Preface: Hello, everyone! First off, I'd like to thank the six of you for the, while minor, support you've given this story so far. It means quite a lot to me. Also, I apologize for Sonic's writing in the prologue; in retrospect, his sudden remembrance of the events of Forces could've used some more setup. With that out of the way, let's get started!

CHAOS HAVEN II
Previously...an incident caused Sonic to be haunted by the guilt he felt over inadvertently causing a war in another dimension. To get his mind off of it, Tails decided to debut his new invention on a model version of the DeLorean Time Machine. They returned to Whisker Haven, believing no one noticed them, and left the car unattended to look for fuel.
Now...Sultan the tiger cub, who did notice the car, goes to tell Treasure and Pumpkin of what he saw.

Chapter 2:
When Curiosity Attacks

When Sultan came up to her and Treasure, yammering about a time machine, Pumpkin was tempted to laugh it off.
"I'm sorry, Sultan, but it doesn't sound true," she said, deciding to remain polite. "I'm not very good at science or magic, but I'm pretty sure magic is the only way time travel can work."
"I'm telling you guys, it's real!" Sultan insisted. "It's a car with these time circuits or whatever that sends you through time when you hit 88 MPH! I can show you right now!"
"I believe you, Sultan," said Treasure. "C'mon, Pumpkin, at least come and see it!"
"Well, okay," said Pumpkin, smiling. She still had her doubts, but she didn't want to disappoint Sultan.

Pumpkin's doubts started to fade when she actually saw the machine. "Oh, my!" she said, covering her open mouth with her paw. "It's amazing!" Since her only experience with automobiles had been in Whisker Haven and she had never seen a DeLorean DMC-12 before, she was particularly amazed.
"What's this thing at the top?" asked Treasure, pointing at the coffee-maker-like tube at the top.
"That's where you put the fuel," explained Sultan. "It's powered by garbage!"
At that moment, the car's doors began to open. Pumpkin gasped. "What's happening?"
"I don't know!" said Sultan. "Hide!" In their panic, all three pets decided to hop into the car and hid in a corner.
Ms. Featherbon, a hummingbird fairy and Whisker Haven's gatekeeper, noticed them entering the car. Oh, dear, she thought, what are they getting into this time? She flew into the car, wondering what they were doing.
This was the first of several mistakes…

"Yuck! Why did I decide to do that?"
In their entire search for trash in Whisker Haven, Sonic and Tails were only able to find a single garbage can on the beach. It wasn't particularly nasty, but Tails was still regretting jumping right into the can.
"Are you sure we can't just get some more from wherever in the past we're going?" asked Sonic, holding back his laughter.
"Better safe than sorry," Tails said, flying out, covered in trash and holding some in his hand. He smiled. "Feeling better?"
"Yeah, a little," said Sonic. The hedgehog's guilt over inadvertently causing a war was slowly fading. "But quick! Hop in the lake and wash up before we're caught!"
After a quick wash, Sonic and Tails walked back to the DeLorean. Tails was able to unlock it before they were in reach of the car with his automatic locker. This is what led to the first mistake…
"So, how far back do you think we should go?" asked Sonic, getting into the driver's seat.
Tails put some of the trash into the Mr. Fusion before hopping in. "The day my parents fell in love should be a good place," he said, buckling in and tossing the rest of the trash into the back.
At the fox's request, Sonic started the car and entered the date November 12, 1955 into the time circuits. He then activated the hover mechanism, causing the wheels to turn on their side, and the car began to hover above the ground. To avoid causing an incident, Sonic began to fly upward until he went just below the clouds. "Ready to go, bro?" he asked Tails.
Tails smiled, happy Sonic was feeling better. "Punch it."

Sonic slammed his foot on the gas...and nothing happened. "Oh, come on!" he shouted, continuing to press the gas pedal, although he kinda expected this, since the machine was a DeLorean. Finally, he got so frustrated he slammed his head on the wheel. The engine started at that moment. "Huh? Hehehehe...yah!" The car properly began to drive.
Just then, a ball of light came out from the back and hit the time circuits, causing them to start glitching. "Damn!" he gritted, slamming the circuits and fixing them. They had reached 67 MPH already. "Tails, mind checking the Flux Capacitor?"
Tails looked back, and the Flux Capacitor seemed fine. But then he noticed something else. Four of the young animals the two met the first time they went to Whisker Haven, including Pumpkin, Treasure, Sultan, and Ms. Featherbon, were hiding in the back. "Sonic, stop the car!" Tails said, turning around. "We've got stowaways!" The car reached 82 MPH.
"What is it?" shouted Sonic. He turned around and saw the same thing Tails saw. "Huh?" He slammed the brakes, but by then, it was too late. The car reached 88 MPH and vanished, leaving only hovering flames in its wake…

[Current Time: November 5, ?, 12:00 PM]
In the past, Whisker Haven looked way more rustic, with a duller color scheme and more simplistic buildings. Even the sky looked gray, but still cheery.
Sonic directed the DeLorean towards the ground, landed it, and opened the doors. "Alright, everyone out!" he ordered. Tails and the stowaways left the car, followed by Sonic. "Now then, what were you doing in there?" he shouted.
Sultan walked up and dipped his head. "I'm sorry," he said, "I got excited when I saw this again and wanted to show the others. This is my fault."
"Yeah, I know how you feel about something being your fault," Sonic responded, his guilt returning. "Wait, whaddya mean 'again'?"
"Oh, yes," said Ms. Featherbon. "Tails here showed this car to me and Sultan a few weeks back."
"Surpiiiise!" said Tails, awkwardly doing jazz hands. "Whatever, the main thing is making sure they're safe before we send them back."
At that moment, they heard an explosion. Rushing back into the car, Sonic noticed that the Flux Capacitor had somehow exploded. "Hey, how did this happen?"
"Oh, my dearest me!" said Ms. Featherbon. "I'm so sorry! I was so shocked from the movement, some of my magic hit those time readouts. I suppose it must have also affected the capacitor."
Sonic didn't want to swear, but he was also beyond frustrated. And so, he dug his head into the ground and screamed so loud, it's a wonder his voice was fine afterwards.
"Well, I guess that's something to note," said Tails. "Magic causes a gigawatt overload."
"Please, can we focus on what's happening now?" asked Pumpkin. "We're stranded in the past!"
After digging out of the ground, Sonic searched his hammerspace area and found his phone. He turned it on and noticed that it was at low battery. "Rats! Only enough charge for one phone call!"
"Don't bother with Chuck," said Tails. "Remember that teleportation feature I added to the Tornado a while back? We're about to start the next part of it, and he had to cancel his phone bill to finance it."
"Meowsers!" said Treasure, frustrated.
"I can use this though." Tails took out a small wind-up car. "This little guy has a container for a serum made from Little Planet's flowers, so it can time travel without all that wiring. But I do need some electricity so I can actually power it."
"And I don't think electricity has been invented yet," said Sultan.
And then Sonic had an idea. A stupid idea. A bringing-someone-who-doesn't-belong-into-this-story idea…

The sun was in the middle of the sky in Dream Land. The clouds seemed incredibly drowsy, which made sense - the Dream Landers were beginning to wake up from their after-lunch nap.
Kirby sat up and stretched. He had an absolutely wonderful dream, where he was traveling through the entire multiverse on his Warp Star. He was still a little drowsy, but the sound of his phone woke him up. "Hello?" he said, picking up.
"Ah, Kirby," he heard on the other line. "I don't have much time, but me and Tails are in a situation, and we need your help."
"Oh, is this the alternate Sonic I met a few weeks ago?" asked Kirby.
"Correct," said Sonic. "Now, here's what Tails calls our 'five-dimensional coordinates'..."
Shortly afterwards, Kirby was out on the hill, riding his Warp Star. He began to fly all the way up into the sky. Taking out the speedometer he had on him, he watched as he reached 85, 86, 87, 88 MPH. When he reached that speed, he entered an odd vortex made of glitchy blue particles. Following the directions he was told, he traveled through the vortex for a while before making a turn and bursting out of the vortex.

[Location Change: Whisker Haven Village Outskirts]
[Current Time: November 5, ?, 12:03 PM]
Kirby found himself in a rather cheery-looking world, but it had a grey sky. He began flying until he noticed Sonic and Tails on the ground alongside what looked to be a DeLorean and some non-anthropomorphic animals. He directed his Warp Star towards the ground, but its delicacy caused him to shoot towards the ground before the star broke upon impact and leaving him to slide face-first to the others. He lifted himself up and noticed the crowns the poodle and kitten were wearing. "Well, this is embarrassing," he said aloud, picking himself up.
"Well, good to see you, Kirb," said Sonic. "This here's Pumpkin, Treasure, and Sultan. They're the pets of some Disney characters or whatever. And the hummingbird's Ms. Featherbon. She's a fairy."
"Charmed," said Kirby. "So, what help do you need?"
"We're looking for some electricity so we can send Sonic's uncle a message," said Treasure.
"Electricity, huh?" said Kirby. "Oh! I can copy the Spark ability if we can find some sparks! They don't even need to be electrical!"
"'Copy the Spark ability?'" repeated Sultan. "What does that mean?"
"We'll explain later," said Sonic. "For now, let's head into the village and see if we can find sparks somehow."
"Oh, don't worry," said Ms. Featherbon, beginning to fly towards the village. "I've been in Whisker Haven since its creation! I know it like the back of my wing!"
"Well, what are we waiting for?" said Tails. "As Sonic says, let's do it to it!"
Unfortunately, as soon as the party left, an unseen stowaway emerged from his hiding spot. He quietly replaced the Flux Capacitor, went into the driver's seat, set the date for June 10, 199X, and drove away. When he returned, he parked the car in its previous spot, put the damaged Flux Capacitor in its old place, and chuckled. "My plan is working perfectly!" Then, he noticed he was fading from existence. "Huh? This can't be happening! What did I do wrong? What's happeni-"

Next chapter: In order to get they and their friends back to the present, Sonic and Tails are gonna have to get a little "Ec-static-al!" Now that Kirby has joined the party, they and the Palace Pets are gonna need whatever source of electricity to help him receive the Spark Copy Ability! But it doesn't seem like there's many spots...are they trapped in the past forever, once more?
Postface: Were the characters idiots at the beginning of this chapter? Yes, yes they were. Was there any point in bringing in Kirby? No, no there wasn't. Does this make me a crappy writer? Probably, it probably does.
There's not a lot of trivia to go around, but I do want to touch upon how the Flux Capacitor broke as a side effect of Ms. Featherbon's magic - I decided to expand upon the relation her magic has with the time travel abilities from the original version of this story, and having it be a belated side-effect seemed smarter than just doing it straight-up. And the little wind-up car thingy Tails has is based on a similar thing in the Back to the Future: The Animated Series episode "Witchcraft" that Doc used to alert Marty to bring a spare capacitor. Also, does the ending remind you of a certain deleted scene from BttF: Part II...?
