The new week started and around the beginning of that week was when Maxwell made sure that Eda drank the stronger acting elixir to keep her curse at bay. The taste of the liquid to Eda tasted like she was drinking water with fruity flavoring to it but it worked in keeping her curse at bay for another month.
"You alright, Eda?" asked Maxwell looking worried.
Eda paused and she let out a loud burp after consuming one of the potion vials of the stronger elixir that she is now taking. She smiled and chuckled like it was something as harmless as drinking pure and clean water.
"Don't worry, Maxie. I'll be fine, the potion may have tasted like flavored water but the curse will be kept at bay for another month. Besides, we got four more so we're still good for at least four months." Eda reassured.
Maxwell let out a sigh of relief as he he made sure the vial she emptied was fully empty and made sure that her curse didn't come back or if there was any side affects that were considered alarming, luckily for both of them, there was no side affects coming and the curse didn't return.
"Maxie, try to come yourself. This potion dosage has me good for another month." said Eda slightly annoyed.
He blushed and nodded with a saddened expression upon his face.
"I know, I just don't want anything to happen to you or anyone I care about. You, King and Luz and Luz's friends, you're all I've got." said Maxwell feeling worried and depressed about losing someone he loves.
Eda could tell that Maxwell cared about her a lot and didn't want to lose her. She sensed that she probably shouldn't be annoyed about this as Maxwell was just worried about her. She understood and placed her hands on Maxwell's shoulders to show some reassurance. He looked up at her as she gave a smile directed at him.
"It's alright, big boy. I know you're worried and it's just because you care. Besides, I did take this potion once and even though it kept the curse at bay, it actually did more than that." said Eda pointing out the details.
Seeing that potion made Eda have her natural hair color back like when she was a teenager, that it made her feel stronger and filled with more energy like she was when she was at the age of eighteen, it even had her looking just as young, even if she was a full grown adult. She still looked like the age she is today but with the potion, it gave her back the youthful appearance she'd shown when she was eighteen. Maxwell saw this and nodded, even though he loves her, he always loves her, no matter how old she is and no matter if she was looking young or old, his love for her is forever.
"Eda, how do you put up with me?" said Maxwell feeling reassured.
He got closer to her and wrapped his arms around her in a hug while she blushed a bit from the unexpected hug, she smiled and hugged him back while she would use one of her hands to gently scratch behind his back, causing him to twitch and moan in relaxation.
"I put up with you because you've done so much for me, King and Luz. Even though we do a lot for you, still, I may be the tough bad girl whose got a reputation to uphold, but after everything you've done for me, no other man has done such good things for me like you have. You've won my heart with what you've done, I say that gives me every reason to trust you completely, even if there's times when we all get on each others nerves, still, your family, and family puts up with each other and trusts each other." Eda explained with a word of reassuring comfort.
Her words seems to comfort him as he felt relieved by what she told him. As Maxwell looked up at her, she planted her soft and big, full lips to his in a passionate kiss. They spend an hour or so making out and had a session of making love.
Later on during the week. Both Luz and Maxwell were at school and as they were socializing with Willow and Gus, they had a little conversation about a normal subject.
"So back in the human world, there are other people of different skin colors?" asked Gus curiously.
"Yes, you got Caucasians like me, or simply white people, African Americans, they got the same skin color like you, we got Hispanics but it depends on where they're from as some are lighter in skin tone and some are darker in skin tone. Luz is of latina descent but she's Dominican American which she's still considered Hispanic, just has a darker skin tone." explained Maxwell. "But even in the human world, some people still face and deal with racism. But we shouldn't judge or discriminate against anyone for their skin color. We should only be judged by actions of the heart."
"Maxie is right about that. People shouldn't judge others by race, only judge them by actions of the heart." Luz stated.
Both Willow and Gus shown they understood and agreed with their words.
"Sounds like something that we used to go through. You know, some didn't like humans very much but you two managed to show us that humans are good people." said Willow kindly.
"That's one way to look at it." Luz confirmed.
They stopped as they saw what looked like decoration being put up all around the school. There was gold colored balloons with creepy smiles and frowns upon them, gold streamers tied to the walls and near the ceiling and big signs with the word "Grom" in gold lettering adorned near anywhere the streamers were placed.
"Looks like we're doing Grom again but what for?" said Luz curiously. "It only happens once a year like the last time."
"Well, apparently, the Grom last time, they found out it wasn't completely destroyed but weakened. But if anyone was to brutally defeat it, than it should be permanently defeated." Willow explained.
"What's Grom?" Maxwell chimed in.
Luz, Willow and Gus looked at Maxwell and saw he was clueless about Grom and the events of what happened. They saw that they knew about it all but not him. They felt a bit guilty for not telling him.
"Oh, he doesn't know." said Willow showing a sympathetic expression.
"Why don't you read our minds and find out." suggested Gus.
Maxwell shook his head.
"Just because I got this power, doesn't mean I want to use it all the time. I don't like showing off or bragging, from what I saw in some circles, some hate it when others brag or show off. I'm sorry but I'm not that kind of guy." Maxwell kindly turned the suggestion down.
"Sounds fair." said Gus in agreement.
"Hey human." came a female's voice.
They turned to see what looked like a tall black female witch who wore the school uniform but she was from the potions track. She had brown eyes, a full head of hair that was in an afro, she had full lips but they were not as full as Eda's lips, she looked like she had a big butt and big breasts but again, they were not as big as Eda's butt and breasts. She had pointy ears and was slightly taller than Maxwell. The young male human blushed as he saw this female teenage witch come up to him.
"Are you the human known as Maxwell?" asked the female.
"Y-y-y-yes." stuttered Maxwell.
"Well sugar, grom isn't too far behind, kind of like how my behind gets a lot of attention from being big and thick." said the female. "But even though you're a human and I'm one fine witch honey. I wanted to know if you were interested in going to grom with me."
Maxwell let out a nervous cough as if caught off guard by the offer. He was starting to see what this "Grom" was or started to see what it possibly was. But he knew that he was already in a relationship with Eda and couldn't accept this teenage witch's offer. He really didn't want to hurt her feelings but he was nervous enough. The female witch turned to Luz as if wondering why Maxwell was silent.
"Excuse me but did someone else already ask him to grom? He's not answering." she asked Luz.
"First of all, your name?" asked Luz.
"The Cleo Shanice Cooker. Everyone calls me Cookie." answered the female witch.
"I see. Well Cookie, sorry to break it to you but Maxie is already in a relationship. So unfortunately, you asking him to be your date to grom is going to have to be a no, I'm sorry. He would've told you himself but he's a bit nervous." Luz kindly explained.
Cookie looked towards Maxwell with a sympathetic look and Maxwell mouthed out the words "I'm sorry" to her. Cookie didn't seem hurt but she did look like she understood.
"I see. I apologize, if I knew you were already dating someone, I wouldn't have asked. I don't believe in cheating." Cookie said showing compassion.
Hearing that she didn't believe in cheating seem to make Maxwell feel like he could find some common ground with her on that. His nervousness and shyness disappeared a bit.
"Cookie, I mean Cleo." said Maxwell.
She gave him her attention as Maxwell spoke.
"I'm glad to know you're not the type to cheat and as kind as your offer is, I'm sorry. But just so you know, I never wanted you to feel hurt from me turning the offer down. You're a sweet girl whose got a lot to give to the right guy." said Maxwell as he paused.
Cookie seemed to show she was feeling better or feeling like Maxwell was trying not to hurt her feelings by turning her date offer down. But Maxwell sensed the thoughts of another male teenager nearby and this male teenager was ten feet away from them, he could hear this male witch teenager's thoughts and they were about Cookie and how he likes her. Maxwell turned to face Cookie.
"But if you see that young boy other there." said Maxwell pointing in the direction of the male teenager he heard the thoughts from. "I heard his thoughts and he's actually wanting you to ask him out to grom. He's that young male teenager other there with the medium length dark hair and is from the illusionists track."
Cookie turned to see the male that Maxwell pointed out. Cookie felt her heart racing for the male that was pointed out to her and she blushed with a grin.
"Are you sure that fine sugar over there is wanting to be my date? He looks like a fine young man." chuckled Cookie as she was liking who she saw.
"Why not ask him and find out. It's like someone told me when it comes to trying a solution to solve a problem that looks like it's least likely to work. You never know until you try. Stranger things have happened." Maxwell encouraged.
Cookie decided to take a chance as she walked over towards the male teenager Maxwell pointed out. They saw her go over to him, they chatted for a minute or more and it looked like they both smiled and hugged each other as they looked like they accepted each others offer to be the others date to grom.
"Maxie brought two people together." chuckled Luz.
"So you used your mind reading ability for that?" said Gus looking confused.
"I never said I only used it to help others." stated Maxwell.
"You got me there." said Gus.
Maxwell turned to Luz.
"Thanks for stepping in." said Maxwell kindly.
"Anything for Maximus." said Luz with a grin.
"So grom is like prom around here? A school dance of some sort? People asking another to be their date to the dance? The whole thing?" said Maxwell starting to catch on.
"Yep, that's what it is for the most part." said Willow.
Hearing this and finding out what grom was had Maxwell's mind suddenly fill with images of him wanting to do romantic gestures for Eda. He imagined himself in a suit and tie and Eda is a formal dress as he imagined that he did something as a romantic gesture that both Eda and himself could relate to as he saw that Eda pulled him in for a kiss to his lips and both began dancing to romantic music. His heart raced faster from imagining such situations with Eda, his mind was filled with such ideas for romantic gestures. Maxwell blushed deeply as he looked as though he stared off into space.
"Maxie?" said Gus.
Willow waved her hand in front of Maxwell's face to get his attention but to no avail.
"It's like his brain turned off." said Willow.
Luz had an idea to bring Maxwell out of his trance but before she could go through with it, someone bumped into Maxwell and broke him out of his mindset before Luz could.
"Watch it, nitwit!- Oh. Hi, Luz... and co and Maxie. Sorry about that." came Amity's voice.
Maxwell turned to see that Amity was picking up the books she was carrying and Maxwell snapped his fingers and everything Amity was carrying started to float into the air and they flew into Amity's backpack.
"I apologize. My mind was...off somewhere else." said Maxwell blushing.
"I take it you were told about grom?" Amity guessed.
"A little bit. I wonder whose going to be voted grom king or queen?" said Maxwell looking curious. "Or has someone already been chosen?"
Luz, Willow, Gus and Amity had their expressions turn from smiles to worried concern. They knew that Maxwell only knew half of what grom was about but they knew he wasn't informed of what the rest of it was about.
"Why are you guys so silent?" asked Maxwell curiously.
"Luz, did you tell him?" said Amity showing some concern.
"Tell me what?" asked Maxwell.
"We were going to tell him but we don't know how without the risk of him freaking out." said Luz feeling her mother bear instincts coming back.
"Freak out about what?" asked Maxwell.
Before they could tell him, static was heard over the intercom.
"Attention Hexside students. This is your principal speaking." came Principle Bump's voice over the intercom.
"Oh, man, this is it!" said Gus looking worried.
"He's announcing who'll be this year's Grom royalty." said Willow looking like she was hanging on every word in panic.
As Amity remembered the events of grom last time when it was her and Luz, she looked towards Maxwell as if she was about to be his shield to take on a punch.
"Maxwell, you have to run. You don't want to hear this!" warned Amity.
Maxwell turned to her and didn't know what Amity meant but he stood there, listening in on the intercom.
"This year is going to be surprising, I have the privilege to bestow our highest Grom honor to... Maxwell Logan. Our Grom king!" announced Principle Bump.
Everyone froze. Everyone but Maxwell were showing looks of concern and fear, some were murmuring about the situation while Maxwell blushed and felt like his heart could've stopped.
"Oh no." groaned Amity in disgust.
"What's the bad news?" Maxwell asked.
Luz, Willow, Gus and Amity turned to Maxwell, knowing that if they had to tell him what he didn't know, they had to tell it to him now.
"Maxie, there's something we have to tell you." said Luz looking worried.
Maxwell felt a gurgling sound coming on from his stomach and he felt the urge to use the bathroom.
"You might want to put a hold on that, cheese fries are making a comeback." said Maxwell.
Before they could get a word in edge wise, that's when Maxwell took off towards the bathroom to use it. They felt a strong amount of concern, worry and guilt as they knew Maxwell didn't know about the events of grom the last time it took place when ever Luz and Amity took it down last time.
"Guys, I don't feel good about this." said Willow looking uneasy.
"Maxie can't go through this. Taking on the grom demon. Last time we took on the grom demon, it was almost too much for me and Amity." said Luz feeling the same as Willow.
"Want me to tell him?" Amity suggested.
Luz paused for a moment but shook her head.
"No, I think all four of us should tell him. We need to be there for him." Luz suggested.
They all nodded and knew that as much as they care about Maxwell and his safety, they felt worried about Maxwell as they knew they had some bad news to tell him but they didn't know how else to tell him.
