After a few minutes of silence Rick started to talk with Morty joking around while also giving him the rundown of what exactly Ricks and Mortys do along with the multiverse and portal gun technology along with explaining the citadel of ricks where they would be staying and all the dos and don'ts of leaders and sidekick respectively.
Before they could head on down to the citadel and give morty a proper tour along with some obligatory exploring rick had to make a quick stop to deliver some micro planets to a gem like planet where rick explained that they would then grow to normal size and then use them to suck out all the resources and reproduce new gems so they wouldn't have to colonize and subsequently destroy already existing planets. Ricks only rule for morty was to leave him to his business and not disturb him or the diamonds while they conducted the trade other than that he was free to explore and annoy anyone else to his hearts content. Rick will find him when he's ready to go and he had to wait till they went to the citadel to eat or use the bathroom because gems as they were well gems did not use either of those so just wait. And that was that.
When they landed and rick greeted the pearl who was there to lead Rick to the Palenque where the meeting would take place. He noticed that while Mortys eyes where clearly soaking up everything they could and he was bursting with curiosity and questions galore he held his tongue and was quiet surprising rick. Most Mortys immediately disregarded any rules and orders he said as soon as they landed but this morty this morty was different. Quiet but not in a meek or submissive way like a lot of Mortys are no it was more like he was holding his cards till the last minute biding his time till he could attack and cause chaos. hmmm he better watch this one after all a cocky morty leads to big problems as president morty in his opinion was turning the citadel into a hell hole. Of course he couldn't prove anything yet but the nagging feeling in his chest wouldn't go away.
The trade went smoothly the gems got their planet and rick got titanium dioxide 472 and even though morty didn't talk ricks ear off about how happy he was his smile and light in his eyes along with the stuffed notebook filled with drawings and notes about the gems and the annoyed peridot and pearl who he had probably made them wish they could retreat into there gems for a reprise from the small boy it was clear he had a good time and as Rick looked at his companion he knew this was going to be an incredible partnership.
