From their motel room Jack Bauer's group recieves a call from Nina Myers.

Jack: Nina, do you have anything?
Nina: Maybe. Sabzi's team has Hekmetyar.
Jack: They didn't kill him right away?
Nina: No, I think Sabzi wants to do it himself. Chapelle says he's putting all of our resources on it, but he's ignoring one.
Jack: What lead is that?
Nina: One of the Secret Service agents who betrayed the president, Hayes, in the last hour Hayes recieved a very large payment from an alleged charity. The charity is called Orphans of Mecca.
Jack: I know that name. During our investigation of corruption we came across that charity. It was suspected of being a front, a way to pay off the families of homicide bombers, other terrorist operations. But that case was dropped due to lack of evidence.
Nina: This can't be a coincidence.
Jack: There's something else, one of the donors to this "charity" was senator Mackensie Allen.
Nina: And with the vice-president's death and speaker Haffley's resignation, Allen is now a heartbeat away from the White House.
Jack: We'll check on this money trail from here, any local areas where Sabzi might be hiding. Be careful, you too.

Agent Pierce informs president Donovan that Hekmetyar has been taken prisoner.

Pierce: We are trying to track them, but they're using evasive tactics. I fear we might not be able to get Hekmetyar back alive.
Donovan: There is no other major leader in the taliban who is willing to make peace with America. Certainly none who are willing to allow freedom for women, for religious and ethnic minorities. We lose him, the war in Afghanistan will continue for at least another generation.

As president Donovan contemplates the worst he recieves a call from one of his new deputies, Jack Bauer.

Donovan: Yes Jack?
Jack: Mr president, we found a lead. One of the alleged charities we investigated has become active again. They made a large payment to agent Hayes. One of the donors to this "charity" was senator Mackensie Allen.
Donovan: She's an athiest and a hawk on foreign policy, so I find it hard to believe she donated to a muslim charity. But it's also hard to believe she's involved in terrorism.
Jack: I understand sir, but we have the evidence. And if the attempt on your life had succeeded, she'd be president right now.
Donovan: I'll take the eccessary precautions, but I need more evidence.
Jack: We'll try to find some sir.

Stasevich finishes loading his dirty bomb into a van. Sabzi sends two of his team with him for protection.

Sabzi: This area here is too remote to make an effective demonstration. I would prefer to have my vengeance against Hekmetyar, but I know things can happen very quickly. Try to find the most populated area, but if capture becomes unavoidable don't hesitate.
Stasevich: I won't. We will kill many americans today.
