Flashback to 16 December 1979

"Hey. I'm back"
Silence. "James,Honey, Are you there?"
Silence.
"James Potter, where are you?"
There was a silence that was lurking in the dark shadows of the apartment. It made Lily worry. "JAMES FLEAMONT POTTER, WHERE THE BLOODY HELL ARE YOU?"
Lily looked around the flat and didn't find him. She went into their bedroom and found a note:

Hi my loue I have to go on o mission for the Order. Dumby osked me to go and I couldn't soy no. Anywoy,don't woit up LOUE Jomes

Oh no. Lily looked at the note and saw that instead of love James had written loue. To be exact the every v he had written was round. Also he every a had become an o. That could indicate only one thing, he was as drunk as hell. Lily went to the kitchen and opened the liquor cabinet to find five empty firewhiskey and two empty butterbeer bottles. She was scared. The war was at its peak and going outside SOBER was very dangerous. Who's to say how dangerous it was to go outside drunk. Now there was a very intoxicated James roaming the streets of London with no one to have his back in case he crossed paths with a death eater. Or death eaters. Oh god. Lily was terrified. Then she realized that James could be anywhere in England. She immediately apperated in Sirius and Remus' flat to find Sirius on top of Marlene and snogging her as she had laid back on the couch. "Bit of privacy would be nice, Red. Also next time, knock."Sirius groaned,looking at Lily. Lily looked at Marlene who was so red Lily could feel the haet radiating from her body but she ignored it.
"Right now I'm too busy being sacred to even ask about this." She pointed at the two of them."Whatever disgusting thing it is."
"Red, didn't your mather teach you that pointing at peaple is rude?"
"I...Shut up and read this padfoot"
She handed him the note and called Remus and he came out his room looking very grumpy.
"Lily flower, when you were on a mission with me for the last 23 hours and you know I didn't sleep,why would you wake me?"
Lily looked at Sirius who loooked terrified and snatched the note from his hand and gave it to Remus. Marlene looked very confused when she saw that all three of them were pale so she read the note and said "What's the problem?"
"The problem is that is written by drunk James who is roaming Britain right now and might be killed by death eaters any moment." Lily said as her voice cracked but she didn't cry. She never cried easy. "How much did he drink?"Sirius asked, his voice terrified.
"Five bottles of firewhiskey and two of butterbeer."
"Now that's just pathetic. Why would he drink that much?"
"Because he is upset about his parents' death."
"Lily it been a would he drink now? He didn't drink at all and suddenly after a month he remembered that his parents are dead so he decided to drink all his problems away?"
"I don't know. All I know is that there is no other reason as to why he would drink this much. Now Remus, put on some pants and a shirt. Sirius bottun up your shirt. Marlene fix your hair. We are going to look for him right now."
Five minutes later they were at the door all of them ready. "All right. I will go tell peter to go at our flat and wait for him and alert us if he comes back. Then I will go to potter manor and the parts around it. Marlene, first go to St. Mungo's and he wasn't there,start telling memebers of the Order in person and tell them that if they saw him send a us patronous and take him to the headquarters. If he is drunk and the death eaters capture him not only I will die of sadness ( because they will kill him once they're done wth him) Moody will have our heads for letting him go out like that. Go." Marlene nodded and disapperated. "Now you two, Sirius you go to hogsmade. Remus you go to our usual hang out spots in the city. if you find him, send a patronous. if you checked the place you were supposed to and he wasn't there go the headquarters and wait. tell members of the Order if you see them when you're looking for him."
They both nodded and wanted to disapperate when she hugged them "Good luck lads."
And with that all three of them were gone.

About two hours later, Lily saw a little bunny hopping twards her. It stpopped in front of her and a very familiar voice said:
"Lily I have found him. He is at the headquarters with me and Edgar and Alastor. Come here right now."
Emmeline's voice had an urgency to it. So Lily apperated in the headquarters as soon as she could find somewhere that no one could see her.
"Oh my god, James are you ok?"Lily said lookeing at her husband's cold and distant eyes. "Yes, the bloody prat is fine, just still a bit drunk is all. I just gave him a potion. He should be sober in a few seconds." Said Emmeline with a firm tone. "Moody is really mad, Lily and I every think Order memeber except Dumbledore went looking for him and a lot of them are pissed. I think Moody wants to make an example out of him. By punishing him."said Edgar in a serious tone.
Lily saw their friends rushing in just as James' eyes went back to normal and seemed sober.
Alice and Frank looked terrified and kept asking if Lily was fine and kept trying to make sure she wasn't stressed anymore. Probably because they knew her little secret. Dorcas and Marlene kept hitting and pushing James in his arms,telling him he shouldn't do things like this when he has a wife and is memeber of a secret organization that's fighting one of the most evil wizards of all time. Fabian and Gideon were laughing at Jmaes who would nearly fall off his chair with every hit and push the girls threw at him. It was clear that he was still very unfocused and confused. Remus and Sirius looked really mad and kept shouting at him for being so bloody irresponsible while the girls hit and pushed him. Peter was begging all of them to stop probably because he saw moody's red face. Lily saw James looking at her and just stared at him blankly,showing him how angry she was. She had zero emotions written on her face. So when she walked over to him push Sirius and Remus and Dorcas aside no one excepted her to slap him. He looked startled but just looked at her. When she saw no reaction,she got infuriated. How dare he do something like that and then just look at her like nothing happened? So she slapped his other check. After about four slaps, when she held her hand up to slap him again he softly grabbed her wrist as it was on its track to his check. He didn't move his hand and she didn't move hers. They stared at each other blankly. No one dared to move or say anything. To be honest, they were all scared if Lily. Lily's faced turned red and She snatched her wrist out of his palm and started shouting like it was one of those screaming matches she had with him at Hogwarts:
"WHAT THE BLOODY WERE YOU THINKING JAMES? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU PUT US THROUGH, PUT ME ME THROUGH? DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW DANGEROUS IT WAS TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT, GETTING DRUNK ON THE PEAK OF THE WAR WHEN DEATH EASTERS ARE AT EVERY CORNER?
THEY COULD HAVE CAPTURED YOU. IF THEY HAD DONE THAT, THEY WOULD HAVE FORCED INFORMATION OUT OF YOU AND THEN THEY WOULD HAVE NOT HESITATE TO KILL YOU. AND THE MOST IDIOTIC THING YOU DID TONIGHT WAS DRUNK WRITING A VERY STUPID NOTE, LYING ABOUT WHERE YOU WERE. I GOT EVERY MEMBER IN THE ORDER LOOKING FOR YOU AND YOU JUST SIT THERE AND WATCH ME?"
"Well Lily, you have been shouting nonestop without... "James said calmly until he was cut off. "JAMES! ARE REALLY AWNSERING ME RIGHT NOW?
I AM SO MAD I COULD KILL YOU AND YOU JUST AWNSER ME THIS CALMLY? YOU CERTAINLY HAVE GOT A VERY BIG NERVE. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU SHOULD AWNSER A WOMAN WHEN SHE IS THIS ANGRY? OH GOD,I AM SO FURIOUS RIGHT NOW THAT ALL I WANT TO DO IS TO CHOP OFF YOUR HEAD WITH THE SWORD OF GODRICK GRYFFINFOR."
"Lily sweetheart I get the fact that you're mad, but aren't you a bit over reacting?" James said calmly again.
"He's right red you're a bit too mad for this." Sirius said as Remus Marlene and Dorcas hummed in agreement. The Prewett twins just shook their heads and peter squeaked yes and nodded. "Alice, Frank, do you think she should be shouting so loud that both Edgar and Emmeline would get pale?" He asked as he saw they made no remark.
"Seeing as we are married, we know not to intervene in the fights of a married couple," Frank said "And Lily has every right here, James. If Frank had done something like that I would have been just as angry." Alice continued. "But you're pregnant. It's a little bit different when it's not just the two of you. But when it's just..."
"I AM PREGNANT YOU BLOODY PRAT." Lily shouted. everyone looked at Lily with shock. After a few moments,seeing as no one would get out to give them some privacy, Alice and Frank started pushing everyone towards the door. "What?"
"I'M PREGNAT YOU GIT. I thought I would suprise but then you...you...you just disappeared...and i was so...worried ." she tried to breath but gasped for air. It was obvious that she couldn't breath anymore. "Lily, honey, breath with me, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale." He said as he breathed with her trying not to freak out himself. When she could breath again she started sobbing:
"I thought I had... lost you. That I ha... had to raise a ch... child all by myse... myself."
"Oh Lily,"said James affectionately. "Love,you should have told me. If I had known..."he continued as he hugged his crying wife and guided her to sit on his lap,
"I would have chopped off my own head with the sowrd of gryffindor."
She smiled at his joke.
"I am sorry for worrying you. And tell you what, even if you weren't pregnant,you had every right to snap at me like that. I shouldn't have done that. I am sorry. I was just tired of feeling and wanted the sadness and everything to stop for a minute so I wasn't thinking. I'm sorry. I truely am. I will never get wasted again." Then he started to freak out a bit.
"But you're sure? I mean not that it's not great,but it's a BABY! What the hell am I supposed to do? I don't know how to be a dad. Hell ,I don't even know how to be a husband. And I've been doing that for a year now. what if I'm bad father? oh god. What will..." He continued shaking. "James, honey, stop being a drama queen and calm down."she said holding his hand,trying to stop him from the nervous shaking. "You're ganna be an amazing dad. I don't how to be a mum either, but I think knowing how to be a parent will come naturally to a person. No one knows how to do it when their fisrt child is born,they learn and trust their instincts as they go on. And about what you did tonight,It's important thing is that you're safe and I think I scolded you enough for you to never do that again."
"But how did this happen?"
"Well, when Wizard and a witch Love each other very much,they..."Lily said while smirking at James. "Lily, love, I know that part. I was there and I did that part. And I think I did a very good job. Don't give me that look Lily, I am so good it should be illegal. You know that." He said giving her a seductive look as she rolled he eyes. "Don't roll your eyes at me. But we were careful, I mean , we used a potion and everything. Did you stop drinking the potion without telling me?"
"First of all we are "both" so good it should be illegal,"
"Sorry Love, I keep forgeting you're just as perfect as I am." He said as he kissed her cheek. Lily rolled her eyes again and continued:
"And secondly, no James, I didn't stop drinking the potion. But remember that raid about seven weeks ago? The one where saw Voldemort for the fisrt time?"
"Yeah but we didn't...ohhhhh yeah I remember now." He said and started to grin at the memory.
"That was a rather magical night wasn't it?" He asked. "Yes it was. Now, do you remeber the fact that you were acting very impatiently?"
"Yeah,oh...don't continue. I know how it happened."
At this point Edgar came in. "Moody wanted to shout at you but I convinced him that your wife did that long enough for it to have the effect he wants, however there will be a punishment for irresponsibility. We both agreed that doubling the amount of your shifts until the baby comes is good. Because when your baby comes we are going to be down four of our great assets. Oh and Lily,"
Edgar smiled for the first time that night. "Congratulations."
After this Edgar left and all of their frinds came in. They were all congratulating and hugging them until Dorcas started talking:
"Even though I was a year older than you guys and weren't really friends with you at school, I love you both and I am proud to say I am your friend. Seeing as all of us have gotten real close in the last two years I say we make a pact. All of us should promise to take of Alice and Frank's and Lily and James' baby should anything happen to them. I know there will a godparent for the kids and that's great but we're in a war anything can happen. And I think these two are not normal kids, they are special. They are Potter and Longbottom. Of course they are special. And they are special enough to have a very big village take care of them."
They all agreed and dcided to make it official so they brought a parchment and wrote rhat promise to take care of Longbottom's and Potter's child and they started signing their names:
Lily Potter James Potter Alice Longbottom Frank Longbottom Sirius Black Marlene Mckinnon Remus Lupin Dorcas Meadows Peter Pettigrew Fabian Prewett Gideon Prewett "You know,Molly would always help out with the kids. if something happened to one of you and the other one needed help as a single parent."Fabian said. "Thank you"smiled Lily "We really appreciate it"continued James Alice and Frank nodded in agreement with smiles

Present

Lily and Sirius and Remus looked at each other remembering what had happened that day. James, Dorcas, Marlene, Fabian and Gideon were dead. Peter was a traitor. Alice and Frank were insane. Only the three of them were left. Lily smiled and said: "I'm going to talk to Augusta Longbottom tomorrow and ask her if she is alright with Harry and Neville playing togather sometime. Also I am going to ask Molly to help me with Harry when I give birth. Since you'll both be working and I'm still grieving and I don't think it's going to be over anytime soon so it's better if I'm not alone."
They both nodded and wrapped their arms around her hoping the future held better things and less funerals, hoping that tomorrow would go smoothly as they let their tears roll down their faces. Lily said:
"Do you remeber the part where he asked how it happened?"
They all exploded with laughter as they wiped away their tears remembering James' remarks about his prefomence. "And just for the record,"she continued "he was better than me. What he said was true. He was so good it should have been illegal."
They all laughed again as she said "This is happy moment we should be laughing not crying."As they all smiled. It was the first time Lily smiled after James' death. It was a good day.
