Drew walked into the Quartermaine mansion exhausted and forlorn. He couldn't believe the events of the last few days. The thrill of the realization that Deke was alive and the adrenaline rush of rescuing him to the low of saying goodbye to his best friend who could have maybe been even more. Then there was the situation with Sam. Maybe Jo was right to distance herself. He did have a lot to deal with here. If Jo had stayed it would have been so easy to just fall back into a relationship with her and not deal with his feelings for Sam. That wouldn't be fair to do to either woman. Maybe there was nothing to deal with, with Sam. She seemed to have made her decision. But what about his? Was he ready to just let her go or did he want to fight for her?

Drew poured himself a drink and flopped down on the couch to contemplate his life. He could hear the clap of thunder outside and see the lightning strike out of the corner of his eye.

"There's quite a storm coming." Monica's voice broke through the silence.

Drew sat up and turned his head around to see his mother walk into the room. He got up to greet her with a kiss to the cheek.

"Hey Mom, how are you doing?" Drew asked sweetly.

"From the looks of it, better than you." She teased back.

Drew chuckled slightly.

"I look that bad, huh?"

"Is everything ok?" Monica spoke with concern in her voice.

Drew let out a low groan and rubbed his hand over his eye.

"Yes. Everything is fine." Drew responds with a wink. "There's just a lot of stuff to process right now, with Kim and Jo's brother and everything."

"Jo's brother, yeah I heard he got out of the hospital and Jo too. Are they upstairs resting?" Monica inquires.

"No. Jo left mom."

"Left?" Monica responds with surprise. "Ah, now I see why you look so terrible." She pats Drew on the knee slightly and leans in to his shoulder. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay. She had her reasons and they are good ones and valid. I'm just gonna miss her."

"I understand. I really like Jo. She's a good person and I could definitely see the bond you two share. She really knows how to put you in your place too." Monica quips with a giggle.

Drew shoots Monica a smirk.

"Ha-ha, very funny." Drew gets a far off look in his eye. "Jo and I have shared some really great times. She's the only person who knows me, the real me, before all this mind-mapping, mistaken identity, memory loss, life I'm living now. It's going to be hard not having her in my life."

Drew stands up and strides over to the French doors of the living room. He leans up against the wall and watches as the clouds open up and the rain begins to pour down.

Monica gets up from her position on the couch and makes her way over to Drew. She pats him on the shoulder and then rubs his arm gently before she walks out of the room, leaving Drew alone with his thoughts.

Drew stood there for a few minutes watching the rain pour down the glass of the door. His thoughts drifted to Sam. He was worried about her. He hoped she was doing okay, that she hadn't gotten out of the hospital too soon. Suddenly he had the urge to call and check on her. He pulled his phone out of his back pocket and pulled up Sam's contact information. He stopped before he hit send on the call button and tapped the phone lightly on his fingertips. He wondered if this was a good idea. If she had chosen to be with Jason, did he want to come between that? Was it even fair for him to? His mind drifted back to the events of the last few days. When he thought Sam was in trouble, when he wasn't sure he would ever see her again and how scared he was. Then he thought about Deke and what a miracle it was that he was alive, after all this time. How he lost so much time from his life. Time he could never get back. Then Drew started to think about all the years he had lost and the ones he still couldn't remember.

"Ah, to hell with it." Drew muttered to himself as he touched the phone to bring up Sam's number again.

Just as he was about to hit send the doorbell rang. Whoever it was, it must have been urgent because the person kept ringing the bell over and over, feverishly.

"Okay, okay, I'm coming." Drew yelled out as he made his way to the foyer. "What's the emergen….." Drew was shocked at who he saw on the other side of the door.

"Sam, what are you doing here?"

Sam stood in the doorway just staring. Strands of hair stuck to her face and she was drenched from head to toe.

"Get in here, you're soaking." Drew stated as he pulled Sam inside the house. "Let me get you a towel."

"No. I'm fine, I don't need a towel." Sam replied flatly, never taking her eyes off of Drew.

"Sam, you are drenched. You are gonna catch pneumonia. At least come in to the living room and sit." Drew offered directing the way to the other room.

Sam didn't budge an inch.

"No, Drew. I came here because I need to ask you something and I need to do it right here, right now." Sam demanded.

"Okay," Drew answered with hesitation. "What is it?"

"Do you want to be with me?" Sam asked plainly.

"Sam."

"No, it's a simple question. Do you want to be with me? I know we're complicated and that you don't remember and we have a lot of stuff to work out but the question of whether or not you want to be with me isn't complicated. So, yes or no, do-you-want-to-be-with-me?" Sam asked again, closing the distance between them.

"What about Jason?" Drew asked pointedly.

"I don't want Jason. I told him today. I had to tell him face to face, so I asked him to pick me up from the hospital so we could talk. I couldn't wait any longer to let him know." Sam stopped abruptly.

"Let him know what?" Drew queried, curiously. He stepped in closer to Sam. The two were so close now they could feel each other's breath. Drew instinctively reached out and put his hand on Sam's waist, drawing her in just a bit closer.

"That I don't love him anymore. That I-I love you." Sam stammered. She reached up and touched Drew on the cheek and then she let her hand fall and grab his and she squeezed it.

Drew stood there, dumbfounded. He didn't say anything, just stood there gazing into Sam's eyes.

"Drew, did you hear what I said?" Sam questioned, searching his eyes for confirmation.

Drew finally blinked and let out a small sigh.

"Yeah, I heard you." Drew confirmed. He moved his hand from her waist and put it into his pocket. He let out a low groan. "Sam, I…"

Before he could finish his thought, Sam interrupted.

"It's okay, you don't have to say it. I understand, I've waited too long." She blurted out with disappointment. She took a few steps backwards breaking their physical connection. She began to turn and head for the door when suddenly, Drew grabbed her by the waist and pulled her in close to him.

"Yes." He whispered in a gravelly tone.

Sam stood there for a moment, surprised by the unexpected turn of events.

"Yes, what?" She asked, looking for confirmation.

"Yes, I want to be with you." Drew repeated still holding her close enough to feel her breath on his lips.

With the final confirmation, Drew pulled Sam in completely and engulfed her lips fully with his. He placed his big hands on the small of her back and held her in close to him, kissing her over and over. Sam grabbed him around the neck and hoisted herself up to straddle him at the waist eliciting a low moan from Drew. They were the only two people on earth in this moment. Sam opened her lips slightly to allow Drew's tongue to dart into her mouth and their tongues entwined with each other.

Suddenly realizing they were standing in the Quartermaine foyer, Drew pulled back slightly and placed Sam back on the ground.

"Wait, wait, just a second." Drew pleaded.

"What, but you just said." Sam responded in confusion.

"I know, I know what I just said. And I meant it. My God, did I mean it." Drew emphasized, grabbing her face with his hands and placing a kiss on her lips.

"So, what's wrong then?" Sam asked pawing at his shirt and swaying her hips back and forth.

"Well, first of all, we are standing in the middle of the Quartermaine foyer. Anybody could walk in at any moment and I don't think we want to be giving them a show." Drew quips flashing a sexy smile.

"Okay, fine, let's take this up to your room then." Sam purrs in his ear.

"Ooooohhhh, you have NO idea how much I want to take you up on that right now, but Sam, don't you think we have a lot more things to work out? Wanting each other is one thing, but we have some issues here." Drew flatly retorts.

Sam stepped in closer so she was inches away from Drew. She began to tug at his shirt and untuck it from his pants.

"Drew, I know this is going to be work and we have some stuff to figure out but can't we just start on that tomorrow? Please?" She flashed her sexy eyes at Drew and unbuttoned the top button of his shirt. "I want you. I really want you right now and I don't want to waste anymore time. I'm committed to making this work. I just want to be close to you tonight again, finally after all this time, all these months." Sam whispered in her sultry tone and gently nibbled at Drews earlobe.

Drew was powerless against her charms. He wanted her just as much as she wanted him. He knew he was committed to making it work. They had waited so long, wasted so much time, they could start repairing their relationship tomorrow, tonight his desire was too great to quell.

"C'mon." He practically growled as he grabbed her hand and led her upstairs toward his room.

Finally, after all these months, after all the doubt, the life changing situations and the obstacles, their bodies would be re-connected in love. A love that their hearts and souls knew was there all along.
