Chapter 2
Tit tit tit the sound of the familiar awakening pulls her from her dream. She's been at Harvard for 3 weeks. And it's fantastic, the classes are interesting, she loves her subjects but most of all she loves the classes she has in common with Harvey, they are the best. They have literature and economics together as well as the ethics course. They are side by side in ethics and literature. She loves being with him he made her laugh, smile, he's smart and amazingly handsome. They often hang out together. She loves being close to him but she is scared so she has never felt what she feels for him it is more intense stronger more exciting. And it's scary how much she cares about him. And she remembers what she did yesterday and her head falls back on the pillow as she knows she made one of the biggest mistakes of her life.

Harvey hears his awakening with a distracted ear, then he realizes that he is starting his 4th week of class at Harvard and that he has to go to work at the library with Donna because they have to go do their homework while Rachel Mike Katrina Louis and the others have to go see the professor of criminal law. He no longer lives in his small shared room with Mike because they met Travis a boy in their class who had a 3 bedroom apartment to share and the three of them pay the rent, Mike Travis and him. He spends as little time as possible because Mike is in a relationship with Jenny and when they are there during the day it ends up making too much noise and Travis goes out with Samantha.
He gets up decided to go get ready he goes to the bathroom when his phone starts ringing surprised it's Donna
- «Hey Harv»
- «Hey Donna how are you» yawning
- «I see someone is tired» she is laughing
- «I worked late last night»
- «I see it» says «there is a change of plan»
- «Is that so ?» He is surprised and worried he really wants to see Donna today he had a great achievement last night and that's why he slept badly.
- «Yes I can't go to the library today»
- «Oh» he doesn't know what else to say
- «But you can come to my apartment» she shyly suggests
- «Yes why not. Same time as usual?»
- «Of course ! See you later Harvey»
- «bye Donna»
He's invigorated he knows what he wants and he wants more with Donna. He doesn't know exactly how he feels about her, but he knows he's never felt that way for anyone. When he sees her his heart is racing, they hugged each other the other day and he swears she could feel his heart pounding hard against his chest. He wanted to kiss her so badly. He's decided he needs to try with Donna because after all she might be the right one.
He walks into the bathroom with a determined step.

We knock on the door. It's him.
- «Come in» she cry
- «Hi Redhead» he goes back to his room.
It's the first time he's been there, there is a large bed with soft plaid and cushions, a desk, a large wardrobe, a huge window that overlooks Harvard Park and a soft rug on the floor. which is Donna looking at a pile of leaves on the floor.

He sits next to her on the carpet

They've been working for at least 40 minutes when they start laughing. Harvey has fun drawing on Donna's sheet of paper and scribbling little lines on her arm.
- «Harvey! You're gonna pay for it» she grabs a marker and makes a big sweat mark on her cheek
- «Paulsen!» He grabs a felt-tip pen and is about to do the same but she ducks and he falls on the mat and pulls her with him. They are lying side by side on the ground, they are panting and look each other in the eyes. Harvey pulls his head closer to Donna and prepares to kiss her when
- «I can't Harvey» she pushes him away and gets up
- «You can't or you don't want» to he says sad getting up
- «I can't»
- «Why ?» What is she hiding from him
- «I am in a relationship with Stephen»
- «What?» He said in a strangled voice.
«Why didn't you tell me» he said in a sad voice.
- «I could not»
- «Well you should have told me before I did something stupid»
This time her voice is not only sad it is cold and harsh and she jumps at the brutality of his words.
- «I'm sorry Harvey»
- «Yeah it's a little late for that» his voice is harsh and he hides his sadness as best he can. Donna is on the verge of crying she knows she shouldn't have done this: date Stephen because she's afraid of how she feels about Harvey.
- «Harvey» she moans
He doesn't listen and just grabs his things and leaves the room she follows him
- «Harvey doesn't go» she tries to grab his arm, but he breaks free and walks out of the apartment.
On his way out he meets Rachel Scottie and Mike
- «hey Harvey» greets Rachel
He does not answer and goes towards the exit of the dormitories
- «It's not a good sign» said Mike before running off to catch up with his best friend.
Meanwhile Scottie joined a collapsed and crying Donna on her bed. But what did she do!

It's been a week, a week since that horrible moment since he learned that Donna was dating Stephen. But he hasn't dreamed he knows there is something between them. He hasn't spoken to her since that day. He skipped the lessons he had in common with her, which earned him severe reprimands from his father. Mike understands he is in pain and he thrusts the knife into the wound, he leaves leaving Harvey alone. As he leaves he meets Travis and Samantha rolling a shovel in the hallway. He passes them and goes to find Jenny.
This hour of class is going to be the worst in the universe

- «Come on Donna have to go we're gonna be late» Scottie cry behind their bathroom door.
- «I arrive»
She comes out dressed in a white sweater, ankle boots, gray jeans, her straight wavy hair and the pretty bracelets Harvey bought her when she lost hers in gym.
- «Oh no Donna you cried again it shows».
Scottie grabs a handkerchief to dab his eyes.
- «Ah, it's better, you'll see it will work out.»
- «Don't worry» Rachel said.
She really hopes that all will be well. She saw that he had avoided her and skipped all the lessons they had in common and it was painful. She had done this to protect them but it only seemed to push them away and hurt them more. She knew that when Stephen kissed her she imagined Harvey and that in her worst nightmares she saw Harvey with aching eyes as she pushed him away.
Rachel Scottie and Donna entered the room along with Mike Travis and Harvey. Harvey makes his way without a hello.
- «Hey hi Harv» but she interrupts when she sees him sit down and take out her things.She sits next to Rachel who is chatting with her boyfriend Logan all eyeing Mike and Jenny, Donna suspects Rachel is falling for Mike.
- «Hello young people so today we are going to do some chores, find you a partner.»
All the students move around to find their pairs and Donna walks up to Harvey.
- «Hello so we get together for this job?» She proposes hoping for a positive response
- «You shouldn't hang out with your boyfriend» he said curtly gesturing towards Stephen
- «Well you've always been my partner, my accomplice» she smiles
- «Ah yeah it's been a long time ago»
And a stab from the heart one! Harvey: 1 Donna: 0.
- «Good go join him» he gets up to make way for Stephen
- «But Harvey and if I wanna join you on this job.»
- «It may be me who doesn't want to this time» it stings and it hurts very badly.
Harvey: 2, Donna: 0
She sees Harvey go and sit next to Zoey, she flirts and she sees him smile and flirt back. She turns around giving Stephen a fake smile.
She really wanted to reconcile with him and apparently he considered that they had never been friends.
But deep down she knows he is right there was never any talk of friendship between them.

October a month she usually adores colorful leaves, the smell of rain, colors, chimney fires, Halloween. But this year it's not the same but it really does feel in the Halloween spirit. Because she is playing a role, she is sad but she acts as if things are going well. Harvey is in a relationship, he is dating Zoey. She's jealous, more jealous than she ever was and she hates it. Zoey is cold Harvey hands her her sweater, Zoey wants Harvey churros and they're going to buy churros, Harvey and Zoey share milkshakes in the cafeteria, Harvey who kisses Zoey passionately when she has to go home or even worse Harvey and Zoey who spend the night together. She hurts, she knows she hurt, but now it's worse he doesn't talk to her anymore he spends all his time with Zoey. She knows she shouldn't be jealous she's with Stephen and it's cool but she knows she's not in love with him, but at the same time it's okay love is something complex.
Tonight is Halloween night she's going with Stephen she decided to dress as Hermione Granger and Stephen as Harry Potter she chose a sexier outfit because she finds Hermione too wise. She's getting ready to get dressed in 3 hours it's party time! She hopes things go well and that she can talk to Harvey.

7 p.m., October 31, 1999 Halloween night
Harvey walks into the room for the evening Zoey on his arm he is disguised as Batman and she as Batgirl. Mike dressed as Robin which makes him laugh because Mike considers himself his sidekick.
The opening song isn't bad and Zoey leads him to the dance floor, he dances laughing forgetting the problems of his last days. But it only lasts a few minutes because he sees her. On Stephen's arm in a black skirt shorter than Hermione would have tolerated and a sexy Gryfondor-colored low-cut sweater. She looks gorgeous even with her tousled hair. But he's not his date there is Huntley in a ridiculous Harry Potter costume with his fake scar and glasses, he sees them moving around the dance floor. The music changes it's a slow he doesn't like to admit it but he loves this song it's I Will always love you by Whitney Houston. He grabs Zoey by the waist but his heart isn't there he doesn't even look her in her eyes. His gaze turned to Donna and Stephen she laughs because Stephen is a bad dancer and then he leans and kisses her, he is suddenly nauseous but tries not to show it his heart sinks and to forget the pain he kisses Zoey which makes her happy because at the end of the kiss she feels better because she had noticed he was weird. He hoped the kiss would relieve him, but it had the opposite effect. It's getting worse.

Donna walks into the room with Stephen; she's not a fan of her boyfriend's costume but that's okay. He led her to the dance floor for a slow. She loves this song they sway to the beat and she feels in a good mood the song and its meaning filling her mind. She knows she can never forget how she feels for Harvey. Besides, where is he? She sets off in search of him finding him a few feet away dancing with Zoey he looked at her tenderly the same way he looked at her before. She looks away for fear of crying. Then his thoughts are interrupted as Stephen kisses him. He kisses well but she feels empty and selfish because she knows she wants Harvey to kiss her to touch her body at night. Besides even if she sleeps with Stephen she doesn't feel the spark it's nice but she knows it's not fair to him and her.
The kiss ends and when she turns her head back to Harvey he and Zoey kiss and he looks happy. Except she's not. She knows that no matter how much time passes she will not forget Harvey she could never forget him ... but she could count the number of times her heart aches.

He's fed up. Tired of seeing Donna dance with that silly asshole. He hates it. He hates to see her happy with him. He also hates himself for doing this to Zoey: thinking about putting his arms around Donna and kissing her without caring about anything or anyone. He sees her spinning in his arms during a frenzied rock, her red hair floating in the warm air of the room. Another fucking kiss is too much he goes off the track under the surprised gaze of his girlfriend and explains to her that he is tired and that he is going home
He walks to the door and grabs his jacket.
Donna on the track sees him go and drops Stephen to catch up with him.

Harvey exits. Why is he leaving? He looks angry she saw his look of pain. She can't let him go like this.
Her heart carries her to him, she catches up with him before he leaves the party.
- «Hey Harvey where are you going?» She keeps a detached tone
- «I'm leaving» he answers by continuing his rush towards the exit
- «But you love parties like this. Did something happen?» She asks catching up
- «Back to the party Donna»
- «I won't go back to the party until you tell me what's going on.»
- «Donna let me please»
- «Harvey what's your problem in the end» she gets angry
- «Go back and have fun with your asshole boyfriend and fuck me, peace okay?»
- «What?» He goes back to the exit
- «What's your problem with Stephen?»
- «You deserve better» he simply says
