President Donovan is eating breakfast while going over reports of Hekmetyar. He was a doctor, was attending an american medical school when the Soviet Union invaded his homeland of Afghanistan. Although he'd only had a couple years training Hekmetyar went home to treat wounded mujahadeen fighters. During this conflict he earned a reputation as a brave man, a warrior. After the Soviet's left the various mujahadeen groups soon began fighting each other. Hekmetyar sided with the taliban and rose through the ranks. After the terrorist attacks of September 11th the U.S. pressured the taliban to turn over Osama Bin Laden, Hekmetyar advocated complying to other taliban leaders. When they refused, and the U.S. invaded, Hekmetyar fought against the american occupation. He also used his family's wealth to help afghan refugees, making him more popular than most leaders on either side. In Afghanistan's recent elections the Taliban won a fair amount of seats in the National Assembly by promising to fight corruption and fix Kabul's sanitation problems. The afghan government was willing to call a truce with them. America had been at war with the taliban for almost 20 years, it was clear that neither side could win militarily. President Donovan was willing to do a phased withdrawel over the course of 3 or four years, after that there would be an early warning system in place, to monitor whether there were any terrorists groups plotting against America. And they had to swear to renounce terrorism and protect the rights of women, as well as religious and ethnic minorities. Donovan assumed this couldn't be easy for a taliban leader, but Hekmetyar seemed to have accepted that this was the best deal his group was going to get. But there were extremist groups who would rather just continue fighting until America was completely defeated, and any one of them could try to disrupt the peace talks with terrorism.

Ted Cofell considered president John Donovan to be his enemy, but it seemed they were both woken up early with a phone call on this morning. To his suprise it was Mila.

.

Mila: Ted?

Ted: Mila? What is it?

Mila: I just came to the restaurant, my father is dead.

Ted: I'm sorry. What happenned?

Mila: It looks like a robbery, but I don't know. I know that you and my father were involved in something, I never wanted to know too much.

Ted: That's a good strategy.

Mila: But if you think that someone is cleaning house, if you and your children are in danger...

Ted: I understand. Take care.

Mila: You too.

.

Ted Cofell woke up his children. Courtney was 17, Ted was ten. Neither seemed particularly happy about being woken up so early on a summer day. But Ted knew that he and his family were likely in danger. He downplayed the danger to his children, but he was clear that they needed to leave immediately.

Cameron woke up next to Rebecca. It was a cliche, an older married man having an affair with his secretary. Cameron had a good alibi, he was a doctor. Whenever he and Rebecca wanted to be together, she would call his wife Kendall and say there was some emergency at the hospital and he couldn't get away. Kendall had no idea that her husband was cheating on her, or so he thought. Someone broke into their motel room. It wasn't hard, this was a cheap motel that didn't bother with expensive locks. This intruder who suprised Cameron and Rebecca was Kendall. Cameron tried to explain himself, but Kendall didn't give him the chance. She took her gun and she shot Cameron five times, killing him. Rebecca screamed in terror, but Kendall called Liam.

.

Liam: It's done?

Kendall: Yes, Cameron is dead.

Liam: Good. Your baby will be delivered safely to relatives. But I can't have witnesses knowing my face.

Kendall: I understand. I do this, my son will be safe?

Liam: Yes, if you do it.

Kendall: Okay.

.

Before the police could arrive Kendall put the gun to her head and used her last bullet to blow her brains out.
