Author's Note
This story might seem unusual to some of you. I had this idea a while back about making a story about Judd Thompson and Marjorie Amherst. That may surprise some of you, since those two are polar opposites in the Left Behind: The Kids series. Judd and Marjorie would have almost nothing to do with each other. But in fanfictions, anything is possible. And changing the Left Behind: The Kids series so that Marjorie helps out Judd and his friends is certainly interesting to look at. How would this change things? Let's find out…
Chapter One: Detention Day
Marjorie Amherst was not pleased about the task that she was assigned with. She had plans to make the honor roll at the end of the year, get ready for senior year, and maybe think of applying for a college or working for the Global Community. She was determined and confident. She was excited and looked forward to all the possibilities. Working for the Global Community was certainly something she was looking forward to.
And yet, it was situations like the one she was currently in that made her feel low.
Marjorie was informed that she would have to supervise the detention of Judd Thompson Jr. It was not a task she was looking forward to. She should be doing something productive, something that would really help herself out. Apparently, Judd has received detention for speaking out in one of his classes. He had apparently talked about God and Jesus, something that was strictly forbidden by the school officials at Nicolae Carpathia High School. Coach Handlesman frowned upon such activities and seemed to do everything in his power to silence all the secret Christians that were at that school. Marjorie had no interest in getting involved with any of this.
Yet, out of all people, she was chosen to supervise the detention.
Honestly, this was laughable. How could she, a rich girl with a 4.0 grade average and an honors student, be picked for a task like this? Sure, she was willing to obey the rules all the time, but did it really have to be her that should be chosen for this? It wasn't right. This was an injustice.
Marjorie sighed and just accepted the fact that she would have to look over Judd's detention. Why couldn't he just keep his mouth shut? She couldn't understand any of the Christians or any of the decisions that they made.
Marjorie walked to the detention room. She opened the door and found Judd, looking upset. He seemed pissed and ready to speak out.
Judd glared at her.
"What do you want, Amherst?", he asked harshly.
Marjorie wasn't having any of it.
"Look, I don't want to be here any more than you do. This is a punishment for the both of us. So, why don't you just sit here and neither of us say anything to each other? That way we can just get this over with without too much of a conflict."
"Detentions aren't going to stop me from telling the truth", Judd said.
"What you think is the truth", Marjorie interjected.
Judd rolled his eyes.
"You know, you really should look into this stuff. My whole family was taken in the disappearances. They tried to warn me. I should have listened."
"Why didn't you?"
"I wasn't interested. I wanted to live my own life. The last thing I did with my family was yell at my little brother and steal my dad's credit card. I used that card to board a plane that was heading for England."
Now this was surprising. Before the disappearances, Marjorie had always thought Judd was a troublemaker. He was from a rich family, but he tried his best to distance himself from the image of a typical suburban teen. But this new information was quite interesting.
"On the plane, numerous passengers disappeared. That's when I came back home and found the clothes of my whole family. I went to their church and later prayed to become a believer and talking with some new friends."
Marjorie didn't know what to think. On one hand, she was feeling sympathetic for what Judd had gone through. On the other hand, she had her own life and future to worry about. And she didn't think for one second that Christianity would have anything to do with it.
