Art class was fun, we started working on sketching sculptures. I hope this means that we will get to sketch something at a museum. Health was fine, we talked about how to make a meal plan. I learned how to do this with my doctors back when I was still coming to terms with my diagnosis. But still, the teacher is making it fun.
When it came time to leave for the group, I really did not want to go, I was not feeling very people-y at all, but I knew that meant that I needed to go. I was surprised to see Rosalie there though. But when the peer-leaders began talking, I understood better. This group was for people with stuff like depression, bipolar, and mild PTSD. I didn't end up sharing. But a lot of the other's did, and that made me feel better. Rosalie didn't share either, but that is okay. Nobody should feel like they have to share their personal crap with anyone that they don't want to.
Thursday morning, I let my study hall teacher know that I was going to be in Mr. Bernard's room during study hall. As my French IV teacher had thought, I tested right into AP French, although I was a little behind my new classmates. Government was slow, the teacher decided to go more in depth into the electoral college. I'm pretty sure I learned this in middle school, but it was nice to have a mental break after focusing on French that morning. In both Chemistry and Physics we were told to work in our groups on our project. Luckily for me, (and Jasper too I guess,) the school is so small that those classes are taught by the same teacher. This meant that when our chemistry group got permission to work in the library, Jasper and I were told that we could just stay in the library for Physics also, as long as we promised to work on our project for that class. After Physics, I decided to work in the library for a while, and do some work for my independent studies. This made it easier, since Charlie's shift was not going to be over until 4:30 anyway, and this way he could just pick me up on his way home. We needed to go to the grocery store anyway.
Friday was nice. I had a new free period first thing, which meant that I was able to play on my computer for a while. French was fun, I actually learned something new! In art class the teacher told us that after Valentine's day we would be going on a trip to Port Angeles to see the Webster's Woods Art Park. We would be sketching some of the statues in the park.
After school, I walked over to Dr. Grant's office for my weekly appointment. We talked about how school was going and how I was settling in. It went well. I feel good for now.
