CTU is preparing for the mission to capture Marcus, and hope he'd be willing to help betray Dubaku and Sabzi. Curtis will go, claim to be Jack and Audrey's representative. In the meantime Gary Miller arrived at CTU. George Mason begins questioning him. Mason has read Gary's file, an orphan who grew up in the foster system, Gary lied about his age and joined the Marine Corps at 16. He served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, participated in a number of rescue operations. During one such mission Gary was wounded and recieved a medical discharge. Gary began working as a security guard at the Holocaust museum, where there was an incident. As he and his girlfriend were leaving the museum some neo-nazi thugs began harrassing them. Gary protected himself and Willow with what some would call "Excessive force." This sent two of the thugs to the hospital and got Gary arrested. The district attorney didn't want to prosecute a veteran who he suspected might have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, so he agreed to probation if Gary would seek counseling and attend anger management classes. Mason also found out, through social media, that Gary and Willow eventually broke up, at which time she began posting online that he was a "Possesive gun nut." Mason's own divorce taught him that there were three sides to a divorce, his side, her side, and the truth. Maybe Gary planted the bomb himself so he could be the hero, maybe he got lucky and was a legitimate hero. Either way, he might be their best lead right now.

.

Mason; Thank you for coming.

Gary: Happy to help. Just wish I'd found the backpack sooner, maybe we could have saved everyone.

Mason: I know how you feel. We were able to stop two bombings, but eight still occured. Any idea who planted that backpack?

Gary: No. I just saw it there, unattended, I just didn't want to take chances.

Mason: Smart man. I understand you were a marine.

Gary: I am a marine. Once a marine always a marine.

Mason: So it would seem. You did two tours in Afghanistan, and still ended up working security.

Gary: It gave me a sense of purpose.

Mason: Not a lot of respect though. I mean some idiots stand outside the Holocaust Museum wearing swastikas and shouting how it never happenned, clearly they want trouble. You protect yourself and your sweetheart and get fired for it.

Gary: I guess I can't blame them, they couldn't have someone with anger issues working security. But I started going to an anger management group that helps veterans. It helped.

Danielle arrives at Kim's house, ready to watch her baby while she went to see her husband. But Kim retrieved something first. Given that she and Jamal were both convicted felons, it was illegal for either of them to own a gun. But this was a dangerous neighborhood, they kept one hidden, just in case. Kim got this gun because she wanted revenge for what happenned to her husband. Someone would pay.
