Soon it was time for classes. Hopefully I can do my best the way I know how to. What Enchantra said did shook me up a bit, but I'm not letting that get to me. I'm ready to learn. Now, if my legs would just move where my brain tells them to go. Move legs, move. We're going to be late. My brain was saying to them. But I don't wanna. My legs apparently said. Sorry if I don't speak the language my body has.
It took ten minutes for my legs to finally move. Luckily, I made it to the cafeteria just as the other students were walking in. Thank Jesus I'm not late for breakfast otherwise I would've to wait till the afternoon to eat. I soon sat at a empty table, while the other warlocks and wiccans were at other tables, talking to each other and telling jokes.
I'm okay with the fact that I sit by myself. Given my shyness when meeting new people, much less talking to them. I don't mind it, since it could be something I could break out of when getting to know that person some more. I pulled out one of the books I checked out and started to read it.
I thought if I learn more about the Devil, then I could find out why Salem told me to not seek him/her out. I read up on 'Deeds Of The Devil: Don't Make Deals With Her', which revealed that the Devil is a she and a lesbian. Not only that, but no one really knows where she came from. Just one day, she came out of nowhere and caused all heck to break loose, just to put it in kiddies terms as I'm not allow to swear for at least another year.
Anyways, it seemed like no one really knows where she is these days, but she will come back one day to finish what she started. Or so that what this unknown author wrote down. The second half of the book mentioned about not making deals with the Devil unless three conditions are met; one is that the situation is really dire and the person felt like they have no other choice, two is that the person making the deal needs to make it for the compassion of others, and three, the person must make the deal on their own will and behalf, no doubts and no loopholes, with their souls being bound to the Devil.
Unless the Devil is the one who makes them, that is. If the person is unable to do what the deal asked them to do, the Devil will owned their souls forever. Now if I know what the Devil looks like and her name, then I know who to avoid when I see her in a crowd.
Again, it's not like Salem and I are exactly buddies-buddies kind of friends. More like the type of friends who make jokes about each other because the other doesn't mind. And yet there are time where I listen to Salem's words and advices, like the whole dare incident. If Sabrina had listened we would had never spent the night there, with me trying not to scream due to the darkness and claustrophobia in the mine caves. I was dead weight during the whole night, having to be dragged by either Sabrina or Salem, I don't know since my mind was blinded with fear.
"Also, I know what it's like to be in Salem's mind, given, well... I was in his body once and he was in mine body. Weird day of my life. Being inside a warlock-turned-cat's body for twenty-four hours just because of a wishing stone.
Anyways, breakfast ended, which means class was starting. I looked at my schedule. Yes I have a schedule, due to the fact that there are times where my mind kind of forget things if I don't have a reminder. One of the accommodations that Alex and my parents had set up for me when enrolling me here to make sure that I can learn without any stress on me. Especially since the last year was full of stress and wacky hi-jinks, trying to hide magic and my other abilities from the mortals AKA normal citizens of Greendale. What was worst, though, is that I've spent most nights up trying to either fix the problem or study for the finals that took place on the last week of school or trying not to have panic attacks from thoughts of being held back a year. That was the straw that broke the camel's back for my parents and the reason why they made the accommodations with Alex.
Anyways, my first class is potion-making which is taught by Mr. Cauldron. em style="box-sizing: border-box;"Really subtle right there. Oh wait, it isn't subtle at all!/em It took me a couple of minutes, due to me reading the map of the school that was under the schedule, but I managed to find the classroom just five minutes before class started. I sat down at the back of the room, near the window, like I usually do when it comes to sitting in a new classroom during the school year, something I like as I feel comfortable this way.
Soon the other students came in, not even glancing my way. Again, I'm used to it by now. Mr. Cauldron came in and conjure up the cauldrons in front of us. "Hello class. And welcome to potion-making class. Hope you have a good first morning." Mr. Cauldron said to the entire class. "Yes, Mr. Cauldron." The entire class, including me, said. Everyone soon got started on making a potion that was supposed to boost self-confidence or something like that. I just read the ingredients from the potion book while making the potion.
It took fifteen minutes for the potion to turn the right shade of green as it should be at this point. "There, just need to add the last ingredient and then need to stir it." I whispered to myself as I looked at the page. The last ingredient is an tongue of a tiger? Never seen that as an ingredient before, but oh well. I used magic to levitate the jar of it towards me and tipped it a bit, so that one tongue would fall out and land in the cauldron, which it did. Soon the cauldron was sparkling, like the book said it would when the potion is ready to be stirred.
I spent the next ten, maybe fifteen minutes stirring the mixture, first ten times clockwise, then five times counter-clockwise. As expected, the potion turned into a light shade of red, just as the book said. Yay me, I managed to make my first potion ever! Hooray! "Good, young Dimension. Tell me, is that your first time making a potion?" Mr. Cauldron asked, in front of me. "Uh, yes it is." I said, kind of shock because it seemed like Mr. Cauldron came out of nowhere. "Well, seems like you might have a skill for it then." He said before teleporting back to his desk, while I was surprised about the praise.
Later, as the class ended with the homework is writing a five paragraph paper on the importance of potions in situations, I went to my next class, which is flying class. No, that does not mean I would fly on broomsticks yet, that comes later in the course smarty-pants. No, during the first few months, we would be taught how to levitate. At least, that's what Alex had told me last night when he handed me my schedule while in his office.
I sat in the back of the classroom, again and the other students came in too. The teacher was waiting for us to sit down before speaking. "Welcome, class. For the first term, you will be taught how to fly via levitation. We will have you learn this until you all at least have some control over it. Then, and only then, will you be able to taught how to fly on a broomstick." The teacher, Mr. Wings, said to the class, who all nodded except for me, who was just deep in my thoughts. I wonder if levitating is the same as two of my powers I can't control. Probably not, since levitating requires magic, not ki or other powers. Oh well, time to get started with it.
However, no matter what I do, I can't levitate, unlike most of the other students who were in the air, doing the very thing that I can't. Is it because of me being half warlock? No, Aaron, stop that! It has nothing to do with your heritage, maybe it because you have so much stuff in your thoughts. My brain said to me as it mentally slapped me. Not literally, but metaphorically of course. Thanks brain, I needed that.
Plus, that type of thinking is the reason why Sabrina was looking sad, like she won't live up to expectations. She should remember to always be herself and ignore what others say. Of course, this is Sabrina we're talking about, the same person who did that dare from Gem because it was one that Sabrina couldn't get out of, mainly to show Gem up. Again, worse time of my life no contest with anything else none whatsoever unless you count the 'incident', which I have hazy memories of, which is how I got the scar on my left palm.
Soon, the class ended and I was heading towards Alex's office for my next class. As stated, I like to write and surprisingly, so does Alex. However, there were no writing class, but Alex came up with a compromise. I spent my free period, which is right now, in his office, but as a kind of creative writing class. Or as Alex puts it, 'magical writing' class. And he would read my stories at the end of the semester to give a that, I mean he would either give me praise for my work or tell me if there is something I need to work on.
I knocked on his door, the way he wrote how to at the bottom of the schedule. I'm not going to write it down here, just in case if someone wants to break into his office, but generally I've to knock on the door six times in a certain order. "Come in, Aaron." Alex said through the door. I opened the door and walked in, closing it behind me.
How are you liking Warlock Academy so far, Aaron?" Alex asked me as I sat down in the only desk that was in the room, at the back. "Ok, I guess." I replied with a shrug of my shoulders. "That's good. At least you think it's ok." Alex said, nodding his head. "Anyways, I'll be at my desk if you need anything. I'll let you use your magical creativity." Alex said as he walked back to his desk at the front of the room.
I got to writing in one of the old composition notebooks that I already have a story written in it. It was a story about a town having the best Halloween trick by pretending to all become werewolves but one person didn't know about it and he and another person who is in on the whole thing gets chased by the town. The twist is that there a monster out there at some points of the story. Yes, you can say that's weird, a bit cliche or even a bit messed up, but that's how my mind is when being creative.
I spent the whole time writing, I didn't even know that the free period was over until Alex came to my desk and tapped it with his fingers to get me out of writing daze. "Our time in here is up, Aaron. Now head on to your next class." Alex said to me, opening the door. "Ok. Thank you, by the way for getting me out of that daze." I said as I left the room. Whenever I get to focused on something, I tend to tune out everything else out unless there is a sound in front of me, which is why I put a timer on my phone and put it in front of me.
My next class was Magic 101, taught by a female teacher known as Ms. Hex who looks like a normal version of Bellatrix from the Harry Potter books/movies. Hope I don't get hex just by saying her name. I said in my head as I sat in the back as usual. Soon the other students came in too, just as the bell rang. Forgot to mention, but the bell sounds like a raven during midnight in one of Poe Edgar's poems in my parents' library. Yes, really, I read those poems despite some of them being dark and seems to be a bit mess up for younger people.
"Ms. Hex doesn't talk, instead she writes on the chalkboard the lesson for today. I think she either a.) just a person who doesn't talk much or b.) a mute. The lesson is reading from the textbooks about the proper use of magic. Man, where was this class when Sabrina and I were in middle school? That would save us a lot of problems last year. Anyways, at least I can read the chapter. And holy Christ was there a lot of rules about the proper way to use magic and how best to keep it hidden. Where had this book been all my life?! (Ok, maybe last year to avoid panic attacks, but still!)
The class fly by and it was time for lunch, which I walk towards at my own pace. I sat down at the table from earlier and begin to read the second book, which is about whether or not the 'Devil' is evil. Mainly, the person points out that the 'Devil' may just be someone that is possessed and that she isn't in control of her actions. And that you should make a deal with her so that she can be free from this possession and be redeemed. Now I'm starting to get confused. The second book is treating her like Michael Myers from the Halloween films or even Jason Vorhees from the Friday the 13th films.
Yes I watched those in my room without my parents knowing, just kept the volume down and hid my laptop under my blankets. For some reason, I never got any nightmares from those films. Maybe because they were too cheesy to me. Anyways, yeah, the second book is confusing as crud with how it is contradicting the other one.
Soon, though it was time for the last four classes. I won't write down what happened in them since it the same as regular school: science, math, english and history. The only difference is that the history we're learning is the history of magic and all that other stuff. And just when I thought I came here to get away from regular school, it follows me here of course.
After that was dinner, which by then, I was reading the last book. By 'reading', I meant opening it up and surprised that it has a map. "L-like Zordon man, like, you're here. T-The D-Devil is l-located over t-there, man. Zinkies man." The book said as it has a map with two dots that had words under them.
The first dot, in the center, has my name under it. The second dot has the 'Devil' under it and was at the left hand corner, meaning she was somewhere in the Netherworld. I had a shock face similar to Pikachu's from that one scene from a certain episode. Hope no one makes a meme out of it.
Great, now I've found the Marauder's Map in book form. Hopefully that doesn't means I'm anywhere near Hogwarts and their high death count. Sorry not sorry, but we all know that it's true. Hogwarts does have a high death count in their school, intentional and unintentional deaths. Oh and the book sounds like a stoner for some odd reason. Now where is Scoob when you need him for that webcomic? Soon I went to sleep despite the thoughts racing in my head.
And that's is how the rest of the week is, although there were some slight differences in some classes. Like I managed to levitate a bit. But yeah, I felt like I did something wrong and is now stuck in a Groundhog Day type of situation, given how everyday of this week is kind of the same. The only proof I have that the days have changed is the calendar on my wall and the watch I have that even tells what day it is. Yes really. It does that.
Soon, it was time to return the three books so that I can check out some more, which I did on Saturday. What was surprising was that Alex was at the librarian's desk. The librarian's name is Mr. Quill by the way. "Hey, where Mr. Quill?" I asked Alex. "Oh, I told him to take a break to eat something. So, returning some books?" Alex said before he looked at the three books. He then look left and right to see if anyone was near us or even paying attention. Which the answer to those questions is no there isn't anyone nearby or paying attention.
"I think you should keep these books, young Dimension." Alex whispered to me. "How come?" I asked him, confused about this. "You're the only one who can see the words in these pages. I should know because whenever someone else tries to, all they see is a blank book. When I heard from the other students about you reading these, I thought they might had been making stuff up just to tarnish your reputation for reasons. But now that I see it for myself, I think it would be beneficial to you if you keep these with you. And here something else for you too." Alex said as he took the library bindings off the three books.
He bent down behind the counter for a moment and when he came back up, he was holding another book, this time it was a big, thick book. The title is 'All Supernatural Beings: Everything You Need To Know' in big, cursive writing. "We haven't put this in here for years. I believe it might be great for you given your curiosity." Alex said as he also took the library bindings off it and handed it to me. "Um... thanks." I said in a meekly tone. I was still confused about the whole event starting with me wanting to return the books. And now I own them and this big one too?
"You're welcome. I hope it serves you well in the future." Alex said as I left the library and head towards my dorm room, still shocked about what happened. Not realizing that Alex would be right and that I would need it in the future. Not even realizing that I was walking towards said future. That I would walk towards a future that no one would even dream of. And it all started by a letter from Sabrina.
