Being with You Until Morning

Author's Note: Been a long while since I last wrote a KOF story. First off, just hear me out: I really want to write more KOF stories, but due to hearing about how the community is nowadays, it makes it way more difficult. This is fanfiction. I don't know why people want to keep it as canon as possible. That's boring.
A-anyways, at least I still have my supporters with me, so that's good. Please enjoy.
It's a beautiful night. Clear sky, twinkling stars and chirping crickets. Leona Heidern is taking a nice long walk to clear her mind after intense training and missions for the day. There, she sits down on the bench, watching the stars before her. How long has it been since she last saw them? All while outside in the fresh air? She's glad she's doing this at this time of night. A small smile appears on her face, staring at the beautiful stars above her. It actually makes her feel relaxed and happy to see that something like this can make her smile.
I wish Mai and Athena could see this with me, she thinks.
Like Leona, they've been busy with their own stuff. Mai is out training while Athena is doing her idol work, plus training with her Psycho Soldier team. It's understandable that they aren't giving their time to Leona like they used to for the past week, but the soldier girl still longs for their presence. She lets out a soft sigh.
The one person she longs most is Athena. She loves Mai as well, but ever since Athena declared her love for her, it has softened her quite a lot. The idol has reached her heart like cupid's arrow. Her sweet and kind nature is what led Leona to return those feelings to Athena. If only she were able to repay that kindness.
Athena… she thinks.
Just then, she hears someone screaming from a distance, making her jump to her feet. That voice…it sounds like it belongs to Athena. Which can only mean one thing.
"She's in trouble!" she says to herself.
She makes a run for it, trying to figure out where the sound is coming from. She can hear screaming again, which makes her run faster and faster, without running out of breath. She has to get to Athena before she gets hurt. She arrives to down on an open street where she looks around and then straight ahead, on the sidewalk near a wall, her eyes widen at the sight of Athena lying on the ground with a man who's holding a knife next to her. Did he kill her? Seeing something like this infuriates Leona. She stomps over toward the two and shoves the hooded man away to get to Athena's aid.
"Athena! Athena!" Leona shouts as she tries to shake her awake. Luckily, she's not wounded, but she must have been knocked unconscious by this man and he would've killed her on the spot if the soldier girl hasn't showed up.
Leona grits her teeth and turns toward the man after gently setting the unconscious idol down. The hooded man lets out a soft gasp as he can see something strange. Leona lets out her emotions, something that she would never do, but when it comes to one of her beloved's…this…is one of those exceptions. Her eyes glow yellow and her hair turns red. As quick as a flash, before this man could blink, or even react, he is stabbed through the heart by Leona's very own hand. The Orochi girl lets out a snarl and pulls her hand away, shoving the man away and he's immediately dead. Orochi Leona lets out a huff, a snarl and turns toward the unconscious idol. Seeing her in this state calms her down, turning her back into her old self. She feels blood on her right gloved hand where she had stabbed the man, plus on the rest of her arm. Luckily, there is a water fountain nearby, so she's able to clean it off before drying off and turning to Athena.
Leona bites her lip as she tenderly picks her up, bridal style. This man could've done worst things if she hadn't shown up and she's very glad she arrived just in time, but seeing her like this…
"Athena…" she says. "Athena, please wake up."
Fortunately, the idol hears her and her eyes flutter open. Leona lets out a soft sigh of relief.
"Leona…san…?" she whispers.
"Don't worry….you're safe," Leona says softly. "Can you walk?"
"I-I think so…" the idol replies. "You can put me down now."
Leona gently does so. "Why are you out here alone anyways?"
Athena slightly turns away, biting her lip. "I had a concert tonight and I had to sign a lot of autographs. So…I was on my way home when this man approached me, asking for a moment with him. I refused cause I so tired and then…he threatened me. I was so scared…"
Leona immediately hugs the idol, making the cute purplenette's eyes widen in surprise. "Don't be. Because you're with me. You're safe now. I…I took care of that man for you."
"L-Leona-san…you don't mean…" Athena asks before Leona nods. "Oh, Leona-san…" She returns the embrace. She then pulls away to gaze into the soldier girl's slanted eyes, only to see a stray tear fall from her cheek. "L-Leona-san…are you…crying?"
Leona bites her lip and turns away. "I thought you'd never…see me like this. I was about to lose you. No…everyone…who is a big fan of you…were about to lose you. I didn't want that."
"Hey, hey, hey, you saved me right?" Athena cups both hands to the taller girl's cheeks. "I'm still alive because of you. Everything is okay."
"Of course…" Leona sniffles. "I'm still…carrying out my private mission, after all." She wipes the tears from her eyes. "Anyways, I should walk you home. It's very late."
However, when she turns to leave, she can feel Athena embrace her from behind, burying her head against her back.
"Athena…?" Leona says.
"No…I want to stay with you," the idol begs softly. "Please…I just feel…so safe when I'm around you. Just for one night, okay? Please…?"
Leona feels like crying again, which she rarely does. This girl is desperate and after what happened earlier, she will not risk losing Athena again.
"Alright. Let's go to someplace private…where no one will bother us."
"Thank you….Leona-san…"
**20 Minutes Later**
Athena and Leona pay for staying at a love hotel for one night, as it is Leona's idea. They bathed together and now are finding some lovely short night gowns in the drawer to wear in the big bed, but Leona stops Athena from doing so. She'd rather sleep naked for this occasion, which confuses the cute idol.
"It's a love hotel…right?" Leona says. "I want to, um….give all my love to you…as much as possible."
Athena swoons at her cool, stoic expression staring at her. "L-Leona-san…yes…I would like that very much." She drops the nightgown and plunges herself in the soldier girl's arms, giving her a brief kiss on the lips. "Give me all of your love…~"
"Will do…" The soldier girl gently pushes Athena onto the bed. "Mission…start…"
The two lean in to share a very passionate, loving kiss. Athena wraps her arms around Leona's neck to kiss deeper and they caress each other's tongues with moans coming from both of them. And then…it begins. Athena and Leona make love, touching each other like they've never touched before. Making each other feel good, one after the other and calling each other's names and begging to do more. For Leona, she has never felt so much…bliss. Such eternal bliss when making love. She loves it and she's sure that her beloved loves it as well.
They made love almost all night long. Leona wanted to give all her love to Athena like she promised and she gave it to her. Athena was more than satisfied with that. Then…when they approached their final climax, they are now lying under the covers, sleeping soundly as their hands are intertwined. But Leona is half-way asleep as she looks at the dozed off idol, gently squeezing her hand with a small smile on her face.
"Mission….accomplished…" she says softly and drifts off to sleep.
By the next morning, the sun shines brightly through the window, waking up Leona first. She sits up to find herself still naked from last night, but it doesn't surprise her. All that matters is that she is looking at the girl she loves right in front of her, sleeping soundly. She smiles a small smile.
"Rise and shine…Athena~" she says softly. She reaches down to brush away a few strands of hair away from her face and lightly tap her on the cheek.
The cute idol moans a bit before opening her eyes and sees the soldier girl looking down at her.
"Ohayou…Leona-san…~"
"Ohayou…my love…"
They lean in and share a brief, but passionate kiss.
