Ted Cofell was driving his daughter Courtney and son Ted jr to the airport. Ted sr was born with the name Borvo Sobrinna in Yugoslavia. In the 1980's Borvo's parents were killed by a terrorist bomb planted by albanian terrorists during the war. At this point 16 year old Borvo was recruited by the League of Communist Yugoslavia, trained by the KGB to be a deep cover mole within America. They gave him the identity of Ted Cofell, a child who died in a car crash before his first birthday, and who would have been the same age and ethnicity as Sobrinna. This operative was suppossed to attend american colleges and infiltrate their financial sector, but he graduated in 1992, less than five months after the Soviet Union dissolved. At this point Cofell switched his allegiance to Victor Drazen and his serbian nationalist group, he helped launder money for them. After the U.S. intervened to stop Drazen and Milosivich Ted Cofell tried to stay off their radar. Cofell hated America, and he hated the muslims, but he also wanted to keep his wife and children safe. After his wife died these people convinced him to aid their conspiracy. America and the muslim world would soon be at war, and hopefully destroy each other, while Cofell kept Courtney and Ted jr safe in another country.

President Donovan is on the phone, speaking with the pakistani embassy. Hekmetyar is staying at this embassy, and has agreed to help stop any potential terrorist attacks. Hekmetyar believes this is most likely the work of his old friend Sabzi. These two had been friends since they fought the soviets together in the 1980s. But while Hekmetyar was always most concerned with Afghanistan, Sabzi sided with Alqueda, believed in a worldwide islamic revolution. When Hekmetyar began talking about making peace with the americans Sabzi branded him a traitor and began plotting to have him killed. When this call ended Donovan began talking to Santos.

.

Donovan: Hopefully his people can provide us with something useful.

Santos: Assuming they want to.

Donovan: Hekmetyar seems serious about peace.

Santos: He is, maybe. Have you ever heard of the stabbed in the back myth?

Donovan: Yes, it's a myth that gained popularity in Germany after the first world war. The basics of the myth state that Germany was winning the war militarily, but that the people were betrayed by their own government. The nazies added an anti-semetic element to this and exploited it for their own purposes.

Santos: And because of this, during the second world war, general Eisenhower was pressing for total victory in Europe. He knew it was neccessary to make sure that the people of Germany understood that they couldn't win militarily, so that the stabbed in the back myth didn't rise again.

Donovan: What is your point?

Santos: Hekmetyar might be serious about peace, he might even understand the neccessity of protecting women and religious and ethnic minorities. But Sabzi and others are already branding him a traitor. A version of the stabbed in the back myth will gain popularity in Afghanistan, we need to defeat the taliban militarily.

Donovan: We've tried to do that for almost 20 years. We have soldiers serving and dying in Afghanistan today who were not even born yet when we first invaded. We could keep this, and 20 years from now soldiers who have not yet been born today will keep dying. Or we could sit down and negotiate with our enemies.

Jack Bauer woke up his beloved Audrey. They needed to leave soon. Two years ago, when her father was president, Jack and Audrey conspired together to rid the world of nuclear weapons. They worked together with a known terrorist, Ishmael Ali, gave him a weaponized Cordella virus. Ishmael had operatives in ten countries, all ten nucler powers, forced them to dismantle their nuclear stockpiles. It worked, but the virus got out in America. Over ten thousand people died, one of who was Michelle Dessler. Jack and Audrey's role in this was discovered, and they fled. Jack feared that however far they fled, Michelle's husband Tony Almeida would hunt them to the ends of the earth. Jack and Audrey were meeting their contact and fleeing the country, hopefully forever.
