Preface: Welcome! This is where the story truly begins! Things will start off a little slowly, but it'll get a bit more high-stakes quickly! I hope you enjoy this beginning!

SPACEHOG FROM MOBIUS III:
CHAOS HAVEN II

Now: Sonic and Tails "Return to Whisker Haven" as a new adventure begins! An incident has caused Sonic to suddenly regret his actions in the Sonic Forces game - particularly the fact that he inadvertently caused it to happen! But it looks like Tails has something that he thinks he can help him get over it...

Chapter 1:
Return to Whisker Haven

[Current Time: July 13, 199X, 9:06 AM]

For the past few weeks, Tails had his encounter with Ms. Featherbon at the back of his mind. Following the adventure in Whisker Haven, Sultan the tiger cub had ventured through the Warp Zone, and Ms. Featherbon followed him through to retrieve him. Seizing an opportunity, Tails asked her to put a spell on his DeLorean Time Machine model, growing it to the size of the actual one. It worked just as well as the real one, too, despite being made out of cardboard. That inspired Tails to start work on a size changer to replicate that spell.

The size changer was now complete, and Tails was ready to test it. He brought Sonic to his lab to demonstrate it, hoping to get the hedgehog's mind off of his guilt, which had recently caused him to act rather out-of-character.

"Can I take this blindfold off now?" asked Sonic. His eyes were covered with a handkerchief.

"Yep!" said Tails as he finished setting up.

Sonic removed the handkerchief from his eyes and took notice at the size changer. "What is this," he asked, "some kind of portable light switch?"

"Not just any portable light switch!" Tails explained, excitedly. "This puppy can make anything shrink and grow! I've been working on this for weeks. I decided to show you now because...well, you look like you need cheering up."

Sonic nodded. "Yeah, I agree. This guilt's been bugging me for a while."

"I understand you don't wanna talk about it right now," Tails continued, "but maybe this'll take your mind off of it."

Tails placed his DeLorean model on a pedestal. Sonic looked at it and admired it. Tails had been telling him about it for a while, and he was impressed about how well-done it was. He then watched Tails as he pointed the size changer at it and flipped the switch. The antenna on it sent a ray at the model, which grew until it matched the size of the actual one that Uncle Chuck owned.

"Holy sh-!" Sonic stammered out, being careful not to actually swear. He began to inspect the model. It had everything from the actual DeLorean Time Machine, from the time circuits, to the Flux Capacitor. There was even a suitcase with all sorts of era-specific money. "This is way past cool," he complimented. "Does it actually work?"

Tails nodded. "I tested it once before. And I know the perfect place to test it again."

[Location Change: South Island, Peridot Beach Zone]

[Current Time: July 13, 199X, 9:21 AM]

[BGM: Tee Lopes - Sunshine Cassette (Save Select)]

The next thing Sonic knew, they were back at his unoccupied beach house at the Peridot Beach Zone. The seawater smell permeated the area as the waves crashed along the beach.

The two were right in front of the Warp Zone that they used to enter Whisker Haven for the first time. "So, Whisker Haven is an interesting choice," said Sonic. "Out of all places, why here?"

"Well, I kinda wanted to know more about its history," replied Tails. "And let's face it, why look through a book when you can experience it yourself?"

"I like your thinking," said Sonic. At that moment, Wade Whipple, Tom Wachowski's deputy, came out of the police car near the speed trap.

"Oh, hey, Sonic!" he called. "What brings you back here?"

"Well, Wade, we just came back from a huge adventure in outer space where we went to a planet that evolved so rapidly, the citizens saw us as gods," said Sonic, sarcastically.

"OMG," said Wade, not recognizing the sarcasm. "Please tell me more about it."

"No, Wade," said Tails, "we're here for a little experiment of sorts. We did have a cool adventure, but it wasn't what Sonic just said."

"Oh, okay," said Wade. "Well, I gotta get back to filling in for Tom while he's taking care of the power outage. Try not to cause an EMP or something!"

Sonic chuckled and faced the Warp Zone. "Okay, let's try to ot get noticed," he told Tails. "I don't want those guys getting involved." The 'guys' he was referring to were Pumpkin, Treasure, and Sultan, the three inhabitants of Whisker Haven he met during the adventure.

"Good idea," said Tails. With that, the two began charging up speed before entering the Warp Zone, causing a few ripples in place.

[BGM: End]

Wade noticed this event occur. "And Tom says this part of the job's boring," he laughed.

[World Change: Whisker Planet]
[Location Change: Whisker Haven Village]

[Current Time: July 13, ?, 9:25 AM]

[BGM: Whisker Haven Theme Instrumental]

Following its liberation, Whisker Haven had returned to its far more bustling lifestyle. The Palace Pets congregated across the village, as they had fun in their own, royal ways, and the Critterzens performed their own jobs in the shops. It's a wonder nobody noticed Sonic and Tails coming through the Warp Zone. Well, almost nobody...

Sonic skidded to a halt as he exited the Warp Zone, in order to avoid attracting attention. "Huh, what are the odds?" he said. "It's almost like they're just NPCs."

Tails followed him through the Warp Zone. Seriously, how is nobody noticing? Sonic thought as the fox set the model down and activated the size changer once more. "Alright, let's blow this chilli dog stand!" said the fox, as the model once again became the size of the real DeLorean Time Machine. But then something occurred to him. "D'oh!" he grunted as he slapped himself. "I forgot to gather trash for fuel."

"Well, there's gotta be some trash around here!" said Sonic. "C'mon, let's go find a can."

"But first…" Tails took out some kind of remote control with a key dangling from it and pointed it at the DeLorean. A 'click' sound was heard. "Automatic locker," he said. "Don't want Fitch Robotnik or Loudmouth or anyone stealing it while we're gone."

[BGM: End]

Sonic laughed as the two walked away to find trash. But remember when I said that almost nobody saw them? Well, there were two somebodies that saw them. One was a tiger cub, who had already heard of the car. "Oh, wow!" he said. "I've got to show the others!" He then ran off to find some of his friends.

The other somebody was not organic, and had much more sinister intentions. "So they brought the car back here," he said, having followed Sonic and Tails. "This certainly makes my plan slightly easier…"

Next chapter: "When Curiosity Attacks" The Palace Pets make their return, but it's not as grand as it should: they and Ms. Featherbon are stowaways to Sonic and Tails' trip back in time! Not to worry, they won't cause too much of a ruckus and Sonic won't have to call upon the help of a certain pink puff, right?

Postface: Chapter complete! This story's a little shorter than Chaos Haven, so we're getting right into the action! Sonic and Tails are back in Whisker Haven, but already it seems a few have noticed...

Not much trivia to go around, but I will say this: Wade is another character from the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. His bit is just a bit of filler, though.
