My chest hurt. I gasped, desperately trying to draw in air. It was like something was blocking my throat, clogging my lungs. I coughed, and took a sip of water from the cup on my desk. I shook my head, trying to clear it. I figured it was just a weird side effect to time traveling. I jumped out of my chair, stumbled into Jayfeather's room, and smacked into him. "Where's the fire?" He chuckled. I could barely contain my excitement. "Wanna go buy dinner, and eat by the river?" I asked. "Sure." He said. "With who?" Ticking off my fingers, I named our friends. "Ivypool, Half Moon, Berrynose," Jayfeather winced at that one. "Lionblaze, Cinderheart, Hollyleaf ,Fallen leaves, Poppyfrost, Ashfur,Honeyfur, Dovewing, and Bumblestripe." Jayfeather widened his eyes. "That's gonna be expensive." I shrugged. "I'll pay." Jayfeather brightened. "In that case, i call everybody." I ducked into my room and shoved the time machine back under my bed. I wouldn't need it anymore. Darting into Jayfeather's room again, I called Ivypool. "Hello? Foxleap? What do you need?" Biting my lip, to keep myself from jumping up and down, I invited her. " Want to come to the river, to eat and fish and swim?" There was a pause, and I heard her talking to Dovewing. "Sure, why not?" I smiled. " Great. See you there." I hung up and glanced at Jayfeather. He was chatting away with Half Moon. I snapped my fingers in front of his face. "Hey! This is inviting time, not chatting time!" Jayfeather waved his hand at me. "Yeah, Love you. No, I love you more. Ok. Uh-huh. Yep. Love you." Jayfeather pulled the phone away from his ear and hung up. He turned to me, fiddling with something, as usual. " Ok, everybody will meet us there in half an hour. You ready?" I nodded, and grabbed my keys. I tossed them in the air. "Ready."

I sat on the beach of the river, staring at the cool blue water. I could distantly hear my friends laughing and splashing each other. I dipped my finger into the water, chills climbing up my back. All of a sudden, a burst of cold water hit me. Startled, I looked up, to see Ivypool standing there, a smirk playing on her face. I smiled, and stood up. "Hah." I said. "You couldn't beat me with my eyes closed." She laughed, her laugh like bells trickling on water. I told her that once, and it inspired her name on the Thunderclan Chat; TricklingIvy. Her eyebrows raised. "You want to test that theory?" she taunted. I shrugged. "Sure. Why not?" I pulled back my arms, and pushed the water as hard as I could, drenching everything beneath her waist. Her mouth dropped open and a strangled sound escaped. Then her mouth set in a grim line, and she kicked some water at me. I laughed. " What was that? Weak." She squinted at me, and tried kicking more water at me. I laughed again, and pushed my glasses up my nose. Ivypool took a deep breath, and came charging toward me. Not expecting that, I stood, mesmerized. Ivypool hit me right in the stomach, and for a split second, I kinda thought she was a bull. A split second I was in the water, and she was holding me down, her face inches from mine. Water gushed over my face, and I spluttered. Ivypool laughed. I reached up and touched her cheek, and she grabbed it, and pinned my hands down, and kissed me. I wanted more, when she sat up straight, and looked around. I hoisted myself up on my elbows. " What's the matter?" "Do you hear anything?" She asked slowly. I listened. "No. " I furrowed my brow. "In fact, i don't hear anything." I glanced down the beach, and stood up, helping Ivypool get up too. I did a full 360, when suddenly I heard Hollyleaf's sobs. I took off running toward them, Ivypool following close behind. I came to a sudden halt as I saw them, Ivypool crashing into me. I saw Fallen leaves, his lips blue, and his face pale, and I saw Hollyleaf holding him and crying , and I saw all our friends crowding around her, trying to ease her pain. Hollyleaf looked up and saw me. Still holding fallen leaves, she gestured to him. Her voice cracked. "He's dead." she whispered.

I sat at my desk, holding a picture of all us boys in our friend group, tooken just before freshman year. A memory came to me.

The day i met Fallen leaves was like no other, i'll tell you that. Fallen leaves was strong, handsome, and friendly. Hollyleaf introduced him to us. Me and Jayfeather were on the swings, and Jayfeather was mooning over Half Moon again. "Dude, just go talk to her." I said, exasperated. Jayfeather looked panicked. "But what if she thinks I'a weird or funny looking?" I sighed. "She won't if you go talk to her." Jayfeather shook his head. " No way. Not doing it." I sighed again. "Hi guys!" Hollyleaf's prissy voice came out of the blue. I looked up. She and another boy were standing there. She gestured to him. "This is Fallen leaves. He's new." Jayfeather snorted. "We noticed." Hollyleaf rolled her eyes. "Anyway, he used to know Half Moon." Jayfeather's head shot up and his eyes narrowed. "You know Half Moon?" Fallen leaves nodded. I shot Hollyleaf a look. She didn't return it. Fallen leaves continued. " Yeah, she's cool. Why? Do you like her? I could help you get her attention, if you want." I almost laughed. Jayfeather didn't need anybody's help. Especially some new guy's. But then, to my ultimate surprise, Jayfeather agreed. "Sure, why not."

That memory ended, and another flooded in.

The summer of 8th grade was epic, and all of us boys had just spent two months at Camp boys Rule. On the last day, we decided to take a group picture. Standing together shoulder to shoulder would have been a good picture, until Berrynose sneezed so hard he fell into Lionblaze, causing a domino effect. Guess what. That's when the guy we asked to take the picture, took the picture.

I laughed at that memory. I waited as it ended, waiting for another one. No other one's came. I sobbed, the sob racking my body. I bit my lip and got on my hands and knees, and pulled the time machine out. I turned the time and date knob. "Last time." I said softly. Then I pushed the button.
