I am so very lucky to have you (part 1)

Decided I had so many ideas so I wanted to make a collection of one-shots around this series, not in a specific time order, not specifically fluff or certain relationships, just really anything that has to do with the Ascendance series

This is just a cute fluff between my current favorite fictional ship (JaronxImogen)

Also kinda important note, I also changed it so imogen now has 4 brothers, 2 older and 2 younger, but i'll get into that later... (I don't think it was ever mentioned her having siblings in the books but oh well)

About 7-8 months after TST

Also i'm always open to suggestions!

Jarons POV*

It was getting closer and closer to the point where I was just going to walk out of the room and say nothing. It's not like any of them could stop me. I was the King after all.

I was sitting in the great hall surrounded by a bunch of dizzard's.

And Harlowe.

Lord Fletcher and Lord Hughes, nobleman of mine, were both arguing about weather or not I should be able to participate Silken Stars three nights from now. A celebration of partners that symbolized commitment. One would have a lock and the lady had the key to the lock. On that night there would meet each other privately to lock their lock together. I had planned to spend the entire night with Imogen, but now it seems it would be more of a challenge than I expected.

The arguing was nothing new but this time it was a subject I was more interested in.

Imogen.

"You can't call someone a gnashgab! You happen to be the one who says he shouldn't participate in The Silken Stars." Fletcher argued.

"The celebration symbolizes commitment. What would the people of carthtya think if he ?" Hughes said.

"They would be quiet pleased to that. Their king is doing something good for them. Getting married means this country has a future. We need an heir!" I almost choked at that but instead I clenched the table, my knuckles turning white.

"An heir? With that servant girl!? Thats absurd! Shes meant for the cooking and cleaning, not rulling!"

"Your nothing but a yaldson!" I saw Tobias's eyes widen at that insult. But I barley noticed it because I was to busy standing up to put them both in their places.

"You both are in no place to say such things!" I was more angry at the insult from Hughes. But still, Fletcher had said some foolish things, might as well take to the time to call him out on it too. Even though isn't really worth the time. "You, Hughes, should be counting your blessings for the fact that I am not hanging you this instant. You don't have any rights to say such things about your future queen, who is well above working in the kitchen. She has more intelligence and grace on the tip of her finger than you ever will have in multiple lives." I had to stop to take a breathe.

"And quite frankly it wont matter what you decide I am and am not allowed to do because i'll just end up doing whatever pleases me in the end." Tobias an absent minded nod at that.

There was a long silence.

"If we are all understood, you are all excused for the evening."

"But Your Maj-"

"Your excused Lord Fletcher. Now." He silently nodded and everyone exited except for mott who I'm guessing had a few things to say to me. But now was not the time. I pushed my chair out and started walking towards the door when he began.

"You know I'm usually one to call you out with stupid things you say or do."

I scoffed and said, "Really?"

"But" He continued ignoring the sarcasm, "If i'm being honest, all I can really say is that maybe you aren't a complete royal fool after all."

"I think you have Imogen to thank for that."

He softly laughed, "I suppose we do."

With that I silently left to spend the night with my love.

My everything that makes me good.

Her room was lit by a small candle on her night table and she was lying back on her chair next to her window slowly drifting in and out of focus. I knocked slightly on her window but she didn't look shocked, she of course knew I was coming.

She went to open the door her light blue nightgown drifting with her. It was late but no later that usual for me to be sneaking into her room.

"Are you going to be using the window every time you want to see me in my chambers?" she asked slightly whispering, "Or can you consider using the door maybe?"

"Now where is the fun in that." She just rolled her eyes and began to walk away out of my arms I had pulled her in, "Where do you think you are going? I haven't seen you all day. It was quite dreadful without you." I slightly puckered out my bottom lip.

She giggled, "Im sorry for making your day dreadful. It wasn't my intentions. You where busy this morning and I didn't want to disturb you. Then I was out in town with Amarinda all afternoon."

She was back with my arms wrapped around her waist and one of her hands in my hair and the other on my chest. "You could never disturb me." I said inching closer and closer to her face.

She just hummed while my eyes drifted down to her lips and back up again. At this point our noses where touching. And she softly pressed her lips to mine. But then just like that I turned a soft loving kiss into one much more passionate one. After a few seconds we regretfully pulled away. "I love you, you know I do. So that makes me have to ask why didn't you tell me your name day falls under the night of Silken Stars?" I asked a slow grin forming on my face.

She looked slightly flustered, i'm not sure from the kiss or the question. "How did you find out about that?"

I lifted an eyebrow, "I have my ways."

"It was my mother wasn't it." and she sighed once I nodded "I'd knew she couldn't keep it a secret."

"Why keep it a secret? Not only is it a day to celebrate you, my love, but most people don't even know theirs."

"I never really been fond of celebrating my birthday. Also my parents were lucky enough to know their own and thought me and my brothers should get the same. I still remember when Edmund was born my parents didn't even know what to name him, they just wanted to make sure that they knew the date." She said with a small laugh, "I didn't think you would care to know."

"But I so do like having a reason to get out of meets and anything really, to spend time with you."

"Can we please keep this between us?"

"I still don't get it, but I love you, so alright."

"I love you too" I placed another kiss on her lips. "How was your meet in the great hall today."

I groaned.

That was a sensitive subject that I did not want to talk about, nor did I want her to know the awful things those retched men said about her.

"Was it really that bad."

"Yes, the worst yet I think."

"Worst than when you announced you and Amarinda weren't betrothed anymore?"

"I really don't think there will ever be a meet that awful. Also I completely do not understand, I mean all of Carthya thinks your wonderful. What could be in those bastards heads that got them completely twisted about you?"

"My social class."

I glared at her, "That shouldn't matter though."

"Maybe not, but you know what else shouldn't matter?"

"What?"

"What they think. I am more confused on why you care about what they think rather than what they quite literally think."

"It's only because it's about you. You are so much more than what they think, and I don't understand why they cant know that."

"Because the only thing they care about is money and standards. And you know that."

"I do."

"I'm so very lucky to have you, Jaron."

My eyebrows pressed together and I smirked, "You are, aren't you." She just rolled her eyes and giggled.
