Author's Notes; An update of the overview of the Dark Armors. Spoilers if you have not read my Dark Armors AU. Its been a good 3 years since I did my initial Dark Armors Summary..and I've worked with the Dark Armor colors and effects in that time..so it seemed an ideal time for an update, along with the completion of the Dark Armors AU..Please enjoy..Until next fic..

Backstory;

Upon a second look around the old abandoned Reploid warehouse where X had been captured by Mac in the events of X3, Zero stumbled into a room that looked untouched for centuries. Its here that he finds two ancient scythes. One of them seems to call out to him. He acknowledges the plaques on the wall, stating that only the pure of heart could even touch either. The first of the two scythes he tries to touch is angelic scythe with the name "Corruption" engraved on it.

Weapon Overview;

Name; Corruption. Description; An angelic scythe descended from Heaven with the blood of its enemies stained onto the blade. The blue dragon's eye implanted onto the top of its pole haunts its victims past the grave. The source of its power is a large turquoise gem mounted and guarded near the top of the pole.

Attack and Element (using Monster Hunter standards); Raw Attack; 1100. Element; 600 Water.

Effects;

Corruption has no noticeable effects on Zero. However when X takes it to train with Zero, his armor becomes mostly black with purple underarmor with patches of light blue in addition to a purple collar on his neck. This is his "base Dark armor". It is Waterproofed, triples the water output of any water weapon X has, and grants X the use of Ice and the ability to heal himself and others.
The second form of X's "Dark armor" is "Dark Angel X". This form will only activate on nights of the New Moon. X gains angelic wings, stronger healing, and a purple ice beam.

Backstory (Continued);

The other scythe in the room glows red as Zero comes closer to investigate it. It was this scythe that had been calling out to him. As he reaches, touches, and then takes the scythe engraved with the name "Nethersbane", he notices a multitude of changes physically for a start as he looks into the surviving fragment of a mirror on a wall.

Weapon Overview;

Name; Nethersbane. Description; A hellish scythe, said to have been crafted in the depths of Hell itself. This odd scythe bears two criss-crossed poles; one black with spikes and one red sprouting from the spikes and meeting at the blade and hilt. Its power source is a large red gem mounted and guarded at the top of its blade.

Attack and Element (using Monster Hunter standards); Raw Attack; 1200. Element; 700 Dragon (red and black "lightning" exclusive to the Monster Hunter series)

Effects;

Nethersbane has no physical effect on X. Zero, on the other hand, sees many physical changes. His skin becomes slightly darker, his eyes become slightly paler, his hair turns blood red, he gains deep pitch black rings around his eyes, and much of his armor turns pitch black. His chest lens become a deep blue and the gray sections of his armor become red. He also gains a red collar with black spikes. In his "base Dark armor", Zero is Fireproofed, can create huge gusts of wind with even the smallest movements, gains a dark red flame breath, and his non-fire attacks often become accentuated by electricity.

The second form of Zero's "Dark armor" is "Dark Absolute Zero". Like X's "Dark Angel X", "Dark Absolute" will only activate under a New Moon. In this form, Zero loses wind control, but keeps his fire and electricity. Strangely, he also gains the same purple ice beam X gains as "Dark Angel X".

Mutual Effects (these may not be in the story, but show up in my artworks of the forms sometimes);

Corruption may not affect Zero, but it will give a slight blue glow in his presence. Nethersbane will behave in the same manner with X, except with a faint red glow.

When in close enough proximity to each other, both base Dark armors will glow the same color as the auras of their triggering scythes. X will glow light blue because of Corruption and Zero a dark red because of Nethersbane. (Artistically, the main reason for this is because I do dark backgrounds, black backgrounds especially when the Dark Armors are involved. So these auras serve as a means of stopping the scythes from blending into the background).

When they are very close and touching each other, one of their auras will cover the both of them. Its usually the aura of whoever is dominating the present situation, which is often Zero. Though X has his dominant moments. (Artistically, this usually happens when they are cuddling, holding, or what have you. It helps sell the fluff, in my eyes.)

In the secondary forms, "Dark Angel X" and "Dark Absolute Zero", a deep purple magical bonds forms between X and Zero and it links them at their collars. The magical bond helps keep the two together in addition to helping the suggestion of the armors being magical in nature. If one strays too far from the other, he will be snapped back to the side of the other. This effect is also present in the base forms, but nowhere near as visible or powerful enough to cause the snapback.
