The operation had been successful, but at a very high cost. Many good agents, including Mile Doyle and Curtis Manning, were dead. Chapelle was ofcourse trying to pin all of the blame on George Mason.

.

Chapelle; You agreed to this operation, and now many of our best and brightest are dead.

Mason: Not for nothing, but the president authorized it.

Chapelle: Don't worry, there's plenty of blame to go around. The president has other things to worry about, but you don't.

Mason: You're firing me?

Chapelle: Yes, you and Milo Pressman.

Mason: Why Milo?

Chapelle: He failed to realize there were explosions in that warehouse.

Mason: Those terrorists didn't know either.

Chapelle: I'm taking over, and I can't have people working here I don't trust.

.

At the warehouse firefighters are already putting out the blaze. Jack Bauer and Audrey Raines are recieving medical attention. They want to savor their remaining time together, however little it might be. Tony approaches them.

.

Tony: Jack, I know you came here mostly for Audrey.

Jack: I came for both of you.

Tony: Anyway, I still can't forgive you. But I can thank you for what you did tonight.

.

Split screens show these three together, Kim Bauer at the hospital, Mason and Milo being forced out of CTU, Sabzi and Stasevich wait for news about the operation, Hunter deciding what to do next.

.

Hunter makes his decision, he calls Mandy.

.

Mandy: Have you made your decision?

Hunter: Yes. I won't betray my president, but I can arrange for your people to take Hekmetyar

Mandy: That isn't what my superiors want.

Hunter: It's this or nothing.

Mandy: Maybe I can convince them of this. We have a deal.
