Chapter 3: Komushi and the Curse
"It is day two of the Grand Magic Games and the stands are exploding with excitement! Joining me once again is Mr. Yajima and our new special guest, Sorcerer Weekly's Jason!" A brown haired Chapati Lola shouted over the loudspeaker earning a typical 'So cool' response from Jason.
"Let's get back to the action already in progress as our wizards take on the chariots!" He continued, "The point of this game is to reach the final goal without falling off. Simple right? Wrong. The chariots are constantly in motion, and while it's at a snail's pace one false move could cost you! Which team will survive this rough and tumble sightseeing tour through Crocus and be the first to cross the finish line?"
"You've seen a lot in your days, but would you have ever predicted something remotely like this?" Chapati asked the old man in a chef hat next to him who didn't give a clear response in return.
"Uh oh, I don't know what's going on with Fairy Tail A's Natsu but he can barely put one foot infront of the other, but that's not all! Mere feet away are Fairy Tail B's Gajeel and Sabertooth's Sting who seem to be in the same boat. And lying down behind them is Akatsuki's Nagato.
Sasori was not in a good mood. Once again his puppet was too far away for him to control it. The best he could do was keep one string attached to make their mouth move and use his ventriloquism on it. He knew that he should be fine because he probably wasn't going to lose any of the one on one matches but he would like to get as much points as possible just to make sure. Once Nagato was in the arena, Sasori could control him but it would probably be too late to get any extra points.
Sasori waited patiently until he saw Nagato enter the stadium on the very last cart and he used his puppet strings to make him dash straight to the finish line. He found out that surprisingly, he didn't come in last and came in second last because one of the Sabertooth members forfeited. He saw the scoreboard and noticed that he was still in third place, albeit barely.

He looked at the Sabertooth box and saw that the members were not happy with the change of rankings, especially their master. Suddenly his thoughts were interrupted by the voice of Chapati Lola announcing the next match.
"The first match of today will be Fairy Tail A's Erza Scarlet against Akatsuki's Hidan!" Sasori put himself under a genjutsu once again and pulled out his hands ready to control Hidan. He made Hidan jump down into the arena and pull his triple bladed red scythe of his back. He heard Deidara complain about never being chosen and chuckled slightly.
Sasori concluded that Erza was very strong judging by the looks of admiration she was receiving from not only her guild but some people in the stands so he decided to not waste time and send his scythe to Erza with the intention of taking a drop of her blood. In response Erza pulled a pair of swords out of thin air and blocked the attack which surprised Sasori.
Erza was good at dodging and blocking but Sasori wasn't going to give her an opening to attack unless she was willing to get hit by his scythe. After being on the defensive for so long Erza decided to make a dash at Hidan who was for the most part standing still while moving his scythe using an extension cord. Once Erza had made some distance, Sasori reeled in his scythe which cut Erza's cheek on the way back to him. The action left him open temporarily which Erza took advantage of by pulling a black Katana out of thin air and side slashing Hidan in the chest area launching him to the right.
In response Sasori pulled out Hidan's sharp knife-like object called a retractable pike that he used once his opponent was under one of his curses and used it to block Erza's sword so that it would cut into his body and expose his puppet body. Even though Sasori blocked the attack the force behind Erza's sword sent his puppet flying fairly far away before hitting the wall and landing on the ground. Sasori took no time picking his puppet off the floor. His puppet took out his retractable pike and made a deep gash in his thigh causing blood to flow and make a puddle on the ground.
Sasori was aware of how Hidan's ritual worked and knew that he would need some extra blood to create his ritual circle on the ground so he pre-prepared some and stored it in both of Hidan's thigh and palm compartments.
Sasori placed Hidan's foot in the pile of blood and drew his ritual circle which confused the crowd. First this strange man cuts himself and then he draws a strange looking magic circle on the ground. Sasori wasted no time licking Erza's blood off his scythe and stabbing his pike into his left palm to make sure it worked. Erza was confused as to why he stabbed himself until she felt an extreme amount of pain assault her left hand. She looked at her hand to find a gash the size of the one on her opponents hand staring right back at her.
"Give up." Sasori said in a monotone voice as he stabbed his wound once again causing Erza to scream in pain. Everyone in the crowd was confused except for the few smart mages who deduced what was happening. "I have you under a curse that links both of our bodies meaning that any damage I sustain, you will sustain as well. The only difference is that I have a much higher pain tolerance then you." Everyone in the crowd was shocked that a magic like that existed and some people such as Juvia had already seen Meredy use a similar type of magic weren't as surprised.
"Never," was the only word that left Erza's mouth in response to Sasori's suggestion. As she said this Erza charged at him with a pair of twin swords out however her sprint was cut short when Sasori cut Hidan's thigh compartment. Erza saw the puppet swing at his thigh and braced for an injury just before she nosedived into the ground after losing her stability in her right leg.
"Give up, it's pointless." Sasori stated again in a louder voice than before as he watched Erza struggle.
"I will never give up! I am doing this for my friends and nothing will get in my way when I'm doing something for them!" Erza shouted as she got to her feet again.
Flashback
"Hey Sasori, you're my friend and you should know that if you ever need anything that I won't let anything get in my way to help you!" A young boy wearing a Sunagakure forehead protector which was covered by a triangular piece of brown hair declared. The boy was named Komushi and was the only person who came remotely close to becoming Sasori's friend during his younger years in Sunagakure.
Flashback End
The crowd would have seen Sasori's eyes widen if it wasn't for the genjutsu covering him. All of his memories of Komushi came flooding in as if someone had just turned on a tap containing all of his memories of him that were locked away until that time.
"Hey Sasori, Granny Chiyo asked if those three puppets you were working on were ready yet."
"Sasori! Are you even listening to me? Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself because of how quiet you are."
"Wow Sasori, did you make this arm for me? It's awesome, it feels just like my old arm except better."
Suddenly an image of a dead Komushi lying on Sasori's work bench appeared in the forefront of his mind. Moments away from his transition into a human puppet.
Sasori stood still for what felt like forever before gathering the courage to take control of his Hidan puppet again. But then instantly lost the courage again.
He had his strings attached to Hidan and had his next move ready in his mind but he still couldn't bring himself to control the puppet. His emotions were scrambled and he needed time to figure them out so he did the only thing his narrow minded self could do at that point in time. He raised his hand high in the air and spoke the words.
"I forfeit."
Once again Sasori didn't care for the rest of the matches and instead retreated himself into a genjutsu and unscrambled his thoughts. Before he knew it the other matches had concluded allowing him to leave. On his way out he looked at the very unsettling scoreboard.

Okay, I know that this chapter was shorter than the previous one but I thought that this was a good spot to end it on. Komushi isn't an OC and appeared during Naruto Shippuden episode 319 (Which was basically a filler episode about Sasori's childhood). This chapter didn't have any flashy fights like the previous one but I can guarantee you that the next chapter will have a very flashy fight that will end in a bang.
