CTU is preparing to release Gary Miller. Mason goes to walk him and Willow out.

.

Mason: For what it's worth, I'm sorry about what happenned. If any of my employees leaked this to the press they will be fired.

Willow: Even so, we might be filing a lawsuit.

Mason: Please don't leave the city, just in case we have any questions later.

.

There was a reason Mason wanted to walk Gary out. Doyle was bringing Adaeze in for questioning. Mason wanted her to see him. If she was at Camden Yards she might recognize Gary, might be convinced he had identified her. Mason wanted every psychlogical advantage he could get right now. He brought Adaeze to the interrogation room.

.

Mason: That was Gary Miller, the security guard who saved lives at Camden Yards. Want to guess what he told us about you?

Adaeze: Whatever you asked him to say?

Mason; We know you helped Dubaku plant bombs. Still, your anger at our judicial system is at least somewhat understandable. If you help us, I can guarantee some leniency.

Adaeze: I didn't plant any bomb. I just wanted to get out of the country.

Mason: As I said, I can guarantee leniency if you cooperate. If not, you will go to prison for the rest of our life. And you won't be the only one.

Adaeze: What do you mean?

Mason: Your friend Kristen, she could go to prison for harboring a terrorist. And her daughter Lily, she escaped from a juvenile detention facility.

Adaeze: She's twelve, autistic. She won't survive.

Mason: Then cooperate, and we can get the charges against Kristen dropped, and we won't extradite Lily to West Virginia.

Adaeze: Okay, I'll talk.

Mason: Who recruited you?

Adaeze: He never gave me his name, just said we had common enemies. The apartheid government of Sangala, America. He gave me the bomb, told me to blow myself up at Camden Yards. But I was scared, so I just planted the bomb under some seats and left.

Mason: Could you identify this "friend" if we showed you some pictures?

Adaeze: I think so.

.

As Mason got photographs, including of Dubaku, Ira Gaines was eating in a diner. The tv showed news of the bombings, including the recent one at the port of Baltimore. The reporter, Maureen Kingsley, reveals a new twist. One which definitely gets Gaines' attention.

.

Maureen: Among those wounded at the port of Baltimore is Dubaku, the head of Alqueda in Sangala and one of the alleged masterminds behind the attacks of earlier today. However the doctors were able to save Dubaku and it appears he'll make a full recovery. He is currently at an undisclosed hospital under CTU protection.

.

Upon hearing that Dubaku is still alive Gaines just leaves a 50 dollar bill on the table and walks out. The last thing he needs right now is for the waitress to call the police because he ran out on his bill. Before Gaines can get back to work he gets a call from his employer, Jonas Hodges.

.

Jonas: Have you seen the news?

Gaines: Yeah I know, he's alive. I put him and the other two in the shipping container and got the hell out. I thought he was dead.

Jonas: Clearly you were wrong. He could lead CTU back to us.

Gaines: I just need to figure out which local hospital has increased police and CTU guards. After that, I'll do what I have to do.

Jonas: You'd better.

.

At CTU Adaeze identifies one of Dubaku's bodyguards as the man who recruited her. At this point Burke speaks to Mason.

.

Burke: She identified a dead man as her sole accomplice.

Mason: Maybe the guy had to do double duty, they were shorthanded.

Burke: She saw his picture with the massive wounds and made an educated guess that he was already dead.

Mason: Maybe. She also claimed that she planted the bomb under some seats.

Burke: The bomb was planted by the restroom.

Mason: Which is not public knowledge.

Burke: In other words she hasn't given us any real proof of her guilt.

Mason: It is possible that she is innocent.

Burke: Or she's well trained in how to avoid questioning.

Mason: Either way, she's given us all she's going to give.

Burke: Not neccessarily.

Mason: Torture her and she'll say whatever you want her to say to stop the pain.

Burke: Chapelle gave specific orders to do whatever was neccessary.

Mason: And I'm saying we know as much as she does. If Dubaku planned for her to be dead, why would he tell her anything she didn't need to know?

Burke: She was planning to flee.

Mason: So why not use Gaines like Dubaku did? Either she's given all she knows, or she's innocent. Either way torture is useless.
