Disclaimer: I do not own anything in the Harry Potter universe, otherwise I wouldn't be scrounging around for money every day.
Author note: The first part of this chapter is some back information that occurs before the actually planned chapter. One of the beta's recommended that I add the bonus content to this chapter instead of making it as its own chapter. Also, this chapter happens during the same time that the sixth chapter does/did.
Chapter Seven – An Unspeakable Meeting
*Ginny's POV [Point of View]*
August 1st, 1991
Dear diary,
So mum told us that tomorrow that Harry and Neville are coming over to play. To think that I might meet the boy of my dreams finally makes me so happy *squeal*. But…I don't know if he'll like me or find me annoying.
So many thoughts. So many things.
Ginny
*At Sirius's House in the Country*
"So you think we should really do this, Sirius?"
"Course I do! The bloody world won't know what hit 'em."
Remus sighs, "You're right, the world won't know what hit it. But do you think this will be as successful as you say it will be?"
With a nod and a smile Sirius says, "I do. This will be huge, and I'm sure Prongs will be howling along once we get it started."
"If you say so, Sirius, if you say so." murmurs Remus.
August 2nd, 1991
Dear diary,
Harry and Neville came over, and mum almost made them go home over something. Ugh, mum's such a pain in the arse some times.
So we played Quidditch for hours, seriously, and I was on Harry and Neville's team. Harry and I were chasers, and we worked as a team. Harry loaned me his old broom, and I touched his hand. I may never wash that hand ever again *sigh of contentment*. I don't think he noticed me blushing when our eyes met.
A knock on the door interrupts me from writing, and I turn around to see mum standing in the doorway.
"Ginny dear, you should be asleep."
"But muuuuuum. Just a few more minutes." I complain.
Mum purses her lips for a few moments almost ready to say 'no' but then leaves without another word being said. I turn back to my diary and continue.
One day I want to be Mrs. Potter. Not just want, but I'll do it. I have to.
Future Mrs. Ginerva Potter
*August 2nd, 1991, morning time*
Remus, Frank, and Augusta continue to sit in their chairs while Sirius and Alice place hands on their kids, and apparate.
"So, today I'd like to take you all with Sirius and I as we go to the Department of Mysteries." states Remus.
"When will we leave for the ministry?" asks Augusta, curiosity laced through her voice.
"We'll be heading out once Sirius and Alice get back from the Weasleys'.I'd rather not have to tell this story more than necessary" states Remus.
*a short while later*
A chiming sound echoes through the house, and Sirius and Alice arrive via apparition directly after. Hearing the sound and seeing his wife, Frank gets to his feet, hugs his wife, and asks, "What was that chiming sound?"
"It's a new ward! Loud enough to wake us up, but not too annoying." A chuckle, "Course, after dealing with my mum's old painting screeching whenever someone crosses her anything's an improvement" replies Sirius.
Clapping his hands together, Sirius asks, "So, everyone ready to go to the ministry and such and get this over with?"
Quickly flooing to the Ministry's atrium and from there walking at a brisk pace to the DMLE. Arriving at the Auror office, the secretary smiles and says, "Hello Frank, Alice, glad to see you; Director Bones is expecting you all, and she'll be out shortly."
Frank remains standing while the rest of the group sits down in some nearby chairs. "Lily, Alice and I will resume our positions tomorrow, as we've just finished moving into our new home."
Ms. Desbian, the secretary, smiles and replies, "I'll let Director Bones know about your early return. And congratulations on the new house."
"Thanks." responds Frank, walking over to the rest of the group when Director Bones comes out of her office, smiles, and says, "Good, glad to see that I'm done right on time", before walking over to the group, who all stand up, and follow her to the lifts.
"Alice, Frank, and of course Augusta, Sirius and Remus asked me if we could reveal some very important information to you all, since we believe that it may involve your son, and so we go to the Department of Mysteries for the reveal." states Director Bones.
The three addressed nod, and soon the group finds themselves at the Department of Mysteries, and quickly exit the lift. Director Bones knocks on a nearby door, and Croaker opens the door, smiles at the group, finishes opening the door, and says, "I'm glad we are all here. Let's go across the hall to my workshop."
Croaker leaves his office, shuts the door, and taps a certain pattern on the nearby wall while murmuring something under his breath, with a door appearing seemingly out of nowhere. "Come in, come in." states Croaker, gesturing to the newly formed door.
When the entire group had gathered in the room that Croaker uses as a workshop, the door melds back into the wall, and a table rises from the center of the floor, with multiple objects on it.
"So, Alice, Frank, and Augusta, you are aware of the prophecy that stated that Voldemort would choose either your son, or the Potter's son as his equal, and how he had been vanquished, correct?" asks Croaker.
Alice, Frank, and Augusta nod their heads, and Croaker continues, "We have recently discovered some disturbing information relating to Mr. Riddle. He has created horcruxes."
While Alice and Frank had a mirrored expression of confusion, Augusta had one of overwhelming horror and disgust "H-he made a horcrux?! By Merlin and Morgana, just when you though he couldn't get any worse."
Croaker exhales loudly, "He didn't just make a horcrux; he's made at least three. We've neutralized two, and there may possibly be more."
"More of them?" exclaims Alice.
Croaker and Director Bones both nod their heads wearily, with Croaker replying, "Yes. One of the ones we've found was in Harry's lightning bolt scar. We've since removed it, many years ago actually, but it is troublesome. To split one's soul willingly to create a horcrux, one must kill in cold-blood. And to think that he made multiple makes him seem…inhuman."
Alice and Augusta gasp, and Frank just shakes his head and says with noticeable anger, "He must be stopped…somehow."
Croaker nods his agreement, and says, "Through some discovery, we've found out that fiendfyre and basilisk venom can destroy horcruxes. But that's all we've found so far in the past few years since Sirius and Remus brought the locket to us.
Alice and Augusta continue to cover their mouths with their hands, and Frank croaks out in surprise, "What?"
Sirius nods his head slowly, and replies, "Yes, he did. Kreacher, my house elf, detected some really dark magic when he was taking care of Harry, and things went from there. Eventually Harry was led into the Room of Love, and with the help of a Patronus Charm, the horcrux was removed and destroyed."
"What Sirius says is correct, and fortunately there haven't been any long term effects from exposure. Although we don't know if there ever will be." states Croaker.
"Wait, what?" exclaims Sirius.
Croaker shrugs his shoulders and replies, "We're not entirely certain what the effects of a horcrux being implanted into a child are, but they couldn't be good. But as I said, so far nothing has come about it."
Alice turns to Amelia and asks tentatively, "Director…have you known all these years about these…horcruxes?"
"Yes, I have. Sirius and Remus asked me nearly ten years ago if I knew someone in the Department of Mysteries that I trust, and after ten years we are still here, still searching." replies Director Bones.
"Well, I'm done discussing their abhorrent topic and am ready to move on if you all are." states Sirius.
The rest of the group nod in agreement and they file out of the mysterious workshop. Reaching the atrium, Sirius and Remus get out of the lift and Sirius speaks, "We've got some business to attend to at Gringotts, so we'll meet you all at the Weasleys' for dinner later."
Sirius and Remus proceed out of the ministry and soon arrive at Gringotts. They wait in line for a few minutes when the goblin clerk looks up with his seemingly soulless eyes and speaks with a gravelly voice, "Yes?"
Sirius clears his throat but Remus speaks first, "We, meaning Mr. Black and I, Mr. Lupin, would like to talk to someone regarding the opening of a business vault, with possibly other vaults as well."
Staring at Remus for multiple moments, the clerk turns to a nearby goblin and speaks in rapid Gobbledegook, before turning back to Remus and Sirius and speaking, "Griphook will show you to one of our business managers."
Sirius and Remus follow Griphook down a winding series of hallways until they reach a sparsely furnished room, and are told to sit down.
"So, Mr. Lupin and Mr. Black, you two wish to start a business here in Diagon Alley and have a business account, is that correct?" asks Griphook.
"Yes, but-" begins Remus.
"Before you object, I am authorized to conduct business accounts, openings, mergings, and the likes, Mr. Lupin." states Griphook.
Clapping and rubbing his hands together, Sirius smiles and says, "Good. Straight to business. We also wish to open two vaults to store five percent of the profit from each item in each, with five percent apiece going into our personal vaults here."
"And who shall the two vaults be opened for?" queries Griphook.
"One for Harry Potter, and one for Neville Longbottom." states Sirius.
"And what would you like to call your business?" asks Griphook.
Sirius and Remus share a silent but brief conversation with their eyes, before Remus turns to Griphook and replies, "We'd like to call it 'Marauder's Emporium'."
Griphook finishes writing on the papers in front of him, before passing them to his left, to Remus and handing him a quill.
"Please sign your names, and the accounts shall be opened, and keys procured for you two. Your address will be 42 Diagon Alley. Rent will be automatically taken out of the account on the first of the month. I assume you wish to pay the expenses through your account, Mr. Black?" states Griphook.
Sirius nods, signs his name with Remus following suit, both with an itching sensation on the backs of their unused hands. Griphook hands Sirius and Remus each a key to the business vault alongside a key apiece to get inside their business location. A key to each of the vaults for Harry and Neville are given to Remus for safe keeping.
"Misters Black and Lupin, to better keep track of the funds, Gringotts will provide you with a till that will automatically empty and refill as needed for the making of change. We will also send you monthly statements regarding your revenue, expenses, and profit for the accounts, until Misters Potter and Longbottom become of age, of which they will receive monthly statements regarding the flow of funds into their accounts." states Griphook.
Sirius and Remus stand, and follow Griphook out of the room and back into the lobby, before leaving and heading to the Weasley's for the dinner. Arriving at the Weasley's, Remus searches out Augusta before dinner and motions to her for a private conversation. With a quizzical look on her face, Augusta nods and follows Remus a short distance away from the rest of the group.
"Augusta, Sirius and I have begun a business, with five percent of the profit from each sale going into a vault for Harry, and one for Neville. I'd like you to keep this secret from Alice, Frank, and of course Neville, but Sirius and I agreed that our kids should be given a cut of the profits, seeing as they have been testing out our prototype models for the last year or two, and hopefully will continue testing in the future. Here's Neville's vault key." States Remus, handing Augusta the key.
"Thank you, Remus. Having some funds for after Hogwarts for his own use will certainly be nice. Shall we return to the dinner?" replies Augusta, and they return to the group awaiting for dinner to begin.
Author note: I couldn't find out how to start a business in the wizarding world, so I had them go through Gringotts, as most of the wizarding world does most of their financial transactions through Gringotts of what I've read. Thanks for reading.
