A/N: Just rewatched AYITL after all these years I am sorry but I dont get why people dont like Luke and Lorelai in it, they took my obession to a whole other level, them a famly having film nights and taking paul anka for a walk and the way they look at each other makes me drool, and one lie does not make their communication bad, name one couple in the show with perfection communication, there isnt one. Chapter Seven
Hiding the pregnancy was harder than Lorelai thought. She was still being sick which was hard to hide from her daughters, and that week her game was nearly given away when April found her eating an apple.
"I lost a bet with your dad if he lost he would have had to eat a burger" Lorelai replied pulling a face as she ate the apple even if she enjoyed it.
"Oh what was the bet?" she asked as she grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Who would break down crying first in an argument between Taylor and Kirk, I said Kirk, I lost" Lorelai replied.
"Speaking off them two, town meeting tonight, one of my favourite parts about visiting" April replied happily.
The town meeting started and the extended Danes/Gilmore/Nardini family were on the middle row bored as Taylor ranted on about the price of eggs increasing by 2 cents.
"Why do I let you drag me to these things?" Luke moaned as Lorelai grabbed his arm holding it.
"Because you love us" Lorelai replied. Luke wrapped his arm around her, stroking the side of her stomach with his thumb, knowing he couldn't do anything else in public.
"And now the last issue of today, as you all know next week is our annual yearly couple of the year contest, this year it has been decided Lorelai and Luke will not be allowed to participate," he said as the couple in question shot their heads up.
"What why?" Lorelai asked already becoming upset
"Because it's an unfair advantage, no-one else can win" Taylor replied. It was true. Lorelai had lost once since the contest started in 2007, and that's only because she had entered with Christopher, in fact, they had come in last, the town was not feeling their relationship at all, the next year in '08 after her and Luke rekindled they had won and had won every year after that. Lorelai loved the competition, she got matching tops for her and Luke she forced him to wear, matching baseball caps and badges with their faces on it. Luke hated the whole thing, but he knew Lorelai loved it, they didn't have to do much anyway, they would win if they turned up in binbags, the town just loved them.
"Well they are THE star's hollow couple" Babette replied knowing they were the favourite couple who had ever lived in the town.
"There is no point in having other contestants or the competition with the two of them in it" Taylor replied
"My wife loves the competition and we haven't even entered the last few years, people enter us before we get the chance" Luke replied
"Yes, it's our biggest family day of the year after thanksgiving!" April replied knowing they all dressed up in them horrible tops Lorelai loved so much.
"Does anyone else have comments?" Taylor asked. Kirk raised his hand.
"I vote for Lorelai and Luke every year so I won't have anyone to vote for," Kirk said in his normal strange tone.
"Vote for Sookie and Jackson" Taylor replied
"But I want to vote for Lorelai and Luke" Kirk replied blinking.
"People I am trying to make this competition fair," Taylor said frustrated.
"But we like they always win, we go for the fun, not the results, we know them beforehand" Gypsy went on. Suddenly there was a sound of a chair scraping and an upset Lorelai walked out, emotional and unable to help crying her favourite time of the year after Christmas was ruined.
"Oh well done Taylor!" Rory said clapping her hands as Luke slipped out to see his wife who was crying on the steps.
"Sorry...hormones I guess...I couldn't help it" she told him as he sat next to her, cuddling her and caressing her stomach as he did so.
"Ignore Taylor, with that crowd in there we won't be banned," he told her kissing her temple.
"I know...sorry I might be crying a lot soon," she said leaning her head on his shoulder.
"You cry all you want, I will provide the shoulder," he told her causing her to giggle. She put her hand over his on her stomach and held it there.
"I love you, and I hope everything goes okay so I can buy this child a baseball cap like daddy's" Lorelai replied planning to buy a matching one as soon as she could.
"I somehow knew that was coming, I saw the one you bought for Rory's" Luke chuckled.
"Even if it's a girl, she's going to have the backwards baseball cap down from birth" Lorelai replied.
"Well let's hope they look like you at least" Luke replied, still after all these years thinking she was the most beautiful woman he had ever met.
"Aww baby, let's hope they have their daddy's giant heart" Lorelai replied stroking his face and leaning in to kiss him, just as the door slid open of Patty's and the town piled out. The couple took their hands quickly away and stood up.
"You are still allowed to enter, I started throwing bread rolls at him until he caved" Rory replied.
"And I threatened to sneak in his house when he's asleep and recite the periodic table to him through a microphone" April replied smirking.
"You two have spent way to much time with Lorelai" Luke replied smiling.
"I taught them well" Lorelai replied happily.
The next day Luke was arguing in the diner with a customer as he had stopped serving eggs.
"I told you my daughter is pregnant, eggs make her sick" Luke told him.
"But I paid for a breakfast with eggs" the traveller moaned
"I can give you extra of whatever you want" Luke went on
"I want eggs," the man said
"I am not cooking eggs, or lemon tea, or cherry pie, or anything with onion right now as they make her sick" Luke said as he realised now he had two pregnant woman he would properly not have a menu left soon. He laughed.
"How is me not getting me eggs funny?" the man replied angrily.
"Oh stop moaning, go next door to doozies and buy eggs if you care so much," Luke told him, fed up if his complaining.
"I like the extra hash browns Luke, I am glad you aren't serving eggs" Kirk replied.
"Thanks, Kirk, but you do realise you normally can just ask for extra hash browns right?" Luke replied.
"I MISSED EXTRA HASH BROWNS ALL THESE YEARS!" Kirk screamed before crying gently as the sad thought entered his mind.
