Haffley departs Camp David in rejection. For all his right wing views Haffley was a man of his word, he would keep his promise and resign from Congress. Ofcourse this would put one of his rivals, senator Allen, a heartbeat away from the White House, but what could he do.

.

Mackensie watches the news from her office. The reporters still don't know what his meeting with president Donovan was about, but Mac has an idea. And this will benefit her even more than the other members of her conspiracy.

.

Hodges is brought to CTU and continues answering questions. Director Mason discusses the situation with Mike Doyle.

.

Mason: Hodges still claims that he hired Gaines for legitimate security work, and the blackmail about the underage hooker.

Doyle: Even that is beyond american jurisdiction, he hasn't confessed to anything that he could be prosecuted here for. Could Gaines be lying?

Mason: I doubt it, his immunity is based on his full cooperation.

Doyle: Unless his real employers are paying him enough for him to take his chances by lying.

Mason: Maybe. Milo found the money trail between Hodges, and one with Ted Cofell. We know Cofell was the conspirator's launderer, but we're still looking into his company. We don't know which are legitimate business and what isn't.

Doyle: And we can't use enhanced interrogation, there might be another way.

Mason: I'm listening.

Doyle: When I was stationed in Kandahaar, we used sodium penathol on suspected insurgents.

Mason: Truth serum?

Doyle: It weakens a person's resistance, makes them less able to lie. But there was an incident. One of these insurgents was allergic, he died. Me and three other guys are were discharged as a result. There's no way to know if Hodges is allergic unless we try it.

Mason: And if things go wrong, we could all lose our careers.

Doyle: It's your call, I trust your judgement.

Mason: Let's do it.

Doyle: Okay. I have a few contacts in the LAPD who might be able to...

Mason: We have some sodium penathol here. This does not negate our responsibility if things go south.

Doyle: Understood.

.

Adaeze and Willow wait at the hospital for news about Kristen's condition. Nina Myers observes from a distance. She looks like anyone else waiting for news about a sick or injured loved one.

.

Willow: I'm not sure we can get the doctors to talk with you since you're not a blood relative.

Adaeze: The only other family Kristen has is Lily. She's autistic, couldn't even handle this kind of news. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but why are you helping me?

Willow: Your constitutional rights were violated. I believe in the ideals of this country, that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, that torture is never justified. Not everyone in this country is a fascist.

.

Doyle enters Jonas Hodges interrogation room, with the syringe.

.

Hodges: What's that for?

Doyle: It's sodium penathol.

Hodges: I think I'm allergic.

Doyle: Then I suggest you start talking.

Hodges: I told you everything I know.

Doyle: No you haven't. Now, let's begin.
