This takes place at the same day the last five chapters took place, so the news of Marcy's transformation hasn't spread.
John had just arrived, beginning to unpack. He started by setting Becky down, and taking off his shoes. While he did this, he decided to elect to converse with the Oshawott.
"So how was your day?" He asked.
Becky responded with a simple "good", noting that she met someone new.
"That Skuntank right?" John asked. Becky nodded.
"Is that why you got called down?" John asked.
"Yup." Becky replied. "To have a Pokemon to Pokemon talk."
"Makes sense." John replied.
"Though on that subject..." John replied to himself. "Can she speak?"
"Yeah." Becky replied. "She is rather shy though."
"Why?" John asked.
"She's a Skuntank. Paranoid about smelling up the place." Becky replied.
"Eh." John replied. "Fine."
"I said that it's probably not the worst smell in a high school." Becky replied. John giggled a bit.
"She found that funny too." Becky said. "I think we could be friends."
"And she's your size too, right?" John asked.
"About twice my size, but an improvement, yeah." Becky replied.
"Fine enough." John replied. Becky was mildly upset about how small she was, but she felt that on and off for years now.
John decided to look up things about transformation on his laptop, to see if this was something that had happened before. Becky came to watch.
"Whatcha up to now?" Becky asked, trying to perk up.
"Just seeing if anything like this has happened before." John asked. He found various mildly suspicious websites on this, but took them as semi-factual, due to the fact that nothing better was available, and the fact that the facts would be unbelievable anyways. One mentioned a medicine-related outbreak, one mentioned a pathogen, and one mentioned a simple slimegirl-type creature issue. One even turned its subjects into living inanimate objects, such as pool toys and plushies.
"Imagine being a stuffed animal Oshawott..." John said to Becky. Becky shuddered at the thought of being even more cute and vulnerable. At least now she had some independence. She knew John meant well, but having to be babied her age wasn't the best thing in her eyes.
"You'd be cute as a button." John said, pun intended. Becky didn't like that idea either. I mean she liked being cute kind of, but this was cute enough for her tastes. Too much attention and all that. John felt worried for a moment.
"You'd take care of me right?" John asked. "If I was the small one?"
"Don't worry John." Becky said with a smile. "I'll be here for you. Can't get too much smaller than me!"
"Well if you evolve, and I get turned into a little one..." John said, looking Becky in the eyes.
"It's fine." Becky said, looking back. "I'll be there for you."
John smiled, but seemed panicked still. "I guess we just have to live while we can, right?"
"I wouldn't equate this to dying, but yes." Becky said, giving John a hug as big as she really could. John hugged back, sniffling a bit.
"I love you John. We're like siblings after all..." Becky replied to that.
'Love you too." Josh said, keeping the hug going.
"Well..." Becky said. "You'll have the best teacher at being small!"
"That I will sis." Josh replied, laughing a tiny bit. "That I will..."
A couple of hours later...
Having just finished with dinner, John took Becky upstairs to their room. Their bed was a sort of bunk, Becky being on top in a somewhat smaller bed, almost as if the bed was made from one of those computer desks where you can close a lid to cover the computer. Becky had a little ladder for getting up, and a slide for getting down. The slide landed in a plushy area for her to land on, and her stuff was waterproofed in case of water-type water accidents. John had gotten that done for her on her 13th birthday. Well really, his mom did it, but they pretended it was from John. John eventually told Becky about this, but she had reasonably expected it, but didn't know outright. She layed out on her bed, getting on her phone, she had a smartphone instead of a computer like John's, for size reasons. She had different interests, watching videos of Pokemon more than John. John prefered Let's Players, and the occasional product review. They watched some videos, chatting about some things.
"I'm not sure how I felt about dinner." John replied.
"It's just eggs and toast." Becky said. "What's wrong with that."
"I think the toast was done more than I'm used to, but I don't know if I like it like that." John replied.
"I don't know you that well." Becky replied, stifling a laugh. "Sleep on it I guess. Not now though."
John nodded. "Yeah, it's only like 6."
Becky looked down to see what John was watching. He was watching a man review weird kitchen gadgets. One was a egg cooker, in which you'd place an egg and it'd float when it was ready, and you had a thing which you could screw and unscrew a small nozzle in order to have it float at a different time. It was very interesting, at least to John. Becky fond it weird, but that was the point of the video.
"You like pie?" John asked Becky.
"Well I like little ones..." Becky noted. "Why?"
"Just trying to see if you wanted to talk about anything."
"Not really..." Becky said. "Kinda just found those gadgets weird and I wanted to look."
"Well they can be pretty quirky." John said. "That's why I like watching these videos. You'd never know stuff like this existed otherwise."
"Well I wouldn't say never..." Becky said. "But yeah."
John nodded, understanding. "Having a tail must be nice."
"It is sometimes." Becky said. "But it gets in the way sometimes too."
"I wonder how Helen's holding up." John replied.
"Yeah... She did get transformed. Maybe we should go say hi sometime?" Becky responded.
"Sure!" John responded. "That's a great idea."
Becky smiled, going back to her cute Pokemon videos. If she wasn't so shy, she might want to do a showcase-type performance sometime. However, this was her secret, as to most she doesn't like that cute. Though maybe she'd evolve before then, being an elegant Dewott. Becky began to kick her little paws at that thought. John didn't notice as he began watching a weird products review video, the last one being specifically egg-themed. The product on his video being a bottle stream splitter on his video, for pouring two glasses at once. It was nifty in the fact that it came with a handle, so large bottles weren't so unwieldy. That was why John wanted it, not because of the splitter. Then there was a berry masher, which could mash a few berries together, though you had to remove the stems and cut them up a bit in some cases. Of course, some berries mash better than others, so the hardest of berries need cooked in order to be mashed in the masher. The person in the video said that it could be used for smoothies or juices, but John thought that juicing required the fruit to be whole. He shrugged mentally, pausing the video.
"Hey Becky?" John asked.
"What now?" Becky asked. "Still worried."
"Kind of..." John replied. "But that's not why."
"What's the issue then?" Becky asked.
"What are we gonna do with our lives?" John asked. "Just a boy and a Pokemon..."
"We could adventure, like kids in Kanto or something." Becky replied.
"Wouldn't they count you as a starter?" John asked.
"Likely." Becky replied. "You don't have to use me besides to catch other Pokemon, ya know?"
John hadn't realized that. "That's a pretty good idea, cool."
"Yup!" Becky replied. "And, I can help interpret the other Pokemon, we could solve their problems!"
"Well if I don't get transformed." John replied.
"Well maybe you could get turned back someday if you do." Becky replied. "Or maybe the roles will reverse someday. I could be the trainer, and you could be the Pokemon!"
"Heh." John said, kinda worried about that still. "Maybe."
Becky nodded. "Yup."
John got all cozy in bed, continuing to watch his videos. He stretched out, continuing to imagine himself as a fellow small Pokemon, except this time, in a much more comfy sort of way. Being all curled up into a ball, maybe with a fellow Pokemon, feeling all warm and fuzzy. OF course, Becky would grow to be big when she eventually finished evolving, but maybe an everstone could be gotten. John even thought of matching outfits they could wear for showcasing, for either human/Pokemon combination. John looked at the ceiling, going to bed early being debated. It was hard to get his mind off of what had happened.
"Maybe when it's over I'll feel better..." John thought to himself. "Hopefully."
Becky looked down, John not noticing.
"I hope he's okay..." Becky thought to herself. "He's not taking this well..."
Becky then decided to offer some advice.
"We'll figure out who did this John." Becky said. "Human or not human. I'll be sure of it."
"Oh well..." John replied. "Thanks..."
Becky decided to have John go to bed early, sleep off his worries if possible. Having gotten John ready, well, having him do things just telling him to, John layed down. Becky, now under a blanket to hide the glare, continued to watch her videos as John dozed off.
