Blue Bloods x CSI x CSI- New York Crossover
Stella Bonasera's adopted daughter Riva Willows Bonasera
(What if it hadn't been Stella who shot her ex-boyfriend in 2 x 21, but someone else?)
Author's Note: I don't own anything, but this story and my original female character Riva Willows Bonasera.
Chapter 1.: Call from Riva Willows and flight to Las Vegas
Stella Bonasera:
When Riva (her mother is a colleuge of mine from Las Vegas) calls me, I am confused as hell, but she explains: "Detective Stella? Mommy, auntie Nancy, Lindsey and uncle Pete were killed by a bad man named Patrick Sniper and mommy told me to call you, if anything should happen to her or my aunt and uncle. She said, you could take me away from here to New York and that she trusts you more than anyone at work. Can you pick me up and adopt me?" I hang up with the promise to come to her.
After my talk with Mac about getting Riva from Las Vegas, I am on my way with Don in an airplane to pick up Riva. "So, what's this girl's story? How do you know her?" I smile sadly and concentrate on staying calm:" I am or was friends with her mom Catherine Willows, a CSI. I was there for Riva's birth after we've only known each other for a month because her ex-husband Eddie got himself killed and was Riva's and her sister Lindsey's father. Riva's just eight years old and Lindsey was just about to go to college. I need to protect Riva, Don, I just need to."
Chapter 2.: New Life in New York and possible job prospect
Riva Willows Bonasera:
When I started school in New York, I wasn't excelling in any classes, except in English Literature and Physical Education. I had always been a bookworm and a little boyish and I had always liked mom's stories about being a CSI and which cases she had to close which hasn't changed when I moved to New York. What I had been getting better at was smoothing out things between the groups at school: rich kids, poor kids, athletes, nerds, younger kids, older kids and bullies which caught mama's attention.
Mama sits me down one evening after school:" Riva, care to explain to me why the principal called me at work today and asked me, if you were thinking of becoming a cop or a lawyer?" I shrug:" I'm always smoothing things down between two parties and I could study law and then become a cop, or something like that." Mama immediately sets me up with an internship at the house of justice and at the NYPD to help where ever they need an extra hand. The Reagan family have taken me under their wing from my first day, as has Abigail Baker.
Chapter 3.: Aftermath of getting beaten up by ex and final decision
Stella Bonasera:
I should have known something was wrong when Frankie never bonded with Riva and Riva always made excuses to leave my apartment when Frankie was around. I'm laying on the hospital bed after Frankie beat me up, but Riva shot him before he could beat me to death and possibly rape me. Riva hasn't left my side since she called the ambulance, not even when the nurse had to do a rape kit and the nurses reported that she hasn't slept a minute. Thankfully I wasn't raped, but I am still worried about Riva, so I call the Reagan family though I didn't need to since one of the nurses is Linda Reagan, the only doctor in the family.
Erin and Danny sit Riva and Nicky down to talk about becoming a cop or a lawyer and Riva doesn't have to think long before she stands up to look at each of us:" If I may I'd like to continue shadowing Erin when I'm not studying to become a cop. I know you aren't very happy about Nicky's goal to become the first female Reagan cop, Erin, but we both know she's got what it takes. If we become partners, we will watch each other's backs."
Chapter 4.: Thoughtflow of a realist
Riva Willows Bonasera:
I continue shadowing Erin while Nicky finishes school before the police academy starts. Mama and I have been invited to the Reagan's Sunday dinner since I started my internship and since I've made my mind up to become a cop, Frank and I have an agreement that if I die before mama, whether doing my duty or from old age, mama would still get their support. I know I'll be one of those to be killed during their uniformed years because I am very reckless though still within my rights and the legal room.
Chapter 5.: Last acts of a realist that show a lot of thoughts
Stella Bonasera:
Both Nicky and I have been in shock since Riva was admitted to the hospital for many gun shot wounds. Officer Renzolli summed up what was going on before we rushed to the hospital:" Willows was on patrol when she radioed in that a girl was getting assaulted and threatened. Willows made herself known to the young adults, then we heard gun shots. Willows told us to triangulate her cell phone and was trying to calm down the girl who was freaking out because Willows shouldn't have been able to talk, let alone think."
Abigail Baker:
Riva is standing in front of my desk one day early on in her uniformed patrol days, looking a bit nervous. I smile at her:" The Commissioner is free, if you wanted to go in, Officer Willows." Her lips twitch:" Do you have a moment for me? I mean, it will probably take an hour or so, but" Seeing my smile widen she continues:" You know what I mean, Abby." I nod and after letting the commissioner know that Riva wants to talk to me, lead her into an empty conference room.
Riva Willows Bonasera:
The minute the door closes behind Abby, I take off my cap and put it on the table before I embrace a surprised Abby. She puts her arms around me after a moment and I sigh out; I've always had a special bond with her, I mean, I always felt safer with Erin, mama, Abigail, Eddie, Nicky and Linda than Danny, Jamie, Henry, Jack or Sean, but Abby and I always had this connection. After another moment I let her go and take out the envelopes I brought with me for my family and put them on the table right next to my cap.
Abigail Baker:
She starts to explain:" I write letters to cope with good days and bad days, mama has read some, but these are for the time after I die, in the case I die in the line of duty because I am a – as you put it – crazy bitch. The reason I came to you, is that..." I put both of my hands on her shoulders: and finish Riva's sentence" We've always had that mutual understanding? And you would like me to deliver those when the time is right?" Riva looks up with tears in her eyes and nods:" Not all at once, but in the order I set. You really are my trusted one."
Chapter 6.: Death and letter of a realist
Stella Bonasera:
An hour after Riva's surgeons told us she died on the table, Abigail rounds up the family and once we're all in the conference room, she gives each of us an envelope with our names in the middle. Erin gasps from next to me and Abigail explains:" About a month after she finished the academy, Riva came to me and entrusted me with 9 letters for each of us. I have just given you the one that Riva instructed me to give first. Would you like to open them here?" Neither of us answers, but I can hear all of us opening the envelopes.
Riva's first letter to Stella Bonasera:
"Dear mama, is it crazy that I already miss you although you're in the other room? We had an argument about my not wanting to attend my graduation ball. I can't even recall how it ended, but I am so, so, so grateful for you. Momma Cath did predict that my impulsiveness and big sense of justice would be my downfall though I doubt she envisioned this. I know you're sad right now, but don't push the people in the room with you away which I know you will, I just wanted to tell you not to. Love ya, Riva Willows Bonasera."
