Jack Bauer and Gary Miller sneak throught the hospital security. For now they're unnoticed. Jack fins Kim's room, it's unguarded. Perhaps the security guards are just spread too thin. Kim is still in a coma, hooked up to many tubes, fighting for her life. If she weren't unconsciouss, she'd be in a lot of pain from these injuries. Jack just kneels beside his daughter.

Jack: Hey Kim. I don't know how much time I have. I just want you to know that I love you, and I'm sorry I wasn't a better father to you. But I'm here now, for however long I can be.

Chloe is still hacked into the CTU computer system. For now she seems to be unnoticed. It seems that the safehouse was indeed bombed, no survivors.

Chloe: The preliminary report says it was a gas leak.
Tony: And just happens less than one hour after two high level, cooperative witnesses were transferred there.
Chloe: Yeah I don't believe it either.
Audrey: Do you think Chapelle is a traitor?
Tony: If not him, someone on the inside.
Audrey: Wouldn't it be Chapelle's decision where to send Gaines and White?
Tony: Yes it would, and the terrorists couldn't have planted a bomb so quickly. Either Chapelle, or someone higher up. Either way, we don't know who we can trust.
Chloe: Are we in danger here?
Audrey: Yes, they know where you live. We should leave, regroup at a motel or something.
Tony: Yeah, we should go now.

Chapelle is informed about the explosion at the safehouse. Fortunately his recent takeover has alloed him to bring in his own people, Carrie Turner, Brad Hammond. Nobody would dare question him anymore. Allen's forces will eliminate Jack Bauer and the others soon enough. Allen will be president, and Chapelle will greatly advance his own career.

Split screens show Tony and the others leaving Chloe's house, president Donovan negotiating with Hekmetyar, Chapelle going over the report to make sure this was ruled an accident, Jack Bauer sitting by his comatose daughter.

Jack suddenly gets a call on his cellphone. He didn't want to miss a minute with Kim, but he couldn't help himself. It was Chloe.

Jack: Chloe, are you okay?
Chloe: No. Someone tried to kill Tony and Audrey. They escaped, someone on the inside is trying to eliminate loose ends. I think it has something to do with the investigation three years ago. You're in danger too, we could really use your help right now.

Jack didn't want to leave his daughter, but he saw the security guards questioning Gary, and they seemed to recognize Jack. Jack knew he had to leave immediately, but he had to say goodbye to Kim.

Jack: Kim, I have to go. I just need you to know, your child will be okay. I really want to see you again, to have you raise little Teri. But if the pain is too much, if you have to go, it's okay to go. Goodbye.
