A/N: This takes place right as Phantom Lord is about to attack.
"If Lucy is their real target they're bound to attack. And I would bet it's sooner than later. Right now, we just have too many wounded to put up much of a fight," said Cana taking a sip of her beer. Mira turned back to the lacrima. "Master's seriously injured and we can't seem to locate Mystogan. You're the only one left we can turn to. Help us Laxus," she said. Laxus looked at Mira through the communication lacrima completely irritated. "We could really use you about now. Fairy Tail is in terrible danger."
"Man, Makarov is frickin' pathetic," he laughed while throwing his head back. "I don't see how this is remotely my problem. You're big girls. So, deal with it yourselves," he said. "So, you're not going to help us!" shouted Cana. "Course not. Why would I? That Senile old toad started this. Why do I have to be the one to clean up his mess?" "Please Laxus, Phantom's trying to kidnap Lucy," said Mira. "Who? Do I even know her? Ooh, wait. Is it that new girl? I'll tell you what if you can talk blondie into being my woman, I'll do anything she wants," he said. "You are such a pig!" shouted Cana. "Are you sure you want to talk that way to a guy you're begging to help ya?" Cana was about to say something else when Lucy put a hand on her shoulder.
"So, if I agree you will help us?" she asked. He looked at her before smiling arrogantly and nodding. "Lucy you don't have to do this!" shouted Erza. "Yeah, we can do it without his help," shouted Natsu. Shaking her head, she smiled sadly. "Everyone whether we like it or not we need all the help we can get including Laxus. Too many of us are injured so we can't fight with just us. Laxus I agree to your terms. Now come help us," said Lucy. Grinning he cut the communication as Lucy fell to the ground crying. What had she just done? She made a deal with the most arrogant man in Fairy Tail, Laxus Dreyar.
It didn't take long for Laxus to arrive and walked to the basement. "Jeez you let that guild do a number to my guild." He looked around and saw the blonde he made the deal with. Walking up Cana, Mira, Erza, Laki, and Bisca blocked him from reaching her. "Out of the way girls. Blondie made a deal with me and I won't help unless she upholds it," he said. "Like hell we care. How dare you force Lucy into this," shouted Cana. "Yea no real man would make her do this," said Elfman.
"Stop it! Just stop it!" Everyone turned to see Lucy in tears. Laxus looked at the girl as the tears fell. He almost felt sorry for her. "I gave him my word and I never break my promises." She stood up and looked at the man who basically owned her now. Snapping his fingers Bickslow walked up next to him. "Freed you will Protect Blondie and Bickslow if anyone tries to stop her from leaving you know what to do." He was about to leave when he pulled Lucy to him and kissed her full on the lips. When he broke the kiss, he was grinning. "Remember our deal Blondie." With that Laxus left with Evergreen. "Alright babies let's keep the guild in check," he laughed.
Meanwhile Freed walked up to her and smiled softly. "Come along Miss Lucy." Taking his hand, she watched as her family looked at her with conflict in their eyes. As the two of them walked along the streets she heard the fight in the distance as Laxus was taking out the Phantom Lord guild. Sighing she suddenly felt herself being pulled into a hug. "Miss Lucy, I know you feel lost right now, but I promise things will get easier." She looked up at him to see him smiling and nodded. She felt like she could take on the world. Walking to her apartment she walked inside with Freed and sat down on her bed. "Ahh home sweet home." Deciding she wanted to take a bath she grabbed a change of clothes when Freed cleared his throat. "I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I am also supposed to bring you to Laxus' place. Her eyes widened in shock. "What! Why would… Oh I suppose that would be a requirement," she said.
Freed turned away from her as she set her clothes down on her chair. He could only imagine how she was feeling. He told her he would wait outside while she gathered what she needed allowing her some privacy. Lucy was grateful with how kind Freed was. Pulling her suitcase out she started throwing things in not really caring how they landed as Virgo had come out to help. When they finished, she disappeared as Lucy walked out with a single suitcase and a bag. "I'm ready," she smiled. Freed could tell the smile was forced but said nothing. They were walking for a little while when the ground shook so violently that Lucy lost her balance and almost hit her head against a building. She would have if Freed hadn't pulled her into his arms at the last minute. As he held her, she looked up at the green haired man.
"What was that?" she shouted. "That was Laxus defeating Phantom Lord. I suspect he will be returning to his place shortly." Nodding they stood up and she dusted herself off. As she was gathering her things, she heard his lacrima go off. Answering it she saw it was Laxus. "Freed, I just finished. Make sure Blondie is at my house." "Of course, Laxus, we are just about there, but due to the shaking of the ground there is a bit of panic and…" Laxus cut off the communication and Lucy looked at Freed. "We should hurry Laxus isn't a very patient man." Using his script, he created wings and flew them to Laxus' house.
They arrived on the outskirts of town and Freed set her down in front of a small cottage. "This is his house? I always thought this was abandoned," said Lucy. The outside wasn't well taken care of, but the home didn't look that bad. "This once belonged to his mother Kaori. When she was around, I remember Laxus loved to help her in the garden, but his dad didn't take kindly to him playing in the garden." They entered to see Evergreen, Laxus, and Bickslow. "Welcome Blondie." Fear filled her entire being as she looked at Laxus. As he walked towards her it was as if he was stalking his prey. Backing up she hit the door and tried leaning farther away as he grabbed her arm. "OW!" "What a weakling. You got all scratched up," he said snidely. Dragging her away the other three looked at each other.
"What will happen to that girl?" asked Evergreen. "No clue, but she isn't our concern. We should go as I'm sure Laxus will have us on another mission fairly soon." Said Bickslow. "Yes, Laxus will want us to be ready," said Freed. The three of them left while Laxus pushed her into the bathroom. Lucy tried to leave but Laxus grabbed her around the waist and pulled her to the ground. Sitting in his lap she tried to get out of his grip as he tightened his hold. "Jeez Blondie, I'm trying to help ya and you're fighting me!" he shouted. "You could have told me! I'm not used to being dragged around like that! Especially when I'm hurt!" she shouted back. Scowling he pushed her out of his lap, stood up and grabbed a wash cloth from the closet. Running it under hot water he wrung it out and sat back down in front of her. Lucy was looking at the ground playing with the hem of her skirt. "Look at me," he said. She made no move to look at him. Grabbing her face, he made Lucy look at him. "OW! Stop it!" She grabbed his wrist to try and move it, but he didn't budge. All he did is wipe her face gently to clean her scraps. Wincing at the pain she looked Laxus in the eyes. She thought she saw concern in them but shook the feeling off and let him continue. The really bad ones he bandaged.
"Blondie…" She heard the tension in his voice and looked at him confused. "I need you to take your shirt off, so I can check your back." Tensing she nodded. Fighting him at this point would only cause him to get angry and her pain. Standing up once more he grabbed a towel and handed it to her. "Here, I'll be right back." Walking out he left her alone as she unzipped her shirt. Placing the towel over her chest she turned around as Laxus walked back in to see her and stopped. Lucy looked over at him to see him looking at her intently. "What?" she asked nervously. "Your back. This is going to hurt no way around it." Getting the cloth hot again he turned her to face him. Pulling her to him he had her rest her chin on his shoulder. Lucy thought she heard him say sorry as the cloth was place on her back. Screaming she felt him tighten his hold on her waist as he quickly worked on cleaning her wounds. Tears feel and he had to rinse the cloth once more before continuing. Eventually she felt the pain subside. Letting go of her he let Lucy turn around and bandaged her back. Once he was finished Lucy saw what he had went to grab. He handed her once of his shirts. It was a deep royal purple.
He turned around gathering the unnecessary items from the floor. "What happened to you anyways?" he asked. Surprised at the concern in his voice she decided to answer. "I jumped out of a tower," she said flatly. He grinned and shook his head. "Man, the stupidity of you lot." Standing up and buttoning the last button she turned around to see him smirking. Walking out she followed him to the kitchen. As he was grabbing stuff to make food, he saw her just standing there. "Hey, Blondie, just sit down already!" "I have a name! It's Lucy!" She covered her mouth at hearing him growl at her. Lucy didn't know why, but that sound terrified her. "Fine, Lucy then." Lucy sat down and watched as he moved around the kitchen.
Eventually he set a plate in front of her that had spaghetti and meatballs on it. "Here." He sat down as well, and they ate quietly for some time. When he was finishing up, he looked at her with such an intense gaze Lucy started to squirm. "So, tell me why that guild was trying to take you." "My father hired them to bring me back home," said Lucy. "Why?" he asked. There it was that concern she thought she heard earlier. "I have a theory, but to confirm I need to talk to my father." Nodding he stood up and grabbed his dish. "Well then get some sleep we will leave at first light." Shocked she sat there staring at Laxus. "Don't get the wrong idea. I just don't need your old man messing up my guild hall again."
With that he walked out of the room. She was curious but didn't want to investigate further. She was tired from everything that happened today. Lucy stood up and decided to grab her suitcase from the entryway, but saw it was gone. Thinking Laxus took it she saw two other doors on the first floor both of which were bedrooms. Picking one she crawled into bed and closed her eyes.
