Complete AU. As president Donovan tries to hold peace talks with a taliban leader fanatics try to disrupt the peace process. Meanwhile Jack Bauer has been on the run for over a year, but an old friend/enemy is looking for him.

Although wounded Hunter continues to drag Hekmatyar to the spot where Mandy's team will abduct him. The terrorists loyal to Sabzi are all dead, but Camp David is still under lockdown.

Agent Hayes maks his way to the infirmary, president Donovan is waiting for the doctors to examine him. Hayes has a syringe, with Amanita Phalloides, the poisonous mushroom that Chapelle injected into CTU's supply of sodium penathol. Hayes has no pretext to inject the president, he's expecting the doctors to do that. Hayes just hopes that the recent explosion left him disoriented. He tries to sneak up behind Donovan, and fails. As Hayes tries to inject the president Donovan realizes that Hayes is a traitor. They fight, as Donovan calls for help. Donovan wins this fight and injects Hayes with the Amanita Phalloides. The doctors arrive and try to save Hayes' life. Other than their dedication to human life, they realize that Hayes might be a source of intel.

Agent Hunter continues leading Hekmetyar at gunpoint. But suddenly they are surrounded by agent Pierce and other loyal agents. Pierce had tried to find them, and knew that Hunter had abducted Hekmetyar from the security cameras. Hunter knows he can't escape this, so he surrenders.

Split screens show Pierce freeing Hekmetyar, senator Allen nervously pacing in her office, president Donovan being given real medical attention, Jack Bauer and his group trying to get a lead to find Sabzi.

Pierce places agent Hunter under arrest.

Pierce: Why did you betray your country?

Hunter: Because they have a nuclear bomb, made from stolen x-ray machines. They threatened to detonate, kill over 10,000 innocent lives, if I didn't turn him over to them.

Hekmetyar: Is this true agent Pierce?

Pierce: I don't know agent Hunter's motives. But yes, your old friend did steal at least two x-ray machines, and they could have used them to build a nucler dirty bomb.

Hekmetyar: I cannot allow any more innocents to die because of me. Let this man go, I will turn mysellf over to them.
