It was Nyusi. "What is wrong with you, you bloody idiot? You could have gotten killed," he hissed as he marched her back to the inn.
"I found a way of stopping the Kraal! Shouldn't you congratulate me on showing some initiative?"
"You're facing deadly assassins, you're on a distant planet that you don't know anything about it, you can't speak the language. And I hadn't found you, you probably would have gotten lost."
Jackie was about to object, when something occurred to her. "How did you find me?"
"Easy, I have a cell phone, and I used it to track your cell phone. Now let's just hope the Kraal can't track us, and that we don't run into the Al-Zephani." He quickly muscled her away, neither of them noticing the otherwise incongruous presence of a sixties London police box sitting in the shadows.
Once they were back in their room, Nyusi shoved Jackie into the bathroom. "Now sit there and wait and don't do anything." And he shut the door behind her, and returned to the desk and resumed his calculations. Jackie childishly and pointlessly stuck her tongue out at Nyusi, who could no longer see her, and then sulked. Just then her cell phone buzzed.
"Hello?"
"Jacqueline Hawkins, I believe?" asked the voice of an upper class English woman.
"Yes, who is this?"
"I'm a friend of the Doctor's. Remember when Nyusi said he was looking for a woman who could predict the future? I am that woman. Call me Cassandra."
Outside the bathroom, Nyusi had just made a breakthrough. "I've done it!"
"Done what?" asked Phrropox.
"We can't communicate with the Doctor because she's trapped in her weird little time bubble, and can only talk in brief flashes. Or so we thought."
"Oh?"
"But while she's been trying to talk to us, she's been sending me lists of numbers to my cell phone. They serve as a code, and if I can figure them out, I can understand what she wants and can do something. And now I have!"
"Wh-wh-what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to go outside and try to communicate with her." And Nyusi got up to leave.
Inside the bathroom Jackie was talking to Cassandra. "But why didn't the Doctor or Phrropox mention you? What's going on?"
"It's all very complicated. But you have to listen carefully. Do you have a watch?"
Jackie looked around and saw it was by the sink. "Yeah. But it hasn't been adjusted for the length of the day on this planet."
"Don't worry about that. Pick it up and look at it." Jackie did so. "Now in precisely twelve minutes and twenty-four seconds, you are going to receive a call from Nyusi. He will ask you and Phrropox to meet him. You will agree and follow his directions. There will be four steps to the directions. Follow the first three, but when he gives you the fourth, do the opposite, because it will be a trap. One more thing. Shortly after that, the Doctor will communicate with you. When she does, mention the Malachi circuit."
And Cassandra hung up. And then a couple of minutes later the Doctor appeared. "Wow! That was quite the rush! And not in a good way! I mean the shock of having the telepathic circuits restored was quite the kick. But…where's Nyusi? Oh no!" And then she vanished.
"Eeek!" Phrropox mewled.
Nyusi was about a ten minute walk from the hotel, trying to punch in numbers, and trying to get a signal. "I know I figured this out. What is going wrong?"
Just then there was a buzzing signal, as his phone received a text. Nyusi moved to one of the few streetlamps and tried to take a closer look. Nyusi, who was actually quite handsome as he took off his glasses, looked at the text.
TURN OFF YOUR PHONE NOW
"Turn off my phone?" But just then a weeping angel snapped his neck and caught the phone from his dead hands.
