It was on September 2nd, a couple of days before we went to the Netherworld to go to our respective schools. By that point, I was already thirteen as my birthday was nearly a month ago and not only did I get my wand, but I also got accepted to Warlock Academy, the same school that my dad, Jake Dimension, got accepted into. He got the Golden Wand for being the Outstanding Student of the class of 1426.
You would think that puts a lot of pressure on me but I just go with the flow. I grew up and lived in Greendale for thirteen years of my life and lived a semi-normal life so far. So you know, just a Tuesday for me.
I should describe my parents, given that agreeing to making a deal with the 'Devil' means that I probably won't see them again, or my younger siblings.(In case if you're wondering, my younger siblings wouldn't be born until the end of this tale) Mom and Dad, if you're reading this, I love you and I'm sorry for you feel the way you are now.
My father is the Dread Baron, and my mother is Daisy Mayhem. Sometime before I was born, they changed their names to Jake and Mary Dimension for some reason. I also have a gem amulet that is half green and half black due to my father's friend, Brendaniels, kinda accidentally merged his magic when his magic trick went...wrong.
For as long as I can remember, Sabrina and I had been friends and that's all we were. Though some people did make comments about us dating. *Cough*(Salem, Hilda and some fellow classmates at Greendale Middle School)*Cough* I know she used to have on Harvey Kinkle, who is a klutz but also a 'friend' who I told the truth to. At least about me being magical, not about Sabrina, though I'm planning on doing that eventually.(Hint, probably won't get the chance to if the 'Devil' have her way about my education) Anyways, back to Sabrina's birthday, as me and my parents were heading there to give Sabrina her gifts and much more than that.
See, Sabrina Spellman is a half-witch from her father side, who travels around the world with his new wife, like I am half-warlock from my dad's side. However she is also half-mortal from her mother's side, a human who is dead. For a while, Sabrina's great uncle Quigley lived with her, Hilda and Zelda due to the latter two being cursed to be the same ages as high schoolers for misuse of magic. They only recently got that lifted off of them and Quigley moved to a place known as Aron City for some reason.
Oh yeah, there's also Salem, a warlock-turned-cat because he tried to take over the world and when the Witches' Council were deciding his punishment, he dared them to turn him into a cat. So they did and he lived with the Spellmans, as Sabrina's familiar. We have a mutual bond, in which we make sarcastic comments about each other
Anyways, me and my folks just arrived at the Spellman's place, which was a yellow house that looked normal. But looks can be deceiving. (Madi said it's a wonder that Yellow Diamond doesn't own it. Need to do research on Yellow Diamond, then on Green Diamond and Pink Diamond)
"I can't believe you and Sabrina are heading off to school in the Netherworld soon. It like yesterday you were trying to figure out how to get by in school socially. My sweet little Aaron!" My mom said as she took my hat off to ruffle my curly hair up before putting the hat back on. Despite being a quarter-Saiyan, my hair isn't spiky though it will be now that I'm thirteen. "I'm proud of you, Aaron. Especially with the amount of progress you shown in your training." My dad said, beaming at me.
We soon knocked on Spellman's front door. Normally I would just open it given how many times I would come over but it's Sabrina's birthday so common sense. Sabrina opened the door and smiled at us, though it didn't fool me because I can sense her true emotions. Part of my powers. "Hi Aaron, Mr and Mrs. Dimension. Welcome to the party." She said as she invited us into the house and showed us into the living room, where everyone else is at.
We soon put our presents on the table with the others and my parents started talking to Hilda and Zelda. I normally would pulled out a book and escape to the worlds in them, but due to how Sabrina felt at the door, I pretty sure she needs comfort from me right now. Plus this would be the last time we see each other for a year so I need to make the best of it. Or so I thought.
Soon everyone started singing the birthday song for Sabrina, including me and I couldn't sang a tune to save my life. "For she a jolly good witchling, For she a jolly good witchling, For she a jolly good witchling. Which no one can deny." We all sang for Sabrina as the candles on her birthday cake made a smoky spider before disappearing.
I'm even surprised that Salem even sang, as he usually give Sabrina some sass or something. Salem even have a blue collar with a gold amulet instead of his usual black collar with a red jewel on it. Man I must have missed out on some stuff when I was training to hone my powers over the summer.
"You're all nice. Enjoy the party. Have some punch. Mingle." Sabrina said before turning to look out of the window, looking sad. I haven't see that sad since two occasions: one is the time her father plans on remarrying, though she did accept it at the end and two is when Quigley moved out.
"Where is it? Why isn't it here?" Sabrina said sadly while looking down. I realized she was talking about her wand. I should explain something. See, when a warlock or witch, full or half or quarter or one sixteenth or something like that, turns thirteen, they get their wand and go off to their respective school in the Netherworld. That is the traditions of magical families and that would explain why Sabrina is looking out of the window instead of enjoying her birthday party.
"Our little Sabrina, thirteen years old!" Hilda said in joy. Salem jumped on the table as I stood next to Sabrina about to comfort her. "So, are we going to get to the gift before she turns fourteen?" Salem asked snarkily. There's the Salem I know. I thought with a eye roll towards the black cat.
Zelda put her hand on Sabrina's shoulder to try and comfort her niece. "It'll come sweetheart. Be patient." Zelda said as Hilda came with a plate of cake for Sabrina. "Here, have some cake." She said, handing the plate to Sabrina before looking at Salem. "Salem?" She said, asking him if he wants cake.
Sure, let the cat have cake. I want to know if he can get sugar rush or not. I said in my thoughts. "I'm counting calories." Salem said rubbing his belly before jumping off the table. Hilda conjured up a plate of fish and put it down on the floor in front of Salem. "Of course, those type of calories don't count." He said before digging in. em style="box-sizing: border-box;"And this is the warlock that almost took over the world? It seems like he was born a cat!/em I almost said out loud but kept it in my thoughts, even though these are kind of the same thing I said to Salem over the past year or so.
Sabrina looked at the half star on her right palm, which signals her being a half-witch. Once a witch or warlock approaches their thirteenth birthday, the star or half of one anyways will start to appear on their palm. On their thirteenth birthday is when the star or half star is fully shown.
"Maybe it won't come. Maybe they know about me. About what I am. About what I'm not." Sabrina said while rubbing her arm before looking up at Hilda. "Nonsense. Every witch or warlock gets one on their thirteenth birthday." Hilda said. "But I'm not like everyone witch. I'm different. I'm..." Sabrina said trailing off. "You're special, Sabrina. And don't ever forget it." Zelda said.
I took off the fingerless glove on my right hand to show my right palm, which shows my half star too and pulled out my wand, which is silver with a star on top and a small diamond in the center for some reason. "Plus look at me Sabrina. I'm also different and yet they still give me my wand. If anyone deserves to be at Witch Academy, it's you." I said, causing Sabrina to smile a bit while my gem glowed a bit. "Thank you Aunt Hilda, Aunt Zelda, and Aaron." She said.
We then heard the sounds of a car screeching to a halt outside follow by horns honking, causing a sly smirk to appear on my face. "Well Sabrina, seems like your special surprise has arrived." I said as Sabrina's smile became bigger. "It's here!" Sabrina exclaimed happily as she ran outside, unknowingly dragging me with her just like whenever she got into mischief a year ago. The story of my life. I made that sad yet ironic thought, not realizing how much I would miss the good old days.
The mail man from the Netherworld is a beige pixie in a brown uniform with yellow on the front and was carrying two packages for Sabrina: a big red box and a medium brown box. He was shocked and a bit scared to see Sabrina running to him with me being dragged by her. She then skidded to a stop in front of him, causing me to fly past them and hit a tree across the street. I got up a bit dazed and snapped my fingers, teleporting me next to Sabrina.
"Um, S-Sabrina Spellman?" The mail pixie asked scared. "That's me." Sabrina said happily. "S-sign, p-please." The pixie said while holding out a clipboard with his shaking hands. Sabrina signed the papers before grabbing the two packages with a bit of difficulty as the pixie got back in the mail truck and left.
"Need help?" I asked as Sabrina nodded before I grabbed the medium box while she gasped at the red box. "It's here! It's here!" Sabrina said as we got back inside, Hilda Zelda, Salem and my parents watching from the window along with everyone else. "Hey Sabrina. Look, this one is from your father." I said as I handed her the brown box, which was from her father.
Sabrina opened it only for her father, Edward Spellman, who we haven't seen since the day of the Open House where he and Futura, his girlfriend, were announcing their engagement to the rest of the Spellmans, to pop out of the box like a cheap magic trick but much better. Hey, I call it as I see it, don't blame me for being accurate.
"Dad." Sabrina said as she hugged her father. "Hey, Sabrina. You didn't think I would miss your birthday, would you?" Edward said as he hugged her back before they ended their hugging moment. "How's Futura?" My dad asked Edward in a friendly tone, despite the fact that they hadn't talk to each other in decades. "She ok, just down with a fever. She asleep right now so I can only stay here for a couple of hours." Edward said.
Sabrina walked over to the red box and opened it, with balloons and confetti coming out of the box along with a crystal ball. In the crystal ball is Queen Enchantra, who also gave me the message about being accepted into Warlock Academy and given me the wand I now have and also have changed since the only time Sabrina and I saw her a year ago. Enchantra have a smile on her face.
"Greetings, Sabrina. I am Enchantra. Queen of the Witches." Enchantra said while the adults bowed to her and Salem just continued eating. "Salem." Sabrina said in annoyance that the cat would show disrespect to the Queen like that. "It's a hologram. She can't see us." Salem said nonchalantly, causing Sabrina to grit her teeth in anger.
"Salem, it's not a hologram." I said while doing a facepalm at the casual disrespect. "Show some respect." Sabrina said to Salem. Salem started goofing off in front of Enchantra. "Like this?" He asked in the middle of it as I face-planted this time in shock of what he did.
"I've come to wish you a happy thirteenth birthday. And welcome you to Witchdom. And tell that pile of fur to show some respect or I rip his tail off." Enchantra said the last part angrily, causing Salem to gasp in shock and fear. "Told you so." I said to Salem as I got back on my feet.
"Your wand is enclosed. Use it wisely child." Enchantra said before disappearing while Sabrina looked like a kid who won the lottery as she pulled out her wand, which is purple with a star at the end. "Oh, our little Sabrina." Hilda said as everyone looked happy for her.
"My very own wand. I can't wait to use it." Sabrina said while twirling it around a bit. "But you must wait." Zelda said a bit too late as Sabrina accidently pointed it at Hilda's hair, causing it to stand up while Hilda yelped in surprise. It then rebounded and hit Salem, causing him to lose his fur under his head, having him cover himself with his paws... hands? I don't know.
"Sabrina, dear. A witch uses magic wisely." Zelda said. "Like you two did." Edward said with a smirk, causing Zelda and Hilda to glare at him for a second before sighing in defeat. "Yeah." Salem said, embarrassed about his predicament. "Ok, ok. Here goes." Sabrina said as she used her wand to try and fixed Salem's problem. By putting boxers on him, which caused everyone to burst out laughing. "Sure, little humor at the cat's expanse. Ha ha, ho ho." Salem said sarcastically.
A little bit later(and Salem's fur being back to normal. Boo!)
"All of the guests left, even Edward as he needs to take care of Futura, though he did gave Sabrina one more hug and some words of comfort, like a father would. "Good night everybody. Night Uncle Eustace." Sabrina said before closing the door, as me, my folks, Hilda, Zelda and Salem were the only ones left in the living room. Salem was opening the rest of the presents on the floor as if it was his birthday.
"Just think. Monday, Witch Academy! I know you'll love as much as we did." Hilda said to Sabrina. "We're so proud of you." Zelda added. "Uh-huh. Yeah, proud. Ditto. Very nice, but too red." Salem said as he pulled out a red purse, one of Sabrina's presents.
"You know, maybe show a bit of support instead of looking to see what you can steal." I said to the cat as Sabrina grabbed the purse. "Give me that!" Sabrina said before turning to see Hilda and Zelda looking at the Golden Wands. "Whatcha doing?" Sabrina asked her aunts.
"Just reminiscing. 'Zelda Spellman. Most Outstanding Student. Class of 1643.'" Zelda said, reading the display of her Golden Wand before looking at Hilda from the corner of her eye.
"'Hilda Spellman. Most Outstanding, Class of 1644.'" Hilda said, also reading the display of her Golden Wand.
"Remember the headmistress." Zelda said with a chuckle. "Miss Hag?" Hilda asked with a chuckle. "Oh, how she loved us. And why not?" Zelda asked rhetorically. "We were outstanding." Hilda said. "Don't forget me. Winner of the Magic Amulet." Salem said while showing it off.
"Wait, you went to Witch Academy?" I snarkily said while trying not to laugh but failing. "No, wise guy. It was given to me by great gray tabby of West Forest for wisdom and bravery." Salem said, trying to brag.
"Yeah, whatever Salem." Hilda said, bored and disinterested. "Ha ha. Roasted." I whispered in his ears and moved out of the as he tried to scratch me. "And Sabrina, we know you'll follow in our family traditions." Zelda said before she and Hilda walked to their rooms, leaving Sabrina alone with the displays. "See you tomorrow Sabrina." I said as me and my parents left and walked back to our house.
Soon at the Dimension's Household
"Night Aaron. We're so proud of both you and Sabrina." My parents said as they went off to their bed while I walked into my room. I sat on my bed and took off my glasses and put them on the nightstand next to my bed, along with my wand. I looked at the suitcase that had all of the stuff I packed in it.
I gotten everything packed for Warlock Academy and looked around my room. I don't owned that much stuff, just a couple of game consoles like the GameBoy, DS, and 3DS, and have a lot of books, since I am a huge reader.
That gotten me a good and bad rep inside school. I also have some blank notebooks where I write stuff since I hope to be a writer when I grow up and a lot of VHS Tapes, along with a special laptop that able to play them thanks to a magic spell I did successfully, making it the only laptop that plays DVD and VHS. All of those stuff are packed up along with my clothes for the weekends.
I sat down on my bed and noticed that my Gem on my chest, or could I say Uncle Emerald's Gem, was glowing brightly. "What are you trying to tell me?" I asked the Gem, though know it can't talk to me. I sometimes think that it Uncle Emerald trying to communicate with us, trying to tell us something.
I lay down on my bed and started thinking about my life so far. I had control on some of my powers, I turned Great Ape twice: one time I can't remember, just like that incident that gave me the scar on my left palm, and the second time was during the whole "Harvzilla" incident, when Salem gave Harvey a dragon elixir to help him get revenge on me. Good thing I still remember what happened unlike last time, during the incident that gave me my scar on my left palm.
I also managed to get away from Gem's advances on me due to her having a crush on me. Not saying bad-looking, just I don't date her because of her attitude towards everyone else except for me and Harvey. That and my parents' rules about not dating until I'm at least fifteen years old. If I would to date someone, it would be for their personality and not appearances.
And now I would change parts of the family's traditions go to Warlock Academy. I guess this was now the point where the pressure crash down onto my shoulders. Guess the reason why it took so long is because of how I usually the level-headed one whenever it comes to Sabrina and I.
However, I never told anyone that sometimes I wished someone can take the pressure off of me so I can have my own emotions and feelings. But that would be selfish of me to put that much pressure on someone else.
I also wish that I have full control of all my powers. I love my parents and my friends and that's why I want to control my powers so I can control them. I sometimes think there is someone out there that can train me but that's impossible.
I soon fell asleep, not knowing that this would be the start of a grand, wacky and terrible adventure and the last time I would see my room or my parents.
Meanwhile with Madison
"Well, would you look at this." Said a figure talking to no one in particular while reading the newspaper, "Some poor sap wants to go to the Netherworld to control his powers. The fool will soon realize he'll never be able to control them, ever."
However, she sees a mini demon on the paper. So she just ate it while laughing evilly.
What tricks will she use on our heroes, who knows.
