They were met with a similarly fierce amount of resistance inside the building. Fighting through and subduing them, the Heroes made It to their target. Descending the stairs, they quickly broke through the wall and continued down the corridor.
As the group made their way through the corridor, It began to warp Into an odd amalgamation of what It once was. Barely keeping on their feet, the group tried to find the source. Mirai looked around frantically. "Mirai, Is it a Youmu?" Nighteye shouted towards the Student, as she examined the morphed surroundings.
"I don't think-" Her voice cut off as black hands wrapped around her arms and legs. Looking towards their origin, she found a portal waiting for her. "Shit!" Mirai exclaimed as she was pulled towards the portal.
"Mirai!" Midoriya shouted as he shot towards her. Reaching out to her, he barely missed her before she disappeared Into the portal. The walls continued to warp, as Midoriya cursed under his breath.
"Nighteye, I think Mazoku took Mirai!" Midoriya reported as he struggled to maintain his footing. "Tch. We'll have to hope she can handle him on her own, we have to keep moving… somehow."
Meanwhile…
Breaking free of the hands, Mirai skidded to a stop. Quickly discarding her glove, she formed her sword. Holding It out in front of her, Mirai examined the room. "No need be so uptight, Mirai Kuriyama." Mazoku's voice greeted her on the other side of the room.
"What are you planning, Mazoku?" Mirai asked as she held her sword out towards him. Mazoku tilted his head slightly. "I guess you should know. It does affect you directly." Mazoku put both hands up, as he started to grin.
"I want to rid our world of Youmu for good!" Mirai lowered her blade slightly. "How?" Mazoku looked back at her. "By throwing them Into another world. It's the most effective method and easiest. You being sent here was what gave me the idea."
Mirai furrowed her brow. "You're using the same Youmu who sent me here, to execute your plan…?" Mazoku smiled, even more, his expression unreadable. "Exactly…" As his grin faded, Mazoku reached towards his leg.
"Unfortunately, You Spirit world Warriors are blind to the simple fact that you are Ineffective. So much so that you try to stop me from achieving something this great for our world. You won't be any different of course, so there's no use to talk further."
Mirai lurched back, barely avoiding a punch from a Nomu covered In the familiar black Aura from before. Spinning away, she cut down multiple youmu who began to gather In the room. "I'm not going to let you doom this world!" Mirai shouted as Mazoku walked over to the center of the room.
"Feel free to try and stop me." He replied, before snapping his fingers. At the snap, two more Nomu broke through the walls and Into the room. This time they had different Aura's. Gritting her teeth, Mirai launched herself towards the first Nomu.
Its black Aura shot out, twisting to avoid It midair, Mirai sharpened her blade and cut the Nomu In half breaking through the Aura. The moment her feet touched the ground, she shot towards Mazoku.
He grinned in response, as the second Nomu slammed their fist Into the ground. The whole floor began to crumble as Its cyan Aura washed Into the newly created cracks, while Mirai lept Into the air. From above Mirai watched the third Nomu rear their arms back, as their pink aura circled them.
The third Nomu then brought both arms up and unleashed a barrage of pink blasts. Deflecting all that she could, Mirai launched off the ceiling and towards the third Nomu. Elegantly swinging her sword, Mirai built up centrifugal force.
"Ah, gotta try harder than that." Mazoku dismissed Mirai's combat with an exaggerated yawn, as the black aura returned to the first Nomu. Disregarding him, Mira swept her sword Into the third Nomu, cutting through It with such force that It blew up a cloud of dust and debris throughout the room.
Mazoku raised a hand to keep his eyes clear of the debris as he looked into the cloud. He meekly dodged the corpse of the second Nomu and brought a hand to his side. As the cloud cleared, Mirai stood alone.
"I guess they were always fodder. I guess I should've just killed you myself." Mazoku brought his hand to the grip of a sword. Unsheathing the blade, he began walking towards Mirai. "If you mean to end this, be my guest," Mirai responded, as she brought her sword out In front of her.
Running forward, Mazoku and Mirai clashed blades. Matching strike after strike, Mirai slowly gained the upper hand. A scant cut here, and a closed miss there. Smashing her blade Into his, It began to slowly crack.
Pushing her away, the once composed Mazoku was now breathing heavily with several small cuts all over his body. "I guess you were all talk," Mirai exclaimed as she lunged forwards for the finishing blow.
Gritting his teeth, Mazoku lept Into the air. Missing her attack, Mirai jumped after him. A light glow began to appear above him. "You're not getting away this time!" Mirai shouted, grabbing Mazoku's leg. A bright flash enveloped the two of them, as they passed through the portal.
Shooting out of the portal, Mirai looked at her surroundings. The alleyway was the same one she'd gotten teleported from all that time ago. "I'm… back." Letting the momentary happiness go, she looked at Mazoku. she readied her blade as Mazoku got up from the ground. "God, suggesting youmu is hard In another world. Fortunately, this has worked out In my favor!"
Youmu quickly swarmed the familiar alleyway. A massive youmu suddenly rammed Into Mirai. Twisting Into the air, she cut down a second before dodging a projectile from a third. Landing back on the ground she rolled to a stop, Mirai breathed heavily.
"You're good, but not that good!" Mazoku exclaimed as Mirai's shadow Itself pulled her towards Mazoku. Covering herself in blood, wincing In preparation before another giant Youmu slammed Into her. Breaking down a nearby building, Mirai collapsed onto all fours as blood dripped from her head.
"I suppose I should start my plan now." Mazoku smiled, holding his hands together, dozens of portals opened. As Mirai struggled onto her feet, she looked on In horror as an uncountable amount of Youmu flooded Into the Portals.
"That's Enough!" Mirai yelled, lunging towards Mazoku as fast as she could. Mazoku stumbled to the side, narrowly avoiding the fatal attack. Examining his now cut coak, he frowned. "How could you! That was-" His eyes shot up, too late to avoid large claws from raking across his face. Clutching his face, Mazoku stumbled backward.
"Sorry I'm late, Mirai." Mirai breathed heavily, as she turned to look at the familiar voice. "Akihito…" Mirai said, with tears In her eyes. Regaining her composure, she readied her sword and stood next to Akihito.
"I'll have to explain later, but he Is our enemy. He controls Youmu somehow so be careful!" Akihito nodded and looked towards Mazoku. "Ack, Damn you!" Mazoku's hand swept forth and dozens of Youmu poured towards the pair.
Suddenly, the Incoming Youmu were picked apart by rapid gunfire. Any stragglers were vaporized. The few that got through launched projectiles at the pair. Raising her blade, Mirai was interrupted by a glacial barrier blocking the attacks.
"You didn't think I came alone did you?" Akihito smiled at Mirai, smiling back the pair turned to Mazoku. His fingers digging Into the earth, he began laughing uncontrollably. A massive portal opened up behind him.
Shooting forward, Mirai kicked Mazoku out of the way. Hesitating, she turned back to her friends. " I can't leave that world to deal with Youmu alone, I have to-" Akihito approached her. Laying a hand on her shoulder, he smiled at her. "Don't worry, I'm not going to let you go alone again."
Mirai's worry began to fade away. Turning to the others she smiled. "Sorry for leaving again so soon." Hiroomi smiled and waved his hand. "Don't worry, we'll clean up things here." Sakura smiled back "Promise to come back eventually or we'll find a way back to you!"
Mitsuki approached the pair. "Take care of her, or else, Akihito. Take care, Mirai." Nodding in response, Akihito turned to Mirai. "Ready when you are." Mirai hesitated once more, before taking Akihito's hand In hers.
"Let's go!"
The pair passed through the portal, which closed shortly afterward.
