Jo gently moved her head back and forth against the wall. She slowly opened her eyes. The moonlight was streaming in from the small window. She squinted her eyes as she tried to get her bearings and remember how she had gotten here. She remembered seeing Drew off at Kelly's. They had gone there for a quick cup of coffee before his ride came to take him to the airport. Deke! Jo suddenly remembered her brother and the miraculous news that he was alive. She wondered for a moment about Deke and Drew and whether or not Drew had been able to reach him yet or not. Jo wasn't sure how much time had passed since she had been out. She rubbed her hand along her forehead and groaned slightly.

Sam heard her fellow captive and slowly walked over toward Jo. She crouched down and gently rubbed Jo's shoulder.

"Hey there. How you feeling?" Sam asked with concern.

"Sam?" "What, how did I get here?" Jo asked, perplexed.

"You don't remember what happened?" Sam tried to coax the other woman to recall.

Jo closed her eyes tight and rubbed the back of her neck.

"I remember I was at Kelly's with, um," Jo hesitated to mention Drew. She knew it would spark jealousy in Sam. While part of her delighted in that fact, she was still too out of it to deal with the wrath.

"With Drew, right?" Sam finished Jo's thought.

Jo looked down and let out a little sigh. "Yeah, I was with Drew. Anyway, after he left I remember I was in the alleyway next to Kelly's and then suddenly, I felt this…" Jo grabbed the back of her neck as she remembered the painful pinch she felt right before she became unable to move.

"A jab, like from a needle, right?" Sam continued the familiar story. "Then you were shoved into a wheelchair while you were unable to move?"

"Yes! That's exactly right!" Jo exclaims. "Wait, how do you know that? And who…. Oh my God, it was her wasn't it, it was Kim?" Jo suddenly realizes. Jo slowly stands up and places her hand against the wall to steady herself.

"Yes, it was Kim. And I know the story, because she did the exact same thing to me. That's how I got here." Sam recalls.

Jo, now pacing slowly rubs her temples gently. She began to recall the confrontation she had at the hospital with Kim, a few days before. Kim was always a little on edge, but that day she seemed even more so. Like she was hiding something, it hadn't taken much to get her pretty unsettled.

"I thought something was off with her at the hospital that day." Jo quietly mumbles to herself.

Sam was pacing herself, at this point, trying to figure out how they were going to get out of this place. Jo's comment intrigued Sam and she wanted to learn more.

"Wait, what do you mean by that? Why were you at the hospital, are you okay?" Sam questioned.

Jo scoffed slightly. "Don't pretend to care, I know you wish I never even came to this town."

Sam let out a loud sigh. "Look, it's no secret that I don't trust you or like you. But if there is something wrong with you and you are going to collapse on the floor here from some weird condition you have, I'd like to know about it." She said annoyed.

Jo rolled her eyes and pushed the hair out of her face. "There is nothing wrong with me, I'm in top physical condition. I'm in the military remember? I don't have any 'weird conditions.'" Jo retorted as she made the quotes symbol with her fingers. "I was there to see Drew." She blurted out. Jo quickly realized her mistake and scrunched her face and made fists with her hands.

Sam spun around quickly and put her hand's on Jo's shoulder.

"What do you mean you were there to see Drew? Is he okay, what happened?"

Jo knew there was no getting out of explaining Drew's condition. It really wasn't her place not to say anyway. She knew Drew wanted Sam to know and he was fine now anyway.

"Look, he's okay now, he's fine, really. He had a subdural hematoma caused by an aneurysm. They did emergency surgery and he's fine now. Monica even gave him a clean bill of health." Jo concludes with a chuckle.

Sam ran her fingers through her hair. She couldn't believe Drew had, had brain surgery. That had to be what the headache was about that he'd had that day. She was pacing back and forth more furiously now and biting her thumbnail.

Jo could see Sam's concern and disbelief, wash over her. She remembered feeling all of that when she saw Drew collapse. For the first time, Jo saw the love Sam had for Drew. Sam had the same worried look and the pacing in fear, that Jo had experienced in the ER that day. Her heart went out to Sam. She hated having to feel that way and didn't want another person to have to go through that. Jo stepped over to Sam and put her hand on her arm.

"It's okay. I promise, he's fine." Jo sweetly consoles Sam. "He asked for you, you know."

"He did?" Sam questions.

"Yep, he sure did. I was there talking to him, trying to get him to wake up and he thought I was you."

A pain shot through Jo's heart recalling the moment. Tears began welling up in her eyes as she told Sam about the ER and how Drew had regained consciousness, long enough to ask Monica to call her. As Jo recounted the story, she could see the spark of hope in Sam's eyes. She could see the complete look of love Sam had for him. It was in that moment that Jo knew she had to squash her hope of rekindling a relationship with Drew. He had a new life now and she wasn't a part of it.

After a few minutes Sam rubbed her hands over her face and wiped the tears from her face. Suddenly a smile brightened her face.

"That's it!" She cried out.

"That's what?" Jo quizzed.

"Drew! He's definitely gonna notice when you don't come back tonight. He'll start looking for you right away." Sam exclaimed, so hopeful.

Jo lowered her head and shook it slightly.

"Um, yeah, not exactly." Jo flatly replied.

Sam looked over with a puzzled look. She held her hands open and gave a look at Jo to explain.

"Remember the part of the story where I said, he left. Yeah, he like left, on a trip, out of the country." Jo trailed off awkwardly.

"What are you talking about? He just had brain surgery, he can't go out of the country!" Sam shouted.

Jo knew Sam would want answers. Answers Jo was not able to give. She knew she would have to deal with a mighty fury from her fellow captive.

"Look, Sam, I can't give you the details, just know it was a very important trip he had to take, it has something to do with his past."

Sam squinted her eyes and pursed her lips, walking in closer to Jo.

"Something with his past huh? Something to do with you?" Sam questioned intently.

Jo wouldn't look Sam in the eye and moved away from the woman. She bent down and picked up one of the bottles of water off the floor.

"Answer me Jo!" Sam screamed. "Something to do with you!?"

When Jo still wouldn't answer Sam lunged closer to her and knocked the water out of her hand. Startled, Jo walked back a few steps and reached down to pick up the water again. Letting out a small sigh, she shook her head slightly. "Yes," she barely squeaked out.

"What the hell, Jo! How could you let him do that!?" Sam fiercely cried.

In that moment Jo became enraged. Sam should know better than anyone how you can't stop Drew from doing something he believes is right. Jo took a few steps closer to Sam and bent over to look her straight in the eye.

"I didn't 'let,' Drew do anything. I told him he shouldn't go. I tried to get him to stay." Jo recalls and turns her back on Sam.

"Yeah," Sam Scoffs. "I wonder how hard. Sounds like you needed him to do something for you. I'm sure you tried, 'real hard.'" Sam spit with contention.

Jo spun around quickly and let her hand fly across Sam's face.

"Don't you dare!" Jo snaps back, sticking her finger in Sam's face as tears begin streaming down her face. She walks over to the nearest wall and sits down with her back against it, brushing her hair away from her face.

Sam, stunned by the assault, gently rubs her face. "I guess you owed me that one." She coyly responds. Jo looks up and cracks a small smile, recalling the slap Sam had placed on her at Kelly's.

"Yeah, I guess I did." She softly replies.

Sam steps over and sits down next to Jo. She gently nudges her shoulder with her own. The two women look at each other and giggle slightly.

"Ah, okay." Jo sighs, pushing her hair behind her ear. "We've got to figure out a way out of here, don't we? We can't assume Kim is ever coming back. Her goal is to get to Drew. Now that we are out of the way, she thinks she has a chance."

Sam nods her head in agreement. "Yeah, I think your right. How long before Drew will be back?" She queries.

Jo looks up toward the window and wonders if Drew has made his way to Deke yet. She wonders how much fire they took. She silently prays he makes it out safely with her brother. She hopes she will get to see them again and that Deke doesn't come home to the news of her death. Realizing that she has left Sam hanging for her answer she snaps out of her thoughts quickly.

"Um, I'm not sure. How long was I out?" Jo asks

"Several hours. It's the same day when Kim first brought you here. It looks like the sun is getting ready to set again." Sam replies, pointing up at the window.

"So, it's probably going to be at least another couple of days." Jo says, careful to not show her worry that Drew could never come home.

"Okay, then, we are definitely gonna have to get out of this one ourselves. What do you say, GI Jane?" Sam smirks as she holds out her hand for Jo to shake.

Jo giggles quietly. "I'm in, Rocky. Let's do this."
