Prologue
Sasori was a lot of things. A puppeteer, a murderer, a missing ninja from Sunagakure, a member of a terrorist organisation but he was not immortal no matter how invincible he may seem. Which is why he was confused as to how he was alive. Or at least he thought he was alive. What did Sasori consider alive? Was it the form he was in prior to his downfall at the hands of his grandmother or was it the feeling of having flesh on your skin and blood in your veins. Sasori hadn't moved an inch since he woke up and started into the sky above him so he could've been in hell for all he knew but it seemed a bit too nice to be part of hell.
Sasori lay still for the next five minutes watching the sky, tracing the movements of the occasional bird above him and most importantly wondering what is going on. He finally expended the will power to make himself sit up and he was surprised at what he saw. He was sitting in the middle of a lush clearing in a forest. To his left there was a small pong harbouring a dozen lily pads and a lizard resting on a warm rock on the edge. Behind the pond and pretty much everywhere else there were trees. Not any trees that Sasori could recognise, he had been to Konoha before but the trees there were very thin with long branches and dull.
The trees in front of him looked so full of life.
Their branches looked like they were arms reaching for something that was so close that it was within their grasp. The leaves weren't just sitting there, they were waving around in the wind as if they were greeting Sasori as if he was an old friend. The roots of the trees eagerly bulged out of the ground like prisoners breaking free of their restraints. The flowers on the trees were in such vibrant colours that they looked as if they were inspired by flowers in children's books. The fruit in the trees all looked ripe and ready for the taking as if they were all in the display section at the front of supermarkets.
Sasori had never seen anything so beautiful. It was at this moment that Sasori realised something. He realised that art wasn't what he perceived it to be, nor was it whatever Deidara thought it was. Art is something to be enjoyed, art is something that brings a smile to your face. It was then that Sasori did something that he hadn't done since he was in his parents' loving embrace.
He smiled.
Smiling almost felt relieving, it felt natural. At the time he hadn't realised that he had pulled his strings to make a genuine smile. He wasn't sure if he even did pull them. Maybe the phenomenon of him smiling was done by nature itself. He didn't know and he probably never would. It was at this moment that a gust of wind blew through the clearing and blew a flower off one of the trees right into Sasori's lap causing him to look down. He noticed the flower petals were the same vibrant red colour as his hair with a small yellow circle on the inner side of each petal. He looked at the tree the flower came from and noticed that this was the only flower that harboured the yellow circles.
"So you're different from the rest. I guess I'm similar to you in that regard. Some people just don't function well with others. These people tend to not have many friends." Sasori spoke in the raspy voice that he used when hibernating inside of his Hiruko puppet. He paused and looked up to where he heard a chirping sound. There was a black bird, a swallow to be specific sitting on a branch watching a group of blue swallows fly away. It was obvious to most people that the black swallow was a rare occurrence. The black swallow tried to fly with them but couldn't keep up and sat down on another branch as if he had given up.
"I guess you and I are prime examples of those people mister swallow. Now that I think about it, I pushed everyone who was close to me away. So i'm in this position thanks to nobody but myself. You were born as an outsider so I guess you have an excuse for being lonely." Sasori continued before sitting there in silence, the flower still on his lap and the bird still sitting on a low branch looking as if it was attentively listening to Sasori's speech. Sasori was about to continue speaking again before he noticed a chirping and looked at the source.
The chirping came from another black swallow, similar to the one sitting on the branch. The other bird proceeded to fly over to the first bird and engage in a conversation with it. Sasori watched the proceedings with wide eyes as he saw the two birds fly away through the trees.
"I guess even outsiders like you can make friends. Unfortunately I've done too many bad things to be accepted by anyone let alone make friends." Sasori said in his normal voice before standing up and watching as the flower that was elegantly resting on his lap blew away in another gust of wind. Sasori took a moment to examine himself and look at what condition his body was in. The first thing that he noticed was he still harboured his Akatsuki cloak and for some reason his slashed Sunagakure headband was resting on his head.
He untied the headband from the back and watched it fall off his head directly onto the grass below his feet. The last thing that he wanted was to be reminded of his old life, especially of his dead relatives in Sunagakure. He unbuttoned his Akatsuki cloak and let it drop to the floor as well so that he could examine his condition. He was surprised when he noticed that there was no damage anywhere on his body. He opened the compartment in the right side of his chest and was surprised to find all of his scrolls inside there. Even scrolls containing the third Kazekage and Hiruko which were shattered in his final battle. He also noticed that his poison containers were empty so he would have to make more.
Sasori picked up his Akatsuki robe and put it back on before going to where he sensed the most chakra signatures.
Sasori got a second chance at living.
He knew that it wasn't a result of good karma because he didn't have much of that.
Which left him with one question.
Why?
As you probably know already, this story will be a Naruto x Fairy tail crossover with Sasori as the protagonist. Sasori is my favourite character in Naruto and I noticed that he had very little crossover fanfictions about him so I decided to write one. If you enjoyed it please leave a review telling me what you liked about it or suggestions for omakes. If you didn't enjoy it please leave a review letting me know what I should improve on in the next chapter. Either way please leave a review because reviews give me motivation to keep writing.
