Preface: Hello again! Apologies for the small delay - if all goes well, I shouldn't have any more problems going forward, so the postface is as good of a time as any to announce my next project! SPACEHOG FROM MOBIUS III:
CHAOS HAVEN II

Previously...an impromptu trip to the past of Whisker Haven thanks to guilt Sonic felt over a previous incident resulted in him, Tails, the Palace Pets, and Ms. Featherbon trapped. With the help of Sonic and Tails' new ally Kirby, they were able to contact Uncle Chuck and return to the present, but it had somehow completely changed.

Now...the heroes plan to regroup and figure out the mystery behind this sudden change.

Ms. Featherbon - Anne Halli: Hummingbird fairy. Gatekeeper of Whisker Haven.

Chapter 4:
Breaking the Fortress

The smell of manure filled the DeLorean as it fell apart. Sonic stayed in there for a couple of minutes, trying to process what had happened. Because of him focusing too much on his guilt over causing that war in another dimension, Tails made his model DeLorean grow to cheer him up. They took it to Whisker Haven, where they found some stowaways, and then when they came back to the present in Uncle Chuck's DeLorean, the place looked like Dr. Eggman had taken over.

"Alright, enough sitting in this filth," he eventually said. "C'mon, everyone out!"

Everyone began to climb out of the car, avoiding getting the manure on themselves. "So this is what Whisker Haven looks like in the present?" asked Kirby. "I was expecting something more cheerful."

"Well, usually it is much prettier," said Treasure.

"But we must have done something that caused history to skew into this alternate timeline!" continued Chuck.

Tails inspected the car. "Man, I sure am glad that's not mine," he said. "It looks completely totalled."

"Well, it seems with this more futuristic technology," said Chuck, "repairs shouldn't take that long, even without my share of the family fortune and perhaps a run-in with some dingoes."

"In the meantime," said Ms. Featherbon, flying towards the north, "we must inspect that fortress that has taken the Pawlace's place! We have no time at all!"

"Give us a call when you're finished, Unc," Sonic told Chuck. And with that, he, Tails, Kirby, and the Palace Pets started their way towards the mysterious fortress.

Unfortunately, a mysterious figure was watching them. "Unleash the mainline forces once they enter," it directed to another figure. "We shall give them a false sense of security. And activate the magic drainer. We can't let that hummingbird help them..."

[BGM: End]

[Location Change: Neo Pawlace, Entrance]

"C'mon! Knock over!" Sultan was attempting to knock down the door to the fortress. However, despite his rapid punches, his little paws were no match for the bulky door.

The heroes were mysteriously not disturbed at all while they made their way towards the metallic fortress. They shrugged it off for the time being, but they figured they would have to battle something sooner or later…

"Well, there's no way we can knock it down," said Tails. "At least without Ms. Featherbon's magic."

"I could try," said the hummingbird fairy, "but oddly, I feel...drained, in a way."

Sonic took worry at this. Was this a clue that she was beginning to fade from existence? Or was this a clue at something else?

Suddenly, an egg-like Badnik fell from the sky, wielding a hammer. "Woah! Talk about an ambush!" cried Treasure.

[BGM: Akira Miyagawa - Special Ability is Inhaled!]

Suddenly, Kirby got an idea. "Hang on! I got this!" Once again, he took a deep breath and did a run in place. Then, he leapt forward and opened his mouth, beginning to inhale the Badnik before it could even swing once. When Kirby swallowed, a coiled headband appeared around his head, then he cycled between different tools before settling on a big wooden hammer with star markings.

He was now Hammer Kirby!

"Wow! Now that's a game-changer!" said Sultan.

Kirby turned towards the door and swung the hammer with all his might, sending it flying into the fortress and across the room. With the fortress door now gone, several SWATBots, which were Badniks Dr. Eggman used in larger invasions, stood before them.

[BGM: Tee Lopes - Havoc Prognosis]

"Well, looks like we have company!" said Sonic, stepping inside. "Let's have a bot break bash!"

Everyone began charging at the SWATBots. Dodging the arm cannons, Sonic and Tails simultaneously performed a Super Sonic Spin Attack, creating an even more powerful combo. Treasure and Sultan performed their own synchronized takedown, where one of them pounced on a SWATBot and the other scratched it really hard. When the wiring was finally exposed, they both dug in and pulled it out. Finally, Kirby used his mighty hammer to defeat a good portion of the remaining SWATBots.

Meanwhile, Pumpkin and Ms. Featherbon were at a loss about what to do. "Everyone seems to already be doing a good job," noted the puppy. "I just can't find a place to jump in."

"And I'm still feeling drained of my magic somehow," said Ms. Featherbon.

"Well, we'll take all the help we can get!" called Kirby.

"Yeah!" agreed Sonic. "These guys are weaker than the ones in our first visit, but still seem tougher than usual!"

As Ms. Featherbon thought, she felt a droplet of water drip on her head. Looking up, she noticed a leaking water pipe. "Hmm, if I can get you up there, Pumpkin," she thought aloud, "you might be able to pull that pipe loose and flush these robots outside.

"Yeah! That might do it!" said Pumpkin.

Ms. Featherbon began flapping hard, and Pumpkin grabbed onto her talons. Gritting, the hummingbird fairy struggled to fly the puppy up to the pipe while dodging stray shots from the SWATBots. When Ms. Featherbon got close enough, Pumpkin jumped off, doing a pirouette, and grabbed onto the pipe with her forepaws.

"Okay, let's see here…" she said. She swung her back paws on the loose end of the pipe and tugged. The pipe broke off and the water began flooding out. The SWATBots were disabled and were sent flowing outside.

"Woo! Way to go, Pumpkin!" cheered Sultan.

"Thanks! Now, can someone please catch me?" It took everyone a moment to realize that Pumpkin had let go from the shock.

"I'll catch you!" cried Kirby. He took in a huge gulp of air, causing him to inflate from his small size. He began flapping his arms and positioned himself under Pumpkin's falling body. The puppy landed on him and stayed there until the water finished flowing out, after which she hopped off and performed a ballerina twirl.

[BGM: End]

"That was awesome, Pumpkin!" said Sonic. "You definitely have a bit of a fighter in you, even if you're not on the battlefield!"

Pumpkin bowed. "Well, I can't take all of the credit," she said, gesturing towards Ms. Featherbon.

"Alright, how that that's taken care of, I was thinking…" Before Kirby could finish, however, the entire gang was suddenly zapped by a huge blast of some odd substance. All but Ms. Featherbon fell to the floor.

"That was odd," she thought aloud. "I think I felt a small bit of my magic return." But then she noticed the others' unconscious bodies. "Oh, my dearest me!"

A strange robot that also seemed to resemble a hummingbird appeared and surrounded the gang with a laser, proceeding to carry them somewhere. Ms. Featherbon hid behind a wall and witnessed this happen.

As she began to follow the robot, she had several questions. For one, why did that robot seem familiar? Where was it taking them? What was the mystery surrounding her drainage of magic? And as she looked at her wing, she had a new question: why was it starting to fade away?

Next chapter: "Bionic Borstal Burst!" The heroes are captured, and Ms. Featherbon is in trouble! With her magic somehow vanished and her beginning to fade from existence, everyone must hurry if they want to make it to see the timeline restored! But first - will Sonic have to come clean?

Postface: How was that for the first half of part two? The impacts have been more established, and Ms. Featherbon is starting to vanish! This will set the course of the rest of the story.

Trivia time! I originally titled this chapter "Sonic Comes Clean Without Soap", as when the subplot of this story was about Sonic being scared of Tails swearing, it ended with the characters in the cell and Sonic confessing, as you'll see next chapter. But in the meantime, what is up with that mysterious figure? They took away Ms. Featherbon's magic, but how does Metal Sonic fold into it? Finally, the reason why I had the Palace Pets be involved in the fighting is because I felt like they were just tagalong characters km the original version and I wanted them to, y'know, do something!

Anyways, here's my next project: Minecraft Maniacs RPG! A vast, fifty-eight chapter story split into several story arcs and sagas! This one's gonna take the rest of my planned career here on , so I hope you enjoy it, even if it comes off as formulaic.
