Curtis tried to question Adaeze about her alleged involvement in terrorism.

.

Adaeze: Is Kristen going to be okay?

Curtis; Yes. You on the other hand are going to spend the rest of your life in prison, unless you start talking.

Adaeze: I am well aware of how the american justice system reall works. You'll throw me in prison whether or not I did anything wrong.

Curtis: What happenned to you at Ravenwood was a tragedy, but it's no excuse for killing innocents.

Adaeze: And your government doesn't kill innocents with drone strikes? After these bombings, you will look for a scapegoat. A scapegoat with dark skin who prays towards Mecca. Even if I knew something, I'd never tell you.

Gaines brings Dubaku and his two bodyguards to the port of Baltimore. Gaines says that his employers will need Dubaku later, and are therefore helping him escape now. It hasn't escaped Dubaku's attention that Gaines has said very little about who he works for, but whoever they are they have helped him obtain his objectives. He has helped strike a blow against America, even gotten partial revenge for his old friend Bashir, the best he could have hoped for in this operation. Gaines leads these three to a shipping container.

.

Gaines: There's some food and water, air holes. It won't be pleasant, but it will get you back to Sangala. The crew won't bother you, but I recommend trying to keep quiet.

Dubaku: I understand. Thank you Ira, for everything.

Kimberly sees her target, Behrooz Araz. He seems to be in a CTU safehouse, guarded by an agent. Kim doesn't want to murder a loyal american, nor does she want to get caught and sent back to prison. She needs to think of an alternative.

.

President Donovan has just made his third call to a cabinet member. She confirms what he already feared, that speaker Haffley is indeed trying to overthrow him. Donovan calls Haffley.

.

Haffley: Mr president, what can I do for you?

Donovan: You can start by dropping your pretext. I know all about your little palace coup.

Haffley: I wouldn't call it that. And your weakness has left me no choice.

Donovan: And were you planning to just hold your secret meeting and then inform me I was no longer president.

Haffley: I think we can be a little more civilized than that. How about a cabinet meeting, at 4pm. We each make our case, and let them vote.

Donovan: I agree on one condition. If they vote with me, you will resign as speaker of the House of Representatives.

Haffley: And why should I agree to this?

Donovan: Because you were never elected to be president or vice-president. The people deserve elected leadership. If we can't give them that, we owe it to them to go through the confirmation process for a new vice-president.

Haffley: If we had this hearing for the public, they would side with me. They want vengeance.

Donovan: You might be right about that, but leaders are required to rise above petty vengeance and do what is best for their people. If you win this vote, I won't apeal, I'll go along with whatever official story you want. But if you lose, will you resign?

Haffley: Yes.

.

Mason is once again on the phone with Chapelle.

.

Chapelle: You have the girl in custody?

Mason: Yes. She says she's innocent, and wouldn't tell us if she knew anything.

Chapelle: Gary Miller identified her as having been at the game?

Mason: He says he's not sure.

Chapelle: You need to make her talk.

Mason: We don't even know if she's involved.

Chapelle: She was trying to flee the country.

Mason: Given her experience with Ravenwood, she might have just been worried about becoming a scapegoat.

Chapelle: Do whatever it takes for her to talk.

.

Dubaku and his bodyguards sit in the shipping container, waiting to be taken back to Sangala. One of the guards notices something, a bomb. It has only 15 seconds left, no time to flee. He acts quickly, uses himself as a shield to protect his leader. The bomb goes off.

.

Split screens show the aftermath of the explosion, Kim waiting for her opportunity to strike, president Donovan calls other cabinet members to lobby for their support, Adaeze being taken to CTU, Gary cooperating with CTU while his lawyer observes.

.

Dubaku opens his eyes. His bodyguards saved his life, sacrificing their own. But he is wounded, he knows it's unlikely that he'll survive. He also realizes that Gaines set them up to die, for that they will pay.
