Jo stepped off the elevator onto the 4th floor of General Hospital. Drew was being released today and she was very relieved. Jo was thankful the doctors got to his aneurysm in time, before any permanent damage was done. Just as she rounded the corner to check in at the nurses' station, she was startled by a familiar voice.

"Jo, what are you doing here?" Kim sneered.

Jo turned around and rolled her eyes at Kim.

"What business is it of yours?" Jo replied, glaring at Kim.

"Look, if you're here to try and give me some kind of 'warning,' again or whatever, you can just save it. I don't need your smug attitude right now, plus don't forget how I got you that information you wanted." Kim remarks snidely, raising her voice slightly.

Jo chuckles a bit and steps in closer to Kim.

"Oh, Kim. Don't worry, why I'm here has NOTHING to do with you. I could care less what you do. You mean absolutely nothing to me or for that matter, you mean nothing to Drew." Jo whispers.

Kim flinches slightly at the mention of Drew. Her plan to get him to notice her was underway and she hoped that very soon she would be able to move on to the next phase.

"You don't get to decide, what I mean to Drew. I know he's upset with me right now about the Oscar lie, but soon, I'll get him to see that I did that out of a place of love." Kim protested.

"Love? Was it love when you cruelly announced to the entire courtroom that he actually WASN'T Oscar's father? And what are you talking about love for anyway when it comes to Drew, I thought you had some other guy in town, fooled into falling for you?" Jo seethed, grabbing Kim's arm.

"Let go of me!" Kim cried out loud enough to turn the attention of a few staff members standing close by. Kim smiled sweetly, to diffuse the situation and then walked with Jo over toward the waiting area.

"Look, all I meant was, it was coming out of a place of love for Oscar, because I wanted him to have the best father possible. You would at least agree with me, on the fact Drew is a great dad."

Jo let a small smile creep across her face as she got a far-off look.

"Yes, of course, Drew is an amazing father. Too bad you took the opportunity away from him to be a father all those years ago."

Kim looked up at Jo with daggers in her eyes.

"You're STILL blaming me for that? I told you I had nothing to do with your unfortunate accident." Kim snidely replies.

"Oh, I know it was you, Kim. I may not be able to prove it, but I know you pushed me down those stairs and now, Drew knows too." Jo announces, pleased with herself.

"What?! You told Drew that?" Kim rages.

"Of course, I did. He had a right to know."

"You had NO right to tell him lies about me! You have no proof!" Kim sneers as she points her finger in Jo's face.

Jo raises her hand up and waves Kim's finger out of her face. She steps in toward Kim a bit and lowers her head, so she can whisper directly in Kim's ear.

"Careful, Kim, you seem a little, 'unsettled,' you wouldn't want to do something you might regret."

Kim lifted her head up a bit, looking around to see if anyone was watching them. She smoothed her hair out with her hand and then straightened her lab coat. She stepped back from Jo slightly and cleared her throat.

"I have to get back to work now." Kim softly replied. "It was lovely to see you again Jo." Kim exclaimed, loud enough for the nearby staff to hear. She then turned around and walked down the hall and out of sight.

Jo let out a loud sigh and brushed the hair out of her face. She sat down in one of the nearby chairs in the waiting area. She wanted to calm down before she went into Drew's room so he wouldn't notice anything was wrong. Today was about him getting out of the hospital, not about Kim drama.

After a few minutes Jo got up and made her way down the hallway towards Drew's room. As she approached, she could hear voices coming from the room. As she got closer, she could see that Curtis was in with Drew and they seemed to be talking about something pretty intently. As Jo predicted, Drew was dressed and sitting on the side of his bed. He was so ready to get out of the hospital. It was a miracle Monica was able to keep him there as long as she did. Drew didn't like hospitals and he was never very good at taking orders from people who weren't his superior officer and even then, sometimes it was iffy. Jo chuckled to herself, thinking back at Drew's hot-headed behavior that had gotten him into some hot water a few times.

She stopped just short of walking into the room to gather herself together quickly.

"Let's just keep this between us for now, okay?" Drew instructed. He smiled when he saw Jo come waltzing into the room.

"Keep what between you?" Jo quizzes.

Curtis looks up, a bit startled, when Jo enters the room.

"Jo! Boy am I glad to see you." Drew gushes, trying to distract her.

"I'm glad to see you too, Drew. But I know when you are trying to distract me." Jo smiles and touches Drew's shoulder.

"Hey, look. I've got to go, I'm supposed to be meeting a client about this case I'm working on and well, you two, look like you have some stuff to talk about." Curtis replies nervously.

"Thanks, Curtis." Drew mocks. "Hey, seriously though, let me know what you find out, okay?" Drew continues, with a serious tone.

"You know I will." Curtis assures him as they slap hands.

Curtis turns to leave. Just before he reaches the doorway, he calls back, "Nice to see you Jo," as he waves his hand in the air.

Jo chuckles slightly.

"What was that all about?" Jo questions, again, sitting down on the bed next to Drew.

"Curtis is just, Curtis." Drew quips.

"You know that's not what I mean, Drew." Jo replies, annoyed. "What are you keeping between the two of you?"

"Well, if I told you, then it wouldn't be just between the two of us, now would it?" Drew teases as he grabs Jo gently at the back of the neck."

"Oooh, Whatever!" Jo cries out in frustration. "So, I see you are ready to get out of here."

"You know it! I am just waiting for Monica to bring me the discharge paperwork and then we can blow this popsicle stand." Drew cheerfully exclaims, putting his hand up for Jo to give him a high five.

The two slap hands and as they lower them, Drew interlocks his fingers with Jo's. She tries to pull her hand away slightly but Drew grabs on tighter and brings them to rest on his leg.

"Jo, I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry."

"Sorry, for what?" Jo asks, looking Drew in the eyes.

"I know I hurt you when I was asking for Sam, when I first came in here and after my surgery. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you."

Jo lowered her head and let out a small sigh. She shook her head slightly and a piece of hair fell into her face.

"I get it, Drew. She's the mother of your child and she was your wife. It makes sense that you would want her to know what's going on with you." Jo explains. "It's fine, really."

"No, it's not fine and I want you to know, I'm truly sorry. I'm sorry about all of this, how complicated everything is. I'm hoping, now that I'm getting out of this place, that you and I can finally figure out what's going on between us. I mean, if you want that to?" Drew questions, as he moves his head to try and meet her eyes and he swipes the stray piece of hair behind her ear.

Jo awkwardly smiles and dips her head to one side. She so badly wanted to see if her and Drew could build on their past feelings but she was unsure if he was truly ready. Drew tucked his fingers under her chin and moved her head up so they were eye to eye. As Jo stared into Drew's crystal blue eyes, a wash of emotion flooded over her and she suddenly knew that she wanted to try with Drew. Whether or not he was truly ready, she wanted to see where their relationship could go. It felt like it was now or never and they had already had so many false starts that she was tired of waiting for the 'right time.'

"Drew, I, I would….." Jo stammers out quietly, just as the door to the room opens and Monica steps in.

"Who's ready to get out of here?" Monica's gravelly voice booms through the room.

Jo quickly releases Drew's hand and jumps up off the bed.

"Monica, hey do you think you could give Jo and I just a minute?" Drew asks.

"Drew, no, it's okay. You and I can finish our talk later, I mean you want to get out of, here right?" Jo awkwardly replies.

Monica looks back and forth between Drew and Jo. She squints her eyes a bit and purses her lips, clearly realizing she had walked into the middle of something.

"Uh, yes, I'm sorry, I can give you two a minute alone," Monica blurts out.

"No, Monica really, it's not necessary. Let's just get Drew out of here." Jo insists.

"Jo, I'd really like to finish what…." Jo cuts Drew off before he can finish.

"Drew, seriously, it's fine we can talk about it when we get you…" Before Jo can finish the thought her cell phone begins to ring. She pulls the phone out of her pocket and flashes a puzzled look.

"Um, excuse me, I need to take this." Jo explains flatly as she walks out of the room.

"Hello? Yes, this is Commander Jenkins. What? No, that's not possible. No, he was killed…Yes, sir. I understand…Thank you sir. Yes, keep in touch. Goodbye." Jo was floored by the conversation. She was so taken aback by what she had just heard that she nearly fell down. She had to catch herself by grabbing on to the wall next to her. Could it be true? Really true? She couldn't believe it. After a few moments she walked back into Drew's room. She had been so immersed in her conversation that she hadn't noticed Monica had left.

"So, I got the green light to….." Drew was gathering his things off the bed with his back turned to Jo, so he didn't see her when she first walked into the room. Her face was one of disbelief and she was pale.

"Jo, what is it what's wrong? Come sit down." Drew said as he grabbed her and pulled her down onto the bed. "What happened, what was that call about?" Drew persisted.

Jo's eyes were filled with tears as she looked over at Drew.

"Drew, oh my God! You are never going to believe it! It's a miracle!" Jo exclaimed and she threw her arms around Drew hugging him tightly as she began to sob.
