My head spun, and I felt myself materialize in my chair. I breathed in deep. I got up and walked into Jayfeather's room. "Wanna go to the movies with everybody? Jayfeather stood up and stretched. I stepped outside. The night breeze ruffled my hair. My friends spilled out behind me. Dovewing sighed. " Now i'm hungry. " Murmurs of "Me too." followed. I faced them. "Dinner on me?" lionblaze coughed. "Why so generous?" I shrugged. " I don't know. Olive garden?
The fancy italian restaurant was next door, and everybody liked it. Lionblaze nodded eagerly. Later, as I watched my friends eat, a wave of sadness crashed over me. This was the last time I would watch them, eating and drinking. The last mtime Jayfeather would make a snarky remark about my bright red hair. The last time Ivypool would look at him with all the love in the world. I put down the money for the food, pressed my lips against Ivypool's for the last time, adn excused myself from the tabel Jayfeather followed me out. I stared at the crescent moon, which hung low in the sky. " I never really appreciated the beauty of nature before. I'm glad I came to my senses before it was too late,``Jayfeather frowned. "Too late? For what?" I didn't answer. I turned to him. "Promise me something." jayfeather raised his brow. "PROMISE ME!" I yelled, Jayfeather jumped. "Ok!" My voice was low. "Promise me you'll take care of yourself, and Half moon, and especially Ivypool." Jayfeather furrowed his brow. "I promise." "GOod." I said. "You're a good friend, you know that?" I walked out to the side of the road. "I'm sorry." I said. "It has to be this way." Jayfeather came to recognition a second too late. A truck sped down the road, and I stepped in front of the truck.

I saw nothing. I felt nothing, either. Then all at once I hit the ground. Hard. it didn't hurt though, a tall man with ginger hair stuck in front of me. Starlight floated around him."hello foxleap." he said, his voice deep and kind. I stood up. "I'm dead." I stated. He nodded. " Would you like to see them?" I walked up behind him. He pointed down and I followed his finger. I saw them. Standing over me, comforting each other, tears and puffy faces on all of them."You're really lucky to have them." the man said. I looked at him. "I;m sorry, who are you?" the man extended his hand. "Firestar." I shook it. The name rang a bell, but I didn't push it further. "You destroyed the time machine, right?" he asked. I nodded. The image of the time machine melting in the fire I had lit in the woods behind our school. "Are you ready?" He asked. "For what? I asked. Firestar smiled. "To meet the rest of us." he beckoned and I followed. I didn't look back.
