Disclaimer: I do not own anything from the Harry Potter universe.

Author note: I've had ideas for how Harry would act at Hogwarts and such, which was reason why I began this fanfiction. With that in mind, I know some of you may not like what I'm writing and some of you may leave/stop reading this entire fanfiction. The only thing I can do is to continue writing and publishing one chapter at a time and see how you all react to my vision.

Chapter Four – Preparation For a New Term

*many years later when Harry is around 9 years old*

"Good Harry, once again." calls out Remus.

Harry murmurs "protego" and rolls out of the way of a stinging jinx and sends the same spell back at its caster, Remus. Rolling out of the way of another stinging jinx, Harry sends one in return at its caster, Sirius.

"Well done Harry, well done." says Neville from across the room.

Kreacher pops into the room and hands both Sirius and Remus a vial of a dark green potion before popping away. Sirius downs his potion with a grimace and one gulp, with Remus doing likewise.

"Neville it is now your turn" says Remus, walking back into the caged area.

*August 1st 1991/ shortly before Harry's first year at Hogwarts*

"Harry, it is time to meet with the Longbottom's for the purchase of your Hogwarts supplies. But don't bring the sword, as you can't get new robes without the special cloaking spell to hide the sword." calls out Remus knocking loudly on door separating Harry's bedroom from the rest of the house.

Groaning, Harry rolls out of bed and quickly preforms his morning ablutions before grabbing his faded black robe and exits the room towards the kitchen. Seeing Harry's normally unruly hair even more so unruly this morning, Sirius says, "So Harry, did you and Neville enjoy yourselves with the Firewhiskey last night?"

Receiving a glare from Harry, Sirius breaks into laughter and says after a few moments, "I hope that you're ready to go get your Hogwarts supplies."

Swallowing a spoonful of porridge, Harry replies, "Of course. Neville and I can't wait to get to Hogswarts."

Smiling, Sirius says, "Is it because that the magical world hasn't heard or seen the famous Harry Potter for about a decade, or is it so you two can be trouble makers like Remus and I were back in our day?"

Grinning, Harry replies, "Both of course. I want to see Dumbledore's face when I finally appear."

"Good. Great ready as the Longbottom's are coming over." calls out Remus from the kitchen.

Harry spoons the last of the porridge into his mouth, gets up from his seat at the table, and takes the stairs two at a time. Just as Harry finishes brushing his teeth when the floo roars to life and he takes the stairs down to the sitting room as fast as he can while retaining as much formality as possible.

Looking up, Neville smiles and says, "Harry, good to see you again so soon."

"It's good to see you too, Neville." replies Harry, smiling.

"Ahem. Harry, you forgot to greet the adult Longbottoms." rebuffs Remus with disapproval throughout his tone of voice.

A bark of laughter is heard, followed by Sirius saying, "Remus, you're correct, but let the two youngsters have their fun, they're only eleven for Pete's sake."

"So Alice, Frank, and Augusta, are you three ready to accompany Harry and Neville to Diagon Alley for their supplies?" asks Remus.

"Of course. Alice can accompany Sirius in watching over Harry and Neville, and then after lunch you and I can continue chaperoning them, Remus." states Frank, still smirking from Sirius's comment.

Rolling his eyes, Remus takes a pinch of floo powder, tosses it into the fireplace, and calls out, "Diagon Alley".

Everyone else follows suit, and soon the party of seven end up in the Leaky Cauldron, dusting themselves off of soot.

"Well, where should we start, Alice?" asks Sirius.

"We could get the two their official wands before we head off to get them their robes. Then we can see what time it is and plan accordingly." replies Alice.

"Sounds good. Lead on, boss." says Sirius, smirking.

"Sirius!" calls out Remus.

Sirius looks back and gives Remus a quizzical look.

"Our meeting spot is at Fortescue's at noon. Don't be late." says Remus.

Nodding an acknowledgement, Sirius and Alice follow their energetic charges as they head towards Ollivander's.

Sighing, Remus turns and faces Augusta and Frank and says, "Well, it looks like we've got a few hours before we'll see them. Anything you all need doing before we all gather for lunch?"

Frank and Augusta look at each other for a few seconds and both shake their heads.

"Well, I want to get Harry an owl for letters between our place and Hogwarts. And I do need some new robes, but other than that…" begins Remus.

Both Frank and Augusta roll their eyes as they follow Remus to Eeylops Owl Emporium.

Harry pushes open the door to Ollivander's and enters the dusty little shop with Neville, Sirius, and Alice in tow.
The sound of the door's bell chiming awakens Mr. Ollivander and he comes speeding down the shelves, riding the ladder. Seeing Harry, Mr. Ollivander smiles and says, "I was counting down the days until you would enter my shop, Mr. Potter, and here you are."

Peering through his glasses, Mr. Ollivander spots Neville, Sirius, and Alice. "Ah, and here come some of the other famous witch and wizards. So Mr. Longbottom, you and your mother have come to get you your wand? Good, good." states Mr. Ollivander.

"Harry, let Neville go first." states Sirius.

Harry nods and Neville steps forward towards the counter.

"So Mr. Longbottom goes first? Good." says Mr. Ollivander, already amongst the shelves searching for a wand for Neville to test.

Multiple wands later, Mr. Ollivander says, "Try this one now, Mr. Longbottom."

Neville takes the wand and waves it and a fountain of wine bursts from the tip and into a vase of flowers nearby.

"Cherry, thirteen inches, with a strand of unicorn hair for a core. Very good choice, Mr. Longbottom." says Mr. Ollivander, smiling.

Alice pays Mr. Ollivander the seven galleons, and then Mr. Ollivander turns to Harry and says, "It is your turn, Mr. Potter."

Mr. Ollivander and Harry proceed to handle six wands when the seventh produces a smoky image of a stag from its tip.

A stunned silence fills the room and Mr. Ollivander says quietly, "Very curious this is. I've never seen this happen to a wand before. And this wand's core is from a phoenix. The phoenix gave only two feathers for wands, and the other feather ended up in the wand that gave you that scar, Mr. Potter."

"Thank you, Mr. Ollivander. We'll take the wand and leave you be." states Sirius.

Leaving Ollivander's, Sirius and Alice herd an excited Harry and Neville to Madam Malkin's for their school robes. Upon entering the store, the quartet spot a group of red headed individuals.

"Hello there, Molly." calls out Sirius.

Mrs. Weasley turns around from talking with a young, red headed individual standing on a platform with Madam Malkin doing some measurements.

"Oh, hello Sirius, Alice. So nice to see you—" begins Mrs. Weasley before spotting Harry.

"Is…is that Harry Potter?" asks Mrs. Weasley quietly.

Chuckling, Sirius replies, "Yes, it is. He is my godson and I'm his guardian. You obviously know Alice and her son, Neville."

Mrs. Weasley shakes hands with the quartet and says, "The boy on the platform is my youngest son, Ron. The girl is our darling daughter Ginny, with the twins, Fred and George, and of course Percy. William and Charlie are off doing their jobs with Gringotts and handling dragons respectfully."

Ginny turns around at the sound of her name, sees Harry, blushes, and hides behind Fred.

"Mrs. Weasley, who will be next from your family?" asks Madam Malkin.

"Fred, or is it George, well, one of the two of you get up there and get measured for some robes." says Mrs. Weasley.

Fred and Ron exchange places with Harry and Neville stepping up on some adjoining platforms where some animated tape measures begin measuring them. Soon enough everyone was fitted for robes.

"Mrs. Weasley, your order comes to 15 sickles and 8 knuts." states Madam Malkin.

Looking through her purse, Mrs. Weasley sighs and replies, "Then take the twin's robes off, we can't afford it."

"Madam Malkin, we'll pick up their entire order plus ours." says Sirius.

"But…but…" begins Mrs. Weasley.

"We have the money and every one of your kids deserve some new robes for the new term." says Sirius quietly.

"I won't accept charity, even though it is from you, Sirius." Replies Mrs. Weasley.

"I'm afraid that you no longer have an option. Just take it and let us know when it is possible for Harry and quite possibly Neville to hang out with your kids before the term starts. " says Sirius, smiling.

Mrs. Weasley sighs and says, "Would tomorrow be good for you all?"

Alice and Sirius turn to each other and hold a conversation with their eyes for a few seconds before Sirius turns to her, smiles, and says, "Yes, that would be great. Just mail us the time and we'll be there."

Mrs. Weasley grabs the robes and exits the building, with her children in tow. Sirius and Alice pay for their respective purchases and also leave.

Looking at his watch, Sirius says to Alice, "It's about time to meet with the rest of our entourage for lunch."

Nodding her acknowledgement, Alice leads the way to Fortescue's ice cream parlor and they meet up with Remus, Frank, and Augusta.

"Harry, I got you a gift." says Remus, reaching behind him and bringing out a snowy owl, "her name is Hedwig according to the shop owner."

Harry takes the cage and looks right into Hedwig's eyes and she coos softly. "She's beautiful, Remus. Thank you." says Harry.

Frank clears his throat and also brings out a cage with a black owl that is about equal in size to Hedwig, and says, "Neville, I got the idea for an owl for you for Hogwarts from Remus. He doesn't have a name, so you may name him anything you wish."

Neville thinks for a few moments and replies, "I'll name him, Sentinel, as he looks like he is guarding something."

Smiling, Frank says, "An interesting but a good choice of name for him."

The rest of the afternoon passes in quietness as there aren't many shoppers yet for the new term and Harry and Neville get their books, potion supplies, writing instruments and necessities, and even a Nimbus 2000 a piece, as their brooms at home have been needing replacement.
