One morning in Central City at the mall, some humans were going about their business, when suddenly, the music that was playing on the radio stopped, and in its place was some strange DJ music, which caused the humans to go into a trance of some sort.
"Must dig for AllSpark", the humans said.
The humans stopped what they were doing and walked out of the mall in a zombie-like manner, chanting the phrase they had just said, and a familiar voice appeared over the radio.
"That was the latest chart topper here at K-Con by our very own, DJ SW", the voice said.
The voice belonged to Shadow Striker, who was being broadcast from a makeshift radio station that was set up just outside the city.
"And now, we're going to put the song on loop for you", Shadow Striker said, "since we knew you'd all dig it."
Shadow Striker signaled to Soundwave, who was connected to a device that was transmitting to all the radios in the city, and he began playing the song again, and elsewhere at the Ark, Wheeljack was making some kind of adjustments to the Autobot Jazz, during which the latter told a joke.
"And then I said 'now that's what I call a bazooka' ", Jazz said.
Jazz laughed at his own joke, and Wheeljack laughed as well.
"Oh man, Jazz", Wheeljack said, "you sure tell the funniest jokes."
"Thanks, Wheeljack", Jazz said.
It was at that moment that Wheeljack finished with the modifications.
"There we go", Wheeljack said, "you new speakers are all set up."
"Let's put them to the test", Jazz said.
Jazz activated his speakers, which appeared on his shoulders, and music played on them.
"Aw yeah, that's the stuff", Jazz said, "thanks for the help."
Wheeljack had his hands over his ears due to how loud the music was.
"Anytime", Wheeljack said, "now, could you please move along so I can get back to other things?"
"Sure thing, man", Jazz said.
In the halls of the Ark, many Autobots were walking along, when they heard a noise.
"You hear that", an Autobot asked.
"Yeah", another Autobot said, "what is it?"
Then, Jazz drove down the hall in his sports car mode, speakers blaring, causing the Autobots to cover their ears.
"Make way", Jazz said, "super cool Autobot coming through."
In the medical bay, Ratchet was treating a patient when Jazz drove past, and the vibrations of his speakers caused a piece of equipment to fall from the table and break upon hitting the ground.
"Dang it, Jazz", Ratchet said, "I needed that!"
In the Ark's armory, Prowl was inspecting a weapon, and when Jazz drove by, the music on his speakers caused the police-bot to accidentally fire the weapon, resulting in the shot ricocheting all over the room, prompting him to take cover behind some crates.
"Darn it, Jazz", Prowl said, "that bot's love of music is gonna get us all deactivated one day."
In the supply hangar, Rack'n'Ruin were stacking up some crates, and when Jazz passed by, the vibrations caused by his speakers caused the stack to fall over onto the two-headed bot.
"Oh for crying", Rack said.
"Out loud", Ruin said.
All the Autobots on board the Ark had all had just about enough of Jazz's music, and Optimus tried to put a stop to it.
"Jazz, decrease volume", Optimus said.
Jazz didn't respond and continued driving along.
"Jazz, shut up", Optimus said.
Bumblebee ran past Optimus.
"I got this", Bumblebee said.
Bumblebee activated his stinger and used it on Jazz, paralyzing him, and subsequently stopping his music.
"Finally", Bumblebee said.
"Thank the Primes", Optimus said, "I thought it would never end."
"I don't know what you guys are complaining about", Hot Rod said, "those were some sweet tunes."
When the effects of Bumblebee's stinger wore off, Jazz transformed into robot mode.
"What gives, you guys", Jazz asked, "I was just playing some music on my new speakers."
"We could tell", Bumblebee said.
"My audio receptors will be ringing for months", Grimlock said.
"Oh, was I playing my music too loud", Jazz asked.
"Way too loud", Bumblebee said.
"Sorry, guys", Jazz said, "I guess I was too into it to notice."
"So I see", Optimus said.
"I'll just go and rock out to my jam somewhere else", Jazz said.
"Yes, please do", Optimus said.
Jazz transformed into vehicle mode and drove away, leaving the Autobots very relieved.
"Finally", Bumblebee said, "peace and quiet at last."
Meanwhile, some humans were digging in the woods using shovels and pick axes while being monitored by Thundercracker as Soundwave's music played on radios set up in the area, as were two other groups that were being monitored by Nova Storm and Slipstream, the latter of which reported back to Megatron, who was back at the Nemesis.
"Soundwave's plan is working", Slipstream said, "the humans are hard at work digging for the AllSpark."
"Excellent", Megatron said, "make sure the influence of Soundwave's music does not wear off."
"Yes sir", Slipstream said.
The call ended, and Megatron turned to Soundwave.
"I must admit Soundwave, I had my doubts about your idea", Megatron said, "but it seems to be working out perfectly."
"Music can have hypnotizing effects on individuals", Soundwave said, "especially when it's music that's modified to control the minds of primitive, organic creatures such as the humans."
"Yes", Megatron said, "and with their help, the AllSpark will be ours."
"And the Autobots won't be able to stand up to us because we'll have the humans under our control", Soundwave said.
"Indeed", Megatron said, "victory is within our grasp."
Meanwhile, Hot Rod was driving down a nature path in vehicle mode, when he noticed something peculiar.
"Hey", Hot Rod said, "what's going on over there?"
Hot Rod stopped and transformed into robot mode, and walked over to the sight of Slipstream's group of humans who were digging in the ground.
"What are the humans doing with that Decepti-witch", Hot Rod asked.
Slipstream looked up and noticed Hot Rod.
"Hey", Slipstream shouted.
"Oh scrud", Hot Rod said.
Hot Rod transformed into vehicle mode and quickly drove away, but Slipstream transformed into jet mode and took off after him, and proceeded to fire shots at the daring hero, until he managed to take cover in a nearby cave, and waited for her to give up and fly away.
"Man, that was close", Hot Rod said, "I better go back and tell Optimus about this."
Hot Rod wasted no time in racing back to the Ark, where he told Optimus about what he had seen
"Are you sure of this, Hot Rod", Optimus asked.
"Yes", Hot Rod said, "those humans were digging for the Decepticons."
"What could they have been digging for", Windblade asked.
"The AllSpark, most likely", Optimus said, "it is possible that Megatron managed to capture some humans and make them slaves in some sort of plan to find it."
"But how cold he have done it so easily", Bumblebee asked.
Hot Rod thought for a moment, and then it hit him.
"That's it", Hot Rod said, "they weren't doing it willingly."
"What do you mean", Bumblebee asked.
"He must've hypnotized them into doing whatever he wants them to do", Hot Rod said.
"Hypnotizing earthlings", Grimlock asked, "that's low, even for Megatron."
"But how did he do it", Optimus asked.
"I may be able to answer that", Teletraan-X said, "footage captured by a sky spy drone that was in the air earlier today shows that this strange behavior began after this song was played on the radio."
Teletraan-X played the song Soundwave was playing over the radio earlier across the ship.
"And let's flash back to a past battle with the Decepticons", Teletraan-X said.
Teletraan-X pulled up footage of Soundwave playing the same song as he punched aside two generic Autobots who tried to attack him.
"Soundwave", Optimus said, "I should've known this would be his doing."
"How do we stop this", Bumblebee asked.
"I have managed to track down the area from which the song was broadcast", Teletraan-X said, "perhaps if you stop Soundwave's music, the humans will snap out of their trances."
"Perhaps", Bumblebee asked, "are you even sure it'll work?"
"No", Teletraan-X said, "I am just hypothesizing."
"If we want any chance of freeing the humans from Soundwave's control, we must try whatever we can", Optimus said, "Teletraan-X, where is the broadcast coming from."
Teletraan-X proceeded to pull it up on a computer screen.
"Right here", Teletraan-X said.
"Very good", Optimus said, "Autobots, roll out!"
Optimus, Bumblebee, Windblade, Grimlock, and Hot Rod left the Ark and wasted no time in hurrying over to Soundwave and Shadow Striker's radio station, where another broadcast was in progress.
"That's right, we know you all love our number one hit", Shadow Striker said, "so until the AllSpark is found, it's going on infinite loop."
"I don't think so", a familiar voice said.
Shadow Striker and Soundwave looked and saw Optimus and his Autobots at the entrance of the station.
"Autobots", Soundwave said.
"That's right", Bumblebee said, "we're here to take your show off the air."
"Not if we have anything to say about it", Shadow Striker said.
Shadow Striker pulled out her kukri and ran towards the Autobots, but Windblade jumped in front of her with her Stormfall sword, and the two femmes engaged in a duel, while Optimus and the others advanced towards Soundwave, but the male Decepticon created a sonic blast that blasted the Autobots back, and although all seemed lost, Grimlock transformed into his T-rex mode and overcame the waves of sound to knock Soundwave back with his tail, causing him to hit the wall, and Windblade managed to knock Shadow Striker's kukri out of her hand, after which Bumblebee grabbed it and drove it into Soundwave's shoulder speaker, causing him great pain.
"I am injured", Soundwave said.
Shadow Striker noticed this and ran over to her friend.
"This isn't over", Shadow Striker said.
Shadow Striker dragged Soundwave away, and the Autobots took a moment to celebrate.
"We did it", Bumblebee said.
"Yes, we did", Optimus said, "now we must make sure the humans are free."
Optimus and the other Autobots went over to one of the enslaved groups of humans and hid behind some rocks in case there were any Seekers on guard, and were very confused to find that they were still enslaved.
"I don't get it", Bumblebee said, "we put Soundwave out of commission, didn't we?"
"Yes", Hot Rod said, "so why aren't the humans free?"
"Teletraan-X did mention that stopping Soundwave might not work", Windblade said.
"Then it seems we have not succeeded yet", Optimus said.
"What do we do now", Grimlock asked.
"We must return to base and figure out our next move", Optimus said.
The Autobots did so, and back at the Ark, they were in the bridge, trying their hardest to figure out what to do.
"How do we free a bunch of humans who got their minds taken over by Soundwave's music", Hot Rod asked.
"I don't know", Bumblebee said, "but those Decepticons' plan sure worked well, I'll give them that much."
"Guys, this is serious", Windblade said.
"Windblade is right", Optimus said, "unless we figure out a way to break Soundwave's hypnotic trance, the humans of this city will be digging for the AllSpark until their deaths."
"That won't be very long, compared to our lifespans", Bumblebee said.
"Indeed", Grimlock said, "but how are we going to prevent such a thing?"
The Autobots thought for a moment, and something came to Bumblebee's head.
"Wait a minute", Bumblebee said, "who knows music better than any Autobot on the Ark?"
The Autobots were quick to catch on.
"Jazz", the five Autobots said.
"Maybe he'll know a way to un-do something like this", Hot Rod said.
"It's worth a try", Windblade said.
In a part of the Ark, Jazz was playing a song on his cyber-bass, and once he finished, he was met with applause from the Autobots, who had entered the room and listened to him playing.
"Nice song, Jazz", Bumblebee said.
"Thanks, Bee", Jazz said, "I just couldn't leave Cybertron without my cyber-bass."
"I remember you used to play that thing all the time at Maccadam's", Windblade said.
"That's right", Jazz said, "Mac liked my playing well."
Flashback
At Maccadam's, before the war, Jazz was playing his cyber-bass for some patrons at the bar, and when he was done, they all applauded him, and Maccadam walked over to him.
"Very nice, Jazz", Maccadam said, "you sure are skilled at playing the cyber-bass."
"Thanks, Mac", Jazz said, "it's a gift."
"Indeed it is", Maccadam said, "and one day, that gift is going to free an entire group of creatures from the control of evil."
Jazz was confused by the barkeeper's words.
"Don't worry, it'll all make sense in time", Maccadam said.
"Whatever you say", Jazz said.
Maccadam walked away, and Jazz went back to playing for his audience.
End Flashback
"Yep", Jazz said, "playing this thing is one of by best skills."
Bumblebee thought for a moment about Jazz's story, and something came to him.
"Wait a minute", Bumblebee said, "I think Mac knew this would happen."
"What do you mean", Jazz asked.
"Windblade", Bumblebee said, "remember when we looked into my memories of Maccadam's, and Maccadam said stuff that helped us out?"
"Yes", Windblade said, "some of the stuff he said in your memories led us to finding Grimlock."
"Maccadam's the one responsible for you two finding me", Grimlock asked, "I think I owe him a thank you."
"What are you guys talking about", Jazz said.
"Maccadam said that your gift would free a group of creatures from the control of evil", Bumblebee said, "maybe this is what he meant."
"You really think so", Jazz asked.
"His cryptic words helped us find Grimlock, so it must be true", Windblade said.
"We do not have many options at the moment, so we must put this theory to the test", Optimus said, "Jazz, we are going to see if your cyber-bass music will free the humans from Soundwave's mind control."
"Mind control", Jazz asked, "what's that all about?"
"It's a long story", Bumblebee said, "we'll explain on the way."
At the makeshift radio station, Jazz was in position with his cyber-bass, and Bumblebee was at the DJ platform that Shadow Striker was previously at.
"Is everything ready", Bumblebee asked.
"Almost", Windblade said, "stand by!"
Windblade pulled a switch, and a glowing sign that said "on air" lit up.
"You're on", Windblade said.
Bumblebee pressed a button next to a microphone and began speaking trough it.
"Hey there, music fans", Bumblebee said, "this is B. Bee here, and we've got a real treat for you: the newest single by the meister himself: Jazz!"
Bumblebee pointed to Jazz, and the latter began playing music on his cyber-bass, and as it played on the radios in the areas where the enslaved humans were, the sound of his music caused them to snap out of their trances, and after looking around and seeing where they were, they dropped their digging equipment and walked away, while Optimus, Grimlock, and Hot Rod observed.
"It's working", Hot Rod said.
"The humans are free at last", Grimlock said.
"Well done, Jazz", Optimus said, "you may stop now."
"No way Prime, I just got started", Jazz said, "let me have my 15 minutes of fame."
"Very well", Optimus said.
Jazz continued to play the song on his cyber-bass to the end, and a little while later, Slipstream arrived at the site where her group of enslaved humans were, and was very surprised to find it devoid of humans.
"Strange", Slipstream said, "where did my slaves go?"
She then got calls from Thundercracker and Nova Storm.
"Captain, we have a problem", Thundercracker said, "my humans aren't in their site any more."
"Neither are mine", Nova Storm said.
"Yours too", Slipstream asked.
"Is something wrong", Thundercracker asked.
Slipstream just ended the call.
"Megatron's so going to deactivate me", Slipstream said.
Meanwhile, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Windblade, Grimlock, Hot Rod, and Jazz were all heading back to the Ark in their alternate modes following their saving of the day.
"We did it, you guys", Windblade said, "we saved the day and freed the humans."
"Yeah", Hot Rod said, "and we owe it all to you Jazz."
"Yes", Grimlock said, "Jazz save flesh creatures."
"Indeed", Optimus said, "you have done well today, Jazz."
"Happy to have helped", Jazz said.
The Autobots continued along their way, happy to have a valuable ally such as Jazz on their team.
AN: This is a message for Mariah. In response to one of the reviews you left, I actually am considering writing for other Transformers series. I'm not sure about the movie series right now, but possible series I may write about include the original G1 cartoon, Beast Wars, the Unicron Trilogy (which consisted of Transformers: Armada, Transformers: Energon, and Transformers: Cybertron), Transformers: Animated, Transformers: Prime, Transformers: Rescue Bots, and Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015). I've also got plans for writing my own Transformers series that focuses on the character Minerva. As for writing a story about Drift, I'm not sure I'll be doing that, because after his depiction in Cyberverse, I don't think I'll be able to look at the character the same way again. I hope I gave you the answers you were looking for.
