Hellooooo
This is all about protective Tobias, i love him
also i got a question about athoras appearance, and originally i thought of her to have blonde almost golden hair, small freckles and green eyes that matched rodens, but really feel free to picture whatever you want her to look like :)))
Have a good day!
Tobias has never been to fond of sharing. Always at the orphanage he found it hard to fall asleep not only because of the hard mattresses, but the fact that someone else was sleeping inches away. He liked sharing a room with Amarinda though, but that didn't really surprise him.
So when the thought of having to share his beloved daughter, Katherine, with some other boy one day made him sick to his stomach.
But luckily she was only 15 so he didn't have to worry about that quite yet.
At least thats what he kept telling himself.
Even though he knew it was getting closer and closer to that horrid day.
Or maybe that day was already here.
It was early morning and Katherine was in her historian class with Beasley and Mathis, while Pippa and Keaton were off, somewhere. She really didn't even realize they were gone, she was to lost in her thoughts.
But then came a quite knock at the door.
"Yes, come in." said Mr. Dockson, their teacher. Originally, it was planned to have Tobias teach the children, but he doesn't get enough sleep as it is, so they hired another.
Slowly, Pippa and Keaton entered, covered in mud.
Katherine had to stifle her giggle with her hand while the others held their breath.
"What happened to you two?" Beasley asked, "Finally decided to embrace your inner animal, I see."
"A carriage happened to us. You know the one with all the leather for swords or boots and what not. Yes, the heavy one. The one that turned a sharp corner, and splattered all this mud on us."
"If you take a se-" Mr. Dockson had always tried to keep the children in line but he was the shy type, not very authoritative, though nobody said it aloud, they all knew it.
"The leather carriage you say?" Katherine seemed to light up every time she heard it come by.
"Yes, the one where you father always rushing to get it off the palace grounds as soon as it arrives. Why does he do that again?"
"Not sure." Katherine rushed to get all of her books into her bags.
"Lady Katherine we aren't, well.. we still have much more in today's lesson."
"Things that I hope can wait until another day. Im sorry but i'm afraid I have somewhere to be."
"Well... w-what would your parents say? What would your father say?"
Yes that was a bit of an issue. He always had expectations for her in her studies. Ones she wouldn't dare want to disappoint him with.
"Well shouldn't Pippa and Keaton get cleaned up? I bet my parents- all our parents would be rather uncomfortable with us having lessons covered in mud."
"Yes... yes I suppose your right. You all can be released earlier than scheduled today."
"I thank you greatly." Katherine barley got out before shutting the door and marching down the hall to the courtyard where they moved all supplies into the castle.
In fastest pace Katherine could manage she made her way down to the large wooden doors that lead to the steps of the courtyard, but as soon as she opened the door she found her father.
He was standing with his arms behind his back, as if he was waiting for something, or someone perhaps.
"Daddy? What are you doing out here?"
"I guess I could ask you the same thing, Button, aren't you suppose to be in class?"
"We got released early. Your also avoiding my question."
"Some of the leather is for books in the physicians chambers, just making sure they get there."
"Daddy, I know you know i'm smarter than that."
He gave a small laugh, "Of course I know Button, you are my daughter." Katherine giggled as she look back out at the courtyard. "Looking for something?"
"Oh no, just... curious I guess?"
"I have no doubt about that." Tobias had wrapped a protective arm around her, not that she necessarily needed protecting at the moment.
Then she spotted him.
Arron Browne looked up from the large crate he was holding and tipped his head at Katherine, his glasses falling to the brim of his nose in the process.
Arron had dark black hair, and a darker completion in his skin, his silver circular glasses were a bit big on him though, but he seemed to like them like that. Katherine did as well.
She politely waved back. Though she had much more enthusiasm to see him than that, she refrained.
Tobias's arm stiffened around her.
"Button, why don't you come with me down to the garden. I haven't showed you my work in there in a while, and I know you have always been fascinated with the plants growing there."
Ever since Katherine was little she had always loved helping her father with work, and learning about everything he told her. She still felt that way, and every chance she could, she took up the offer to be just like him. I guess thats why she hated her classes so much, she wanted to be learning with her dad, not a random school teacher.
But this time she couldn't, and it broke her to turn him down.
"I would Daddy but, you see I rarely get to see my friend Arron, and I think it would be rude not to say hello to him for a while."
He gave a small sigh, this was why he had always wanted to get that cart off the palace grounds as soon as possible.
Tobias could see the way that boy looked at his precious daughter the moment they met. And although Katherine didn't seem to notice it, or even reciprocate those small feelings, the fact that Arron had them was enough to send Tobias's blood boiling.
"I do though want to see the garden soon, maybe even I can miss a class or two to see it." Tobias laughed a bit of relief, his daughter still had interest in him, thats all that mattered right?
He gave a small kiss on her forehead and made his way inside the castle.
Katherine did spend a but more time with the boy than Tobias had wanted, but later in the day he did show her all that he had been making in the garden.
They both laughed, sharing their stories of their days, and new things they learned. And in those small hours Tobias understood that he still had his daughter.
Maybe he always would, even if he did have to share her.
