Wakko Runs Away

Chapter 10

On the other side of the bushes from Wakko was Yakko still searching high and low for his younger brother, not realizing just how close they were to each other.

Yakko could hear the rustling of the bushes in front of him. He thought there was a potentially dangerous animal on the other side.

Wakko was also thinking the same thing when he heard the rustling in the bushes. Both brothers ran away from the bush they were both at when they thought they were in real trouble.

"Whoa, that was close!," said Wakko. However, he was beginning to feel there was someone standing near him. He didn't know how close they were, just that this someone was nearby, perhaps looking for him.

Wakko then looked behind the bushes and saw Yakko on the other side walking around. It then occurred to Wakko that Yakko was looking for him.

"They really do care about me," Wakko said quietly to himself, not wanting Yakko to hear him.

Though he now knew what was going on, Wakko kept a low profile, making sure Yakko didn't see him right away. He thought about crawling through the bushes and surprise Yakko, but he just decided maybe it was best for Yakko to see him, so he got up on his feet and made himself visible.

After the teenagers who kidnapped Dot were arrested, she was finally free and able to go back and find Yakko and Wakko. Even though she wouldn't admit it, she missed them despite all the fighting they had been doing lately.

Dot was hopeful they were both together when she found them, or at least that she would find one of them along the way.

"I'm sorry, Yakko and Wakko," Dot said to herself while walking through the woods. "I promise I'll be a better sister, no matter what you do."

Wakko started moving through the bushes to get to Yakko, but it was not an easy path. When he emerged, Wakko was covered in cuts from the branches and thorns of the bushes and his trademark blue turtleneck t-shirt was also slightly torn.

the rustling sound was just loud to enough for Yakko to turn around and see his brother standing right in front of him.

"WAKKO!," Yakko shouted happily. "YOU'RE ALIVE! AM I HAPPY TO SEE YOU!"

"So am I," Wakko said back.

"You don't realize how much I missed you, younger brother," Yakko said, still elated to see Wakko again. "Though I understand if you never want to come home again after what happened."

"I missed you and Dot too," said Wakko. "I wish I had never left you. What I did was just as bad as what you did to me." The brothers then shared a rare hug.

"I'm sorry that I treated you like you were nothing," Yakko said, tears starting to well up in his eyes.

"And I'm sorry that I walked out on you and Dot," Wakko replied. "Speaking of Dot, what happened to her?"

"She walked away from me too," Yakko replied, fear in his voice. "We have to go find her." Before long, the boys were off to find their sister.

Though Dot had managed to escape the teenagers that kidnapped her, she was totally lost. The place where she was kidnapped was so far away that she was walking around in circles.

"I wish I could remember where I was when those brats took me", Dot whispered to herself.

After a while, she finally moved in one direction, hoping she would find where her brothers went off to. Before long, Dot could see two figures in the distance. She didn't know who or what they were.

As Dot got closer, she could finally see it was Yakko and Wakko reuniting with each other.

"Wakko!", Dot said quietly so that they couldn't hear her. Though she wouldn't admit it, she missed Wakko too. After all, he and Yakko were Dot's brothers, and family was supposed to mean more than anything.

"I better hide away so that they don't see me," Dot whispered to herself. "I can't let them know I'm here after what I did to Yakko."

Once Yakko and Wakko were reunited with each other, they started looking for Dot, wondering where she went. As they were about to begin their search, they heard a strange noise.

"What's that sound?", asked Yakko. The brothers then went to look for what was causing the sound behind them.

Yet, despite searching high and low, they couldn't see anything even remotely close to them, until Yakko spotted what looked like a black plant with a yellow flower on it.

"That's weird," Wakko said. "An unusual flower coming up from the ground."

"It's not a flower, Wakko," Said Yakko. "It's...Dot!" The boys walked over and saw Dot hiding in the bushes.

"Wakko, be real quiet," Yakko whispered. "We don't want Dot to know we're right behind her. She's pretty upset right now."

Yakko then tapped Dot lightly on the head, but no response.

After a few taps, Dot realized something was touching her. She turned around to look at what it was that was poking her.

"Hey, cut it out, Yakko!," Dot said after seeing that it was Yakko. After seeing Yakko, Dot jumped up in excitement. "YAKKO!", she said excitedly. "You don't know how glad I am to see you."

"I'm just glad you're okay," Yakko replied. "I would really be mad at myself if something happened to you."

"Something did happen to me, Yakko," said Dot. "I was kidnapped, and I thought I wouldn't get out of it alive."

"You were kidnapped?!", said Wakko. "Don't worry, Dot. I'll hit them with my giant mallet and show them not to mess with us."

"Uh, that's not necessary, Wakko," said Yakko.

"And Wakko, I'm glad you're okay," said Dot. "I'm sorry for treating you like you were nothing."

"Why thanks, Dot," Wakko said forgivingly. "I realize I should never have left you guys in the first place."

"Well, now that we're all together again, let's head back home," said Yakko. With that, the trio started their long journey back to Burbank.
