Preface: Hello, everyone! Yes, I'm finally back! I'm not sure how many of you care, but either way, I'm sorry for the longer-than-expected hiatus. I'm so excited to finally start this next story! This one's mostly just gonna be filler content, however, and will focus more on world-building and expanding character relationships than actually advancing the story. Sorry in advance!

Anyways, this prelude is kind of a one-shot story, but I'm including it here because it introduces a new universe in my stories that probably won't be so necessary in this one, but I included anyway. Anyways, I'm not gonna keep going any longer! Onwards!

CHAOS HAVEN II

Now: Before Sonic's next greatest adventure begins, learn the hidden backstory behind his relationship with one of his newest allies in "The Chaos Crossover!" What starts as an ordinary birthday for Sonic quickly becomes a wild ride when Mobius suddenly becomes merged with another dimension! Can Sonic figure out the secret behind this and make both worlds separate again? And will he have to do it with a...Nintendo character?

Prelude:
The Chaos Crossover

A few weeks has passed since Sonic's first adventure in Whisker Haven. A quiet lull had settled in the kingdom since then, but it has been anything but quiet for the hedgehog. And soon, a new adventure will begin involving one of his uncle's creations.

But before we begin, I feel it is best if I briefly touch upon the first encounter Sonic had with one of his new allies in said adventure.

[BGM: SEGA SOUND TEAM - Theme of "CHAO"]

It all started normally for Sonic. With some help, Tails had thrown him an amazing birthday party in the Green Hill Zone. More extreme twists on classic party games were played, decorations streamed across the trees, and all of Sonic's friends were there. "Thanks again for planning this, bro," said Sonic during a brief relaxing moment during the party.

"You don't have to keep thanking me," said Tails, rubbing the back of his head. "I didn't even put it together myself."

"You still planned it, though," said Sonic, ruffling the fox's hair, "and that's all that matters."

Suddenly, Badniks started raining down into the zone, to everybody's shock. From the skyline, Sonic could see a familiar airship armada approaching. "Crashing my b-day party?" said Sonic, annoyed. "That's tacky, Eggman! I'll handle this!" After that, he sped off to take care of whatever Eggman had been planning that time.

What happened next was initially all a blur for Sonic. All he knew was that he had somehow fallen out of the air and landed face-first, his head buried in the ground.

"Ooooo…" he groaned, pulling himself out. "What happened?" He scanned the area, trying to figure out where he was. He was in some sort of meadow, but it wasn't the Green Hill Zone. This place had odd-looking mountain thingies and more normal, not checkerboard grass. Plus, no one was around him. "Hello?" he called out.

Suddenly, it started coming to him. He infiltrated Eggman's airship and came face-to-face with the doctor when Eggman activated some odd device powered by this weird dark matter. A portal of some type appeared, and everything seemed to begin being sucked in.

He looked to his left and saw an alarming sight. It looked like South Island, but shrunken and floating in mid-air. He also saw Westside Island, Mirage Island (with Little Planet nearby), Angel Island, the odd landmass that had appeared while he was in another dimension (it was called Isolated Island, right?), and Flicky Island, which had all suffered a similar fate.

"Well, there's no time to waste!" he said, tugging his glove. He charged up and began running towards South Island.

[BGM: Turret 3471 - Splash Hill Act 1 [Green Hill Zone RMX] V1.1]

Once he was in a more familiar place, which seemed to be the Green Hill Zone, he heard some buzzing from his hammerspace area. He reached in and realized it was coming from his walkie-talkie. "Hello?" he said, putting it to his ear.

"Sonic!" he heard Tails on the other end. "Thank goodness I reached you! Listen, I think I'm in the Scrap Brain Zone!"

"What are you doin' there?" asked Sonic. As he did so, he curled into a Super Sonic Spin Attack and plowed through a group of some weird orange waddly creatures that had somehow turned up.

"I don't know!" answered Tails. "I think it might have something to do with that portal that sucked in everyone!"

Suddenly, Sonic heard a voice crying for help. "Okay, Scrap Brain Zone! I'll be sure to look there. Gotta go, buddy!" Putting his walkie away, Sonic began to follow the voice to its location. He found it coming from a blue blob thingy with red feet with red stripes, that wore glasses and a pink baseball hat. The creature was bracing itself from being attacked by some Motobugs.

"Get away from him, creeps!" Sonic said, curling into a Spin Attack once more. The Motobugs stood no chance and were crumbled, releasing the Flickies inside. Before he could relax, however, a humanoid figure with a blue jacket and floppy hat started approaching, holding a bomb. "Oh no, you don't!" Sonic shouted, revving up a Spin Dash. The figure vanished as soon as he made impact.

[BGM: End]

"Oh...my…" said the blob. "I can't believe…"

Sonic turned to the blob and held his hand out. "Are you okay, man?" he asked.

"Okay?" said the blob. "I was just saved by Sonic the Hedgehog! I'm your biggest fan!"

"Biggest fan, huh?" said Sonic. "I sure hope you won't criticize everything I do!" He took a closer look. "Say, you don't look like anything on Mobius I've ever seen. Where're you from?"

"Well, I think your world fused with another world, actually," said the blob. "I'm from the in-between dimension of sorts between them."

"Fusion of worlds?" said Sonic. "That sounds weird. Say, I'm looking for someone. Wanna come with?"

The blob looked down. "Nah, I'd just slow you down."

"How can you know if you don't try?" Sonic responded.

The blob looked up, and an odd feeling of confidence came across him. "Okay, I'll come. I'm Jaleel," he introduced himself. "Jaleel Turq."

As he continued his way towards the Scrap Brain Zone, Sonic started to see a little bit of Tails in this Jaleel character. Like Tails, he was a good technician, helping Sonic take care of the odd creatures they encountered, from spiky balls to pink flying things to living mushrooms, with a blaster that could shoot stars. It reminded Sonic of the Wispon thingies he saw in that other dimension. But Jaleel also had some confidence issues - he still seemed reluctant to do all these cool feats and felt like a big loser.

"Okay, Jaleel," said Sonic, once they finally arrived at the Scrap Brain Zone. "Before we go in, I just wanna say I'm proud of you for making it this far."

Jaleel smiled warmly. "Thanks, I'm proud of myself, too. I've never done anything this cool back home."

"And the way you helped with those weird creatures," continued Sonic. "You really gotta stop putting yourself down, man!"

"Yeah, I get that a lot," said Jaleel. Just then, Jaleel noticed a pink blob that looked like himself coming from the other end of the factory and gasped.

Sonic turned around and got into a combat pose. "Okay, whatever you are," he said, "I took care of all your little buddies! I can take care of you, too!"

[BGM: Kirby's Dream Band - Islands]

"Wait, you kidnapped my friends?" responded the blob, catching Sonic by surprise. "I thought you were a good guy, Sonic! Where did you come from anyway? And why do you look and sound so...young?"

Sonic couldn't comprehend what was happening. How did this blob he had never seen before recognize him? Was he confusing Sonic with his counterpart from the other dimension, which was apparently some redesign Sega will put him through in the future?

"Sonic, that's Kirby!" said Jeleel, finally. "He's my favorite Nintendo character!"

"Wait, you're on Nintendo's side?" said Sonic, in shock.

"Can't I like both?" said Jaleel.

"No, you gotta pick a side!" said Sonic.

The pink blob, who seemed to be this Kirby character, chuckled. "Good one, Sonic! You know those silly console wars ended years ago!"

That got Sonic riled up. The console wars would end? Looking at Kirby's smiling face, something told Sonic he could trust him.

"Okay, listen," he said. "I'm the Sonic from another dimension, where the console wars are still going on. I'm not the one you might be familiar with. So sorry for that aggression."

"It's fine," said Kirby. "I've met a lot of people recently who seemed good but turned out bad. But you seem okay. Can you help me find my friends?"

Sonic reluctantly shook Kirby's nubby arm. "Okay, let's do it to it."

[BGM: End]

As the adventure went along, Sonic slowly started to see a genuine ally and friend in Kirby. He had the power to inhale things and spit them out as those star-shaped bullets Jaleel had as ammo. He could also copy their abilities, turning him into a master swordsman, a firebender, or even stone, or maybe have him wield a parasol. With a gulp of air, Kirby could even fly them out of tricky situations. As they saved more and more of each other's friends, found more things from each other's worlds, and even collected the Chaos Emeralds and these 'Star Rod Shards,' Sonic began to realize that maybe Nintendo wasn't such a bad company after all.

[BGM: Kirby's Dream Band - King Dedede]

Eventually, the three of them had Dr. Eggman cornered in his new fortress, manning a weird robot that could shoot strange energy particles. "Well, this is certainly new, Robuttnik!" said Sonic, launching into a Super Sonic Spin Attack.

Kirby inhaled some stars that appeared from the energy particles' shockwaves and spat them at Eggman's contraption. Why does this energy seem so familiar? he couldn't help but wonder.

Jaleel kept shooting more and more stars at the contraption, but they just bounced off. "Would you just cut that out?" gritted Eggman. "It's getting on my nerves!"

Just then, an idea came to Jaleel. He aimed his blaster at Eggman himself and opened fire. Eggman was knocked out and fell to the ground. Sonic and Kirby simultaneously finished the job with a synchronized Spin Attack and star spit.

"Well, you destroyed my Dark Egg," lamented Eggman.

"But I don't understand why you would fuse our worlds together," said Kirby in confusion.

Eggman smiled. "Well, it was all part of efficiency! If me and my newest partner combined our worlds, we could conquer them more easily before splitting them back apart, with all our hard work intact!" He started maniacally laughing. "In fact, why don't you meet my new partner now?"

The black matter began leaking out of the Dark Egg before floating up into the air and taking the shape of a black sphere with a singular eye and orange petal-like orbs around the edge.

[BGM: Kirby: Planet Robobot Soundteam - Replication of Darkness]

"Dark Matter?" said Kirby, his breath being taken away. "But I thought there was no more of you left!"

"Well, I suppose you were wrong!" said Eggman. "And all of your work attacking him was just powering up our secret weapon…"

Eggman stepped through a door, and the roof of the fortress revealed itself as a large, robotic replica of 0, the leader of Dark Matter. The orb floated up and entered the pupil of the robot, completing it and causing it to fly up into the air.

"With this machine, we will spread darkness across both worlds for all of eternity!" shouted Eggman, laughing once more.

Jaleel looked down in despair. "I can't believe this whole time we were just helping Eggman." He sat down and cried. "I never should have come along. You should've just let me behind."

"Don't blame yourself, man," said Sonic. "How were we to know this? And even if we did, you weren't responsible for any of this!"

Kirby looked at the shards of the Star Rod. "But even then, I don't think this can defeat Dark Matter. In the past, I had to use a sword forged from the Rainbow Drops, the Love-Love Stick, and crystal shards, and they worked because of their pure energy."

"Pure energy?" repeated Sonic. "Don't worry, I got just the thing for that!" He took out the Chaos Emeralds and they began to encircle the three. The power of the emeralds went into Sonic, turning his quills yellow and upward, as well as his usually green eyes red. He was now Super Sonic!

As for Kirby, the Star Rod Shards' energy combined with the emeralds' energy, forming the whole Star Rod with added power. Kirby grabbed the rod, and became Star Rod Kirby!

As for Jaleel, the combined power of the emeralds and rod infused his blaster, causing it to flash a multitude of colors. "Incredible!" he said, confidence growing.

"Agreed," said Kirby, gesturing with the Star Rod. "I've never felt this much power with the Star Rod before!"

"C'mon, guys! Everyone's counting on us!" said Sonic. And so, the three shot into the sky, ready to take down the mechanical 0.

It was a rough battle, thanks to the power of the robot. Bullets made of pure darkness fired out of Dark Matter, but the magical projectiles of the Star Rod purified them, allowing Sonic to send them flying back at the robot. Jaleel used his amplified blaster to attack the robot's weak point on its head, allowing Sonic to land direct hits where applicable.

"Hah! Way too easy!" Sonic cried, bouncing off of the contraption. "So much for a final boss!"

Meanwhile, inside, the added hits kept charging up a power meter, to Eggman's delight. "Hohohohoho!" he laughed. "Almost there…" Finally, the meter was full. "You may think you have won," he called out to the heroes outside, "but this will be my victory!"

"What does he mean by that?" Kirby said in fear.

Just then, Dark Matter closed its eye, and then blood came shooting out like a laser, aiming right at them.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" cried Jaleel. He jumped in the way and, without thinking, put every last bit of energy into one final shot. Rather than a star, the bullet came out as a laser that met with the blood in the middle. The blood was overpowered and the light engulfed the entire robot.

[BGM: End]

When he eventually awoke, Sonic found himself back to normal, on the ground. "Sonic!" cried Tails. "You did it! Our worlds are separate again!"

"We did it?" said Kirby.

Jaleel looked at his now-damaged blaster. "I did it," he mumbled. "I saved the universe."

And so, everyone traveled to Mobius, which was a separate world from Kirby's world once more, to finish Sonic's birthday party as a celebration of their victory. "Hey, that was pretty cool of you, landing the final hit," Sonic complimented Jaleel as the party eventually began winding down and everyone returned home.

"And sorry about your blaster," said Kirby, noticing the contraption's current state.

Jaleel looked at it. "Y'know what?" he said. "I can fix it. It's fine."

As Kirby was the last one to leave, Sonic wrote something on a slip of paper and handed it to the blob...no, the puffball. "My phone number," he said, "in case you need me again."

"Really?" said Kirby. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah. You're okay for a Nintendo guy," said Sonic. "But I'm never gonna cross over with the plumber!"

"Oh, you never know," said Kirby. He waved goodbye one last time and set out through one of the portals that had opened. Traveling to his home, Kirby put his nightcap on and crawled into bed, ready for a hero's rest.

As for Sonic, he wasn't sure when he would see Kirby again. But it would definitely be sooner than he thought...

Postface: Well, there we go! That was the prelude to my newest story! The plot is based on a fangame idea I have called Kirby: Chaos Crossover. Before you ask, no, I have no plans to make it real or expand upon this preface's events, but Jaleel will pop up again in the future.

Trivia time! Jaleel is something of an OC of mine. He's basically Kirby with Sonic's colors and glasses. I sort of based him off of the Avatar from Sonic Forces - his blaster is meant as his own version of a Wispon, shooting Kirby's star bullets instead of using Hyper-go-on energy. I also sort of based him off of myself - I too don't think very highly of myself and don't really focus on my victories, although I think I exaggerated that aspect in Jaleel. But he's not a straight-up self-insert. One more aspect from the Avatar: PhantomHeartless55's (shout-out if you're reading this, man!) Forces adaptation, Sonic Forces: Join the Uprising! has the wolf Avatar be named Jason Griffith Howler, so...yes I named Jaleel after Jaleel White! Sue me! The reason why I included Dark Matter, the big bad of Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby's Dream Land 3, and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is because I felt it was pretty interesting to see, plus it gave me an excuse to have my own version of 0! Don't ask why the Star Rod works on it. In the original version of this prelude, I had a small bit where it is stated that the Chaos Emeralds and Star Rod's energies created a set of 'Chaos Rods,' but I deleted it here so people don't think they'd be important. Finally, Jaleel's blaster's Super mode is based on the Final Color Blaster, the final attack in the Wii version of Sonic Colors, where all of the Wisps combine into one so Sonic can land the final hit on the last boss. I went with that to add onto the Wispon inspiration.
