Author's Note: I'm... very surprised over the fact that there's quite literally no existing Sonic SYOC on this website as of now. You would think someone would at least make an ironic one, no?
I'm bored enough to want to do it myself.
If it wasn't for the rules of this website, I would just have this chapter be a big author's note explaining the SYOC, the form, the rules- but it is what it is.
In a broader, scientific gaze, the planet in this new slice of the vast Multiverse was known as "Mobia Terra". Like the first page in a fresh book, stowed away on the shelf from the library of all things. Of all that ever was, and all that ever will.
Its animalistic residents, inhabiting the variety of zones and biomes- merely called it "home".
It served as a home, a society- one that was peaceful and diverse, as the furry inhabitants would like it to be.
Peace, however, cannot last for long. In the shadows, evil brews and deceit stirs. Ancient powers emerge, and threaten to take the world with it.
Will an unlikely hero rise to stop the chaos, to save this newborn world? Or will it crumble under the weight of war?
Only time will tell. And time never stills.
Author's Post-note: As this fills with content, this lower A/N will probably fill with tags and info about the kind of story this is, what it will evolve to be. I would like for it to be episodic, more along the lines of a TV show or anthology- but it all depends on you. Yes, you reading this right now. The characters you submit, the ideas you suggest, it affects everything from tone to length- even the title might change.
But enough of my ramblings. Let's get to what you're here for.
Rules
Please, no "Mary Sue" characters. Everyone has a different definition for what that means, but try not to make a character without flaw. In the same vein, try not to create a character that is *just* flaws, as well. A complete "Anti Sue" is just as bad- we don't want you to always win, but we don't want you to always lose. It's about balance.
...Also, If you're going to submit a troll oc, at least try and be *funny*. I don't want to see Coldsteel the Hedgehog, but if you really can't resist being clever and oh-so-original, at *least* make me laugh.
Addementum: Make sure your original characters are *original*. I don't need Sonic 2, I don't need a character ripped from another series, I need someone who would be interesting to write.
You can submit as many characters as you'd like- but the rule of thumb for this story is that the more interesting and unique the characters are, the more I will write of them. I want a unique, new, and interesting cast.
As mentioned in the actual piece of "writing", this is a new world, a fresh start. Nothing from the games, the comics, the movies, the shows- completely original… Save for the idea of technicolor talking animals who are technologically advanced. Please don't write an OC with a connection to canon- whichever canon you follow.
Please bear in mind the *tone* of your character. While I don't mind darker takes or the occasional edge, I don't need an OC with a grimdark backstory of torture and rape. This isn't meant to be a smut/porn series either, so please tone the sex appeal down as well.
Addementum: Don't try and sneak something kinky past me, either. I've received a few submissions with suspiciously emphasized details. At best, that aspect will be ignored, if the character is salvageable aside from that. At its worst, it will be rejection.
Please be willing to work with me in regards to your submission. I only mean the best when/if I critique, and I'm only trying to fit everyone's submissions into a "cohesive" lore while remaining faithful to the sheets. Your OC probably will not star in *every* chapter, or the chapter right after you submit.
Please submit everything through PM- again, decree. The parenthesis are merely there to explain what each section is, so please erase those sections in the final sheet.
Addementum: You do not have to ask if the SYOC is still taking characters or not, or if an idea you have sounds good to me. I've gotten several messages asking me this, and I've only gotten a good handful of characters. There's no need for pretense, just send me the character, and I'll decide from there, please.
Most importantly- have fun! Don't think too hard about restrictions or being "cringe", get creative, enjoy yourself and make something you can be proud of! This is for fun, in the end.
With all of those disclaimers out of the way, here's the sheet!
Basic Info
Name/Preferred Name: (Most Sonic characters have names that are pretty… on the nose with the gimmick of their character. Some canons seem to imply that these are nicknames or chosen names. You *can* just give them a regular name, or give them a cool name that is their birth name- up to you.)
Nicknames/Titles: (This is moreso the aliases of a character. Such as "The Blue Blur", or "Fallen Angel".)
Age: (While diversity is key, a lot of Sonic characters do tend to be in their teenage years, in the prime of their youth and all.)
Gender/Pronouns: (Again, diversity is key. Male, Female, NB, Trans, whatever. However, for pronouns, I'm only willing to go as far as they/them or it/its, for cohesion's sake. Please don't be a prick about this.)
Sexuality: (While I *did* say no NSFW, romance is not explicitly lewd. I'll ask before I pair your OC with someone. However, if your OC is already partnered with someone, you can put that here.)
Species: (For the Mobian/Anthro characters, go wild with whichever animal you can come up with. Diversity is key, however- as I receive submissions, I may limit certain species. Humans are allowed as well.)
Appearance
Physical Appearance: (Do your best to explain how your character looks. As mobians are sort of… Odd to explain, however, feel free to pull examples or similarities to pre-existing characters. Hell, you can even break it into a list, if that's easier for you. As a side note, don't focus too much on "realism", rather, being memorable.)
Attire: (Sonic characters usually don't wear much clothes- but make mention of your character's footwear, handwear, or any other wear here.)
Alternate Attire: (This only really applies if your character wears much clothes in the first place- what else do they have in their closet? Feel free to list as many outfits as you want.)
Personality
Alignment: (List where your character falls in the 9 alignments, such as Lawful Good, True Neutral, or Chaotic Evil. This will affect your character's role in the story- a hero, a villain, or something in-between.
Addementum: It is okay to make your characters Lawful Good. We've gotten way too many Chaotic Neutrals, and it makes it a bit difficult to start a conflict. Some Evils, some Goods, please. This one is only temporary.)
Personality: (Possibly the most important part of your character. What are they like? What is important to them? What is their outward and inward demeanor, flaws and all?
Addementum: Please make this part at least a paragraph long. 5 sentences at *least*, describing different traits. I've gotten enough sheets for this to be an issue.)
Likes: (Self-explanatory. Things your character adores, from the most simplistic to the most complex.)
Dislikes: (Self-explanatory. Things your character loathes, from the most simplistic to the most complex.)
Fears: (Everyone's afraid of something, right? What could get your character to tremble?)
Quotes: (For me to get an idea of how your character speaks. You can describe their speech pattern or accents, and give examples of things they would say.)
Combat
Equipment: (If your character has any weapons, armor, prosthetics, vehicles, helper robot, etc… List them here, with descriptions of what they look like and what they're capable of doing. However, try and avoid redundancy- a super-speedy character doesn't really need a motorcycle.)
Abilities/Powers: (Aside from things such as super strength or super speed- can your character bend lightning? Do they have a stretching tail? Can they smell and track things from really far? List their powers and the limits of those powers. However, please try not to go overboard.)
Skills/Talents: (Separate from the character's powers- simply things that they're good at. If they're able to play an instrument, or pick locks, or perform surgery… Basically things that anyone could technically do.)
Fighting Style: (Does your character utilize martial arts? Do they wait for their opponent to mess up first? Or do they rely on brute force? Describe the way your character would approach a fight.)
Strengths: (Self-explanatory. What are your character's best traits, be they psychological or physical?)
Weaknesses: (Self-explanatory. Everyone needs an Achilles Heel or two- flaws make an interesting character, whether they be psychological or physical.)
Stats
Speed: (Rate your character's raw speed on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being "I can run a mile in an hour", 10 being "Sonic reincarnated.")
Strength: (Rate your character's raw strength on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being "My punches tickle", 10 being "My fists can recreate the Moon Incident.")
Agility: (Rate your character's raw agility on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being "proudly clumsy", 10 being "I backflip doing parkour.")
Endurance: (Rate your character's raw endurance on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being "made of glass", 10 being "immovable object.")
Intelligence: (Rate your character's intelligence on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 being "does not think", 10 being "Einstein wants what I have.")
History
Homeland: (As this is a new world, I'll need to do some worldbuilding. A description of the "zone" they hail from- whether it be a sprawling desert, a bustling city, or a deep ocean. If you can name the place as well, it would be appreciated.)
Affiliations: (If your character is a part of some sort of group, list that here… Or, if they were a part of a group. If they're a loner-type, or just starting out, you can leave this blank.)
Current Residence: (Do they have a house? A castle? Do they set up a tent everywhere, or live off the land? Describe your character's living space and its conditions.)
Biography: (Your character's past, that which defined who they are now. Again, please try not to be *grim*, but darkness is welcome.)

Theme Song: (What's the song that plays whenever they enter a room?)
Handedness: (Left? Right? Ambidextrous?)
